I moved to Colorado and asked to cancel my membership with them, they asked for paystubs, proof of my new address, and letter from new employer... who do they think they are?! 800 to the credit bureau even though I am not even living in the state anymore and no longer using their services. Crooks. Not nice people. Christopher has no idea what he is doing in terms of being a "financial manager" bullying and writing do not offer settlement in an email means nothing and he obviously did that to scare a young woman like myself. Thankfully, I have received financial advice from a professional who told me yes it will go on my Credit but I will be able to settle. Do not do business with this gym if you live a life where opportunity take you to different places because they will penalize you for it. Even if I give you proof of location I still have to 400$ for a location I do not use. That's ridiculous! Still thievery. THERE ARE MORE NEGATIVE REVIEWS THAN POSITIVE PEOPLE! This place was not cheap and I signed my son up for the kids class. He loved his teacher Zion. However, the 1 star review is because this location in Spring closed suddenly and moved to Magnolia!! They MUST be hurting for business because notice was NOT GIVEN in time for members to do anything about it. I went on vacation one week and came back to take son to class to find an almost building, locked up, and NO SIGN to indicate there was a closure. There were 5 clients outside wondering what had happened as well. Finally, an email was found which was apparently sent less than 5 days prior (over a weekend, so more like 3 business days) notifying of the move. Nothing verbal, no posting in the club at all even after move was made. We had to hunt for the email. Any parent understands the challenges of a balancing busy work schedule with their child's activities. Can you believe even though our contract was up AND the school had closed SO SUDDENLY and MOVED 30 minutes away, that they will not cancel my son's membership because they said 30 days notice is required even though It was THEM who moved without giving earlier notice for a chance to cancel. (seems purposefully deceitful). And When I told them it was too far and I didn't sign up for a class in Magnolia, contract says NORTH Houston location, NOT MAGNOLIA, NOT WOODLANDS... the response is that it's within 15 miles of the other location so my argument was moot. There is NOTHING in the contract to stipulate this either. Rod must be pulling at straws or looking at the wrong contract. Deceitful.... they must be dying financially because this is ridiculous. Where in the contract does it have a 15 miles stipulation.. and if THEY MOVE? If I MOVED I get it,.. but it wasn't me. During the pandemic, they allowed zero concessions to members. They did post online videos but we are not paying $110 a month for videos that can be watched on YouTube. We pay for the facility, the equipment and the in-person live training. Separately, we moved cities in recent months, was told by a staff member that all was needed was proof of address to cancel our accounts, and was subsequently sent to collections by the "manager" after being told that "that's not how this works." We are currently disputing the collections and sending letters to the Attorney General and BBB. The training staff is amazing but this operation is malicious. Do not sign a contract here. read more

I joined 10 months ago. I wish I had waited until I had a chance to know the people before signing a contract. There are a lot of folks with attitudes, even the instructors. Don't expect anyone to go out of their way to make you feel part of the group. The fighting (self-defense) style is mostly good for people who haven't been in real fights and have no idea what to do. I'm not saying it doesn't help or couldn't help just about anyone. Walking into the gym still seems surreal, like I joined a group of tattooed Walter Mitty types who fantasize about being tough guys, or girls. If you have a good boxing gym near your house, give it a try first! One year of boxing and you will be a better fighter or self defender, than 80% of the Krav Maga students. read more

First I don't appreciate y-e-l-p deleting my substantive real experience at krav magna houston! What is going on with yelp! I go on krav magna' website and Yelp is Advertised on their website as 5 stars!! That is false advertising, they are not five stars. So here goes another review on krav magna Houston because yelp deleted my first review. I purchased a groupon, fully paid and made an appointment with josh at 6pm and met him at 6pm.I told him I had groupon and he tried to upsell me on the Crossfit and other class called extreme fitness by telling me the enrollment fees and monthly charges and what I should do. He tried to sell me 6 months of classes that I haven't even done one class of. I told him I wanted to use the groupon and try the classes for a month, so he gives me a piece of paper with a class schedule and tells me that there are 2 classes a week that I could attend once a day. That is 6 classes a month! Omg my groupon I purchased stated unlimited classes for a month! That is false advertising! Needless to say I contacted groupon. I felt really really uncomfortable and I couldn't believe what he was doing. He circling things and doing math on the piece of enrollment paper and telling me how this price now will be a lot less if I paid right now and that it was a one time deal. He was like a bad car salesman. Wait a minute... I'm at a gym..ugh. After about 15 minutes i felt trapped in his office and couldn't leave. When I finally got up and left I could breath. read more

I wish I could give them a negative stars. Let's start off with the staff here is very unprofessional over the telephone. The contracts are very vague and to sum up everything this is a money hungry company. They do not care about the satisfaction of the customer they just want their money. I had an issue with charges on my credit card. I called and could not reach anyone. No one ever called back so I disputed the charges with my bank since no one would return my phone call. Later down the road about a month or two later they call me because they received a chargeback. Hmm... Now you are concerned and want to talk. Josh Allgood and a guy name Isreal (wrong spelling) both hung up in my face and would not let me speak. Josh simple told me "good luck, because we are sending you to collection" in my mind I'm thinking this is crazy. I'm trying to explain to him that the payment is not the issue ... I called several times and could not get in contact with anyone and I no longer stay in the city. I did not want to continue to receive charges on my credit card but if I owe something I will pay. Nope nope nope he wasn't not hearing it. Called back and spoke to Isreal and I tried to let him know that the payment was made and he asked "is everything done?" and I replied yes, then he hung up in my face as I was asking a question about their lack of communication with there customers. I did my research before deciding to enroll here. Although it is more expensive than your typical "McDojo", this is one instance where you get what you pay for. The staff instructors are obviously experts in their field: well trained, conditioned, have impeccable attention to detail and take their responsibility as representatives of this Martial Art, seriously. It is not a cake walk. If you just want to work on your bubble butt, your biceps, or play happy slappy fluff fluff kickboxing - because it's cool to say you did -- go to 24 hour Fitness. This curriculum seems to be designed with a definite end goal -- teach REAL Krav Maga. You will sweat, curse, bleed, get sore in muscles you never knew existed and probably pray to God every single class for the pain to end... they push you, but are very careful not to break you. You want to get your black belt in as little time and effort as possible and STILL GET BEAT DOWN, like a pacifist against a mob of violent cartel members, go take Krav in the Woodlands. I came here initially off of a Groupon and was a little hesitant to do a membership. But I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT!! So much so i go 4-5 times a week. Paid for a membership up front but rarely attended. Noticed today that I'm being billed monthly (2 months' worth up to now) after expiration of the original term - omg, wth?! Called them up, they explained that membership renews automatically if not cancelled 30 days in advance. I was pretty unhappy at that point. Spoke with Jason, he told me to come in and see what he could do. I won't go into numbers but let's just say he was professional, courteous and flexible. All said and done, situation was resolved to my complete satisfaction - they really went above and beyond. Contract issues aside, its a great facility in convenient location. Its pricey but proly worth it. Word to the wise: if you're shy with strangers then you may want to join with a buddy - group instruction is 90% of what they do and you may not feel comfortable asking the woman/child next to you to partner up. I've been taking lessons in Krav Maga for over a month now. The instructors are excellent. They make you feel welcome here. The self-defense they teach is instinctive and very practical in today's world. Over the years I've taken Judo, Taekwondo, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, JKD, Kali and MMA. I respect all martial arts, and all my previous instructors. However, you won't find a better school for learning real world self-defense. Unlike others martial arts dojos, one great thing about Krav Maga is that the instructors also teach you about the psychology of being under great duress, during an attack, and how it affects your performance. Scam. Worst experience yet. I was roped into pricy contract and did not get any benefit. The training routines are same each time. Becomes boring. Even if you cancel you will continue to be charged. All the stories you hear about them scamming you are 100% accurate. They come in with the high pressure pitch to close you on signing an agreement. This is fine, if they can close a sale then good for them, however then they keep charging you after your agreement term is over and make you jump through hoops to cancel the contract. Sadly it's easier to call your card company and have them file the dispute instead of dealing with the unprofessional team they have. The customer service is horrible and by far the worst, by the way the customer service is ran by the owner Josh who will throw out false statements to try and make his point. I had one conversation with this guy and I had to tell him that Google existed and that he needed to realize that the stuff he was saying was false or illegal. I spoke to them once to ask to cancel and they emailed me a template threatening to take me to collections and ruin my credit for "owed dues", keep in mind that I had a 3 month agreement and the "owed dues" were referring to month 4. The classes themselves are OK, not great, but they are OK. It's a very individualistic set up and routine. You show up, do the work out that's on the board, and then go home. Great facility, amazing classes! I have to say... as a woman who has been attacked, I feel safer than I've ever felt. I am more aware, I feel stronger, I know some basic moves that would make it much more difficult for people to hurt me. I love the new location; I'm sure the move may have hurt retention of some members but the product sells itself. I've dealt with management on several occasions and most of my interaction has been with Josh. I'm sure you have your personal reasons for not liking his approach but I actually have never had an issue with him. When it comes to health and fitness there is a reason you end up in his office right? Plain and simple this place will get you the results you want. If its weight loss, self defense, or just an overall great atmosphere to train I highly recommend it. Josh is not an honest person, he knows this and really does not care. He gets his kicks out of selling that's all. He says he his manager, owner or whatever it takes to close a deal. My wife signed up under high pressure tactics, no class to understand what she needed, no class to see if fits her schedule just HIGH PRESSURE. Sign today or lose the special. According to the multiple sites they advertise as a Women Defense Class. I get it Krav Maga can be used in that sense. But dealing with women you advertise one thing, get them into your place of business and high pressure sales, it will intimidate them. She was looking for an all women class to feel comfortable and learn, NOT Krav Maga she was looking for. And no there is NO all women classes.Therefore advertising is deceptive and false leading. ONE whole week after being high pressured to sign. Which meant NO tour, NO class to understand what is being sold, NO tryout, NO nothing, my wife got word from her doctor that NO physical activities for at least 6 months because of a health issue. OH by the way Josh says you can put membership on hold anytime no matter what and no matter how long to the wife before she signs the bottom line. She asked this directly to him because she travels for three months at a time and wanted to know for sure. Well that all changed once she signed a contract. We call to put membership on hold, because she really wants to learn self defense, and Josh says now you can put membership on hold for ONLY 30 days in a twelve month period and it will cost you money to put it on hold. WHY didn't he say this in the beginning when the wife asked directly to him and why doesn't the Contract stipulate, that Josh is so often to refer to, say this also. I tell him that the doctor says no physical activities and he responds if she is disabled then yes but otherwise no we will charge you no matter what. He says one thing to sell and does another after the fact. Now my wife is totally upset with the business tactics of this company that she no longer wants to go, even when healthy. So Josh took a woman who really wanted and needed to learn self defense and lost a customer for years because of his ignorance and arrogance. What a great company!!! One last thing to pay attention for anyone who will sign up with this crooked company, read the contract. According to the contract that if YOU DO NO SIGN up for junk mail from them then YOU will be CHARGED $250.00 additionally. You may say WHAT, seriously you have to sing up for a newsletter (JUNK MAIL) or you will be charged money. This place does not even deserve one star. By far the WORST customer service I have ever dealt with. I signed up with the intention of taking the Crossfit and Extreme Fitness classes. The place was clean and I was looking to a change in my fitness routine. After a few months of Crossfit, I unfortunately dislocated a disk on my lower lumbar. I was in excruciating pain. I immediately began therapy with a chiropractor and his physical therapy practice. I called Josh (manager/owner) to talk about cancelling my membership, as my Chiropractor explained to me that I would no longer be able to do any sort of extreme activity or I would be compromising my spinal health. Josh tried to sell me other services instead of the Crossfit, but of course those were much more expensive. I explained that my range of mobility was zero to none and I wouldn't be able to participate in anything offered at their gym. Josh said, if I brought a note, it would be no problem. Of course within the next few days, he would not pick up the phone calls. I received a call back from a man named Israel Rivera. During our talk I told him I received a note from my chiropractor as Josh indicated and he said and I quote "I don't think a chiropractor is a real doctor." He then proceeded to tell me that unfortunately, the only way to cancel my account is to become permanently disabled and get proof of it to them. I told him, that this not only sounded completely unethical but also probably illegal, as I do not remember reading that in any part of the contract. I told him, that I still had my contract and would be sending it to my attorney to check if this was true and that I would be in touch. We read the contract, and of course none of what I was told was true. Josh and Israel are both completely unethical and will do anything to keep your money. I was only paying $103 a month, but apparently my $103 was extremely important to them. After bringing my fiance with me, who also works in the medical field and knows a lot about these type of deals (he worked in a gym through out college), I was let out of my contract. The laughable part was that Israel asked if I "plan to come back when you heal?" Not just no....but HE*L NO! This was the WORST EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE, and I have been a member to many studios, gyms and fitness services. I have never been treated with such disrespect. This place came off so unethical and sleezy that I proceeded to cancel my credit cards, to ensure that I was not billed for any additional months. I would NEVER recommend this place to anyone. STAY AWAY. There are plenty of other gyms in the area that operate with better principles and really look out for your well being. read more

So I discontinued my membership (7 year later) because i was workng out of town and could not use the membership . I get a call from a collection agency accusing me of not fullfilling my contractual obligations and wanted to me to pay hundreds of dollars.... I love training at this gym. Joe explains techniques so well and you are able to understand how it relates to real life attacks. John is an excellent teacher and is able to make adjustments that make sense when it comes to someone that is a smaller size and female. He is encouraging and you feel comfortable trusting him to guide you. He trains you to protect your life and the life of your loved ones. Combative Fitness class is such an awesome, intense, fat-burning workout, too. Mike is great about motivating you to work hard and try your best. Krav Maga can sound intimidating to try out, but if you give it a chance, you will not be disappointed. You will be empowered. read more

Most of the time is the same routine, & to go to the next level of self defense you have to jump through hoops basically miss a day of work because you have to go early like 5 am to downtown & you have to pay for the uniform. To cancel it's a hassle with them, makes no sense they want you to pay them all the months left in the contract if you cancel lol then say they can do a lower amount for courtesy which is still high. I avoided this facility for a couple of years based on the negative reviews I read here. I despise high pressure sales. Due to the fact that I wanted training that was street rather that sport oriented I eventually decided to give it a try after doing some sport BJJ at a couple different places over the last year. I did not get a hard sell - Jason was very easy going. They do put a bit of pressure on you to make an immediate decision by offering a substantial discount if you sign up immediately. The contracts are also very long. So - it is in your best interest to read up on Krav Maga and know that this is something you want to commit to before walking in the door. But there was nothing unpleasant. Past that - I have been doing martial arts off and on since the 80's. These are probably the best run classes I have been in. First - you usually only study one technique per class - and you do it in phases. This allows you to actually learn and retain the technique vs. bouncing around so much you end up learning nothing. Second, they are fast paced - you are going to get a real cardio work out. Third, the instructors are very competent and really engaged. They are not bored, they are not chatting with staff, they are instead going from person to person (usually pair to pair) making corrections and giving encouragement. There is usually more than one instructor. Fourth, while they encourage you to push hard they don't force the issue. If you are standing on the side gasping for air - they understand. Great instructors. The facility also offers "Extreme Fitness" which is combatives based, along with Cross Fit. I'm taking the Extreme Fitness class in addition to the Krav Maga (both are included in the same price) and I'm slowly building my cardio back up. Cross Fit is a separate program. Also - there is a great selection of free weights and machines that are included in the membership - and they are not crowded. Finally, everyone taking the classes is very nice. Some programs seem to attract people with big egos - not here. read more

I read other comments/reviews on yelp and I feel that those people were bashing Krav Maga people for dumb annoying reasons. You pay to get healthy point blank. Don't sign if you intend to quit your journey. No haggling with prices. Either you join Krav Maga or go to planet fitness to pay 15 a month and eat pizza on pizza night. read more

Krav maga classes are useful and very fun. I like how this place has improved a lot. Now they have more instructors per class.
