The Krav Maga: I have trained at several hand to hand gyms, both during my time in service, and for the past five years since and, in my opinion, for quality of instruction, level of training, and real world application, Krav Maga North Houston (teaching Krav Maga Worldwide) is the best program I have been a student of. First off, Krav is a no nonsense, realistic combat system that actually works. Our hand to hand in the military is more or less loosely based off of this system, and for good reason. It is effective. Plain and simple. It might not look flashy, but if you are serious about your self-defense, the last thing you want is something that looks pretty but cannot account for the adaptability and ferocity you need in a street fight or a life and death situation. Krav Maga NOHO will teach you what you need to know and the right way to do it so that you can maintain your own and your loved one's quality of life in a world that presents constantly evolving threat environments, even in the good old USA. You can research scenarios where students of Krav Maga, and KMW in particular, have even defended themselves against assailants with firearms and lived to go home. Secondly, the way you can test the integrity of the training is that when you walk in, the instructors do not start you off with a few "wow factor" moves to hook you in and make you feel special about your new skills. You will punch. You will kick. You will do squats, pushups, and crunches. You will cut your teeth on the fundamentals, and work for it, and earn your levels, increasing your skill set as you are able. Some gyms I have fought in, MMA gyms, Muay Thai/BJJ gyms, etc., throw untrained and untested students into the ring against each other or do not focus enough on basic application of techniques and people get hurt. At Krav Maga NOHO the fighting arts are not a sport and the mentality of training, which is the first and most important thing to develop, is a constant and present influence in all instruction. Last, the instructors are exceptionally experienced. You do not have seventeen "black belts" running around because they bought their way through the belt rainbow for five years and stuck with the program. Mastery of Krav is taken very seriously there, and even the apprentices are vetted extensively before being allowed to instruct. The coaches at Krav Maga NOHO are professional; they have the safety of the students constantly in regard, and they are intense in their presentation, however they like to have fun when it is appropriate as well. The combative and defensive techniques taught there are dangerous, there is no getting around it, and the coaches expect students to be sober minded in acknowledging this but also to be passionate and intense in the application as well while still taking care of your partner. As with any new arena, it takes a little while to break into the crowd, but all are very welcoming and are interested in your education with the highest dedication. KMW was passed down directly from the author of Krav Maga and from time to time you will actually have the opportunity to take seminars with one of his actual apprentices, the Chief Instructor of KMW now, who was authorized to promulgate Krav Maga in the United States. For the ladies wondering if Krav is for them is or if it is just a boy's club, the split is honestly about 50/50 between genders. Some days the classes are actually almost entirely comprised of women, and many of the techniques are specifically designed for your self-defense in mind. BEST WORKOUT AND TRAINING EVER!! I've attended classes at Krav Maga Houston at the North campus for over two years now. After reading some of the reviews by others It seems that some have issues with billing which I cannot address and some have issues with the training which I can address. First, anyone who wants to truly learn to defend themselves has to understand that you are going to get sweaty and some of that sweat isn't going to be yours. Complaining about someone sweating on you when you are grappling or fight training is like complaining about getting dirty playing football. Really? Go watch TV if you don't want to get sweaty. I've not encountered one single instructor who has the "evil dojo" personality/attitude. Are they serious about you learning to defend yourself against life-threatening attacks? I would hope so since you are paying them to learn just that. Don't expect to get the Shaun-T dance/exercise experience here, they are seriously skilled instructors who seriously want to teach you self-defense. If you want an aerobics class then go take one. The workout you get from even the low level classes is very good and they don't do the same thing every class which would quickly get boring. Even in the low level classes you will occasionally get instruction in high level techniques such as gun takeaways which is very useful. All the instructors are very nice and very qualified. Many are Black belts in Krav which means they are skilled beyond your imagination. They never demand you do anything and in fact at the beginning of each class they tell you that if something hurts not to do it and ask if anyone has any issues with injury or medical conditions. Very professional. Often times when you first start you will end up completely winded, when I was like that an instructor always came and inquired about my condition and asked if I was ok. It definitely is not the "evil dojo" scenario. The program is structured so that if you are serious about Krav Maga and want to progress up the belt structure you can do that. I believe that this organization is responsible for more black belts in Krav Maga than any other organization in the country. So if you want serious training, this is the place to go. If you just want some basic instruction and good exercise and have no interest in progressing then they are there for that too, there is no pressure (not even the slightest) for you to test and progress which is a minimal expense for the testing. This program and these people have made a difference in my life. They are good people and dedicated to providing you training that will give you a huge sense of security knowing that you know how to and are practiced in defending yourself. If you are out of shape and want a far more fun way of getting a complete body workout and not be stuck on a boring treadmill or machine, then this is the way to go for sure!! As for the value, well I believe for the price you can't beat it. Go anywhere else and sign up for martial arts training from certified black belts and then tell them you want to take as many classes a week as you want along with some other fitness classes and have access to a full weight facility for under $200/mo. Watch them laugh at you. I pay way less than that and I generally attend 5-7 classes a week, that's 28 classes a month folks.... tell me that isn't a good deal. The Katy facility is quite small compared to the North campus which is on I-45N near Spring Cypress rd. The North campus is quite large and has a lot of space for training and a wide array of machines and bags as well as a fully equipped cross-fit facility. I am a member at the North campus. read more

I belong to the Krav Maga Houston North FAMILY, and that's truly what they are - family! The staff really does take care of their clients! Josh Allgood has consistently displayed genuine professionalism that is friendly and welcomes all of my cares and concerns. The staff and the instructors actually care about how I adopt the fundamentals and they WANT to see that I am succeeding. Joe Morris pays attention as he teaches and has continually demonstrated the innate ability to show me correction in a drill WHILE encouraging at the same time. Trea Drake's SUPER creative extreme fitness routines and warm-ups allow me to enter into the drills and techniques that he teaches that preceding or succeeding hour. Chris Williams couples awareness and scenario education into each hour that I train. It's important to all of the instructors and the apprentices that I am succeeding in my reaction, control, attack, and taking. They pour much of their skills and experience into making sure my success is attainable. C.J. Kirk and his teams at the Kirby location and North location even make sure that when I'm not on the "training clock" that my mindset is focused on awareness and better absorption of training by sending out their Kravology continuing education via email and on facebook. The special guest seminars of which they hold with Darren Levine once or twice a year are STELLAR and provide knowledge base that you can not obtain from another organization for the price they offer as a member. Joe Morris's active concern for women's knowledge of self-defense enlists him to hold seminars for the community. The students with which I am privileged to train, take the hour they are there seriously and have displayed concern to make sure each other has the technique down. Constructive criticism and constant communication are valued among my peers! Everyone keeps their hygiene maintained and even though we all sweat and stink by the end, we all come back to the next class in cleaned up gear and attire! The Krav Maga Houston North facility has always been cognizant of keeping all of the tools with which I train in good condition. The floor mats are maintained. The tombstones and kick pads are never torn up or have undone seams. There is always wet wipes to wipe off the bags and equipment. THERE IS ALWAYS TOILET PAPER IN THE GIRLS BATHROOM! The temperature is always great and it does not have odors. Overall, if you desire to move and improve your health while ACTIVELY using your mind and practicing defense for yourself or a third party, you will want to take the initiative and invest your time and energy... the returns on your investment are priceless. read more

Krav Maga has changed and influenced my life in so many ways that just thinking about it makes me extremely emotional, but in the best way possible. I have been a member of Krav Maga North Houston since 2017, my girlfriend expressed her interest in learning how to defend herself and I had already seen the Krav Maga North location many times while driving by on I-45, so we decided to stop in and see what was to offer. We were a little blown away by not only the extremely detailed tour of the facility that was given to us but also by the amount of services this school has to offer. Everything from a full service weight gym, a HUGE mat area where they teach Krav Maga, tons of heavy bags that you can pound on at almost any time of the day and attend classes for that will get you in some of the best shape of your life, one of the largest Cross Fit boxes I've ever seen, and private training for adults and kids! I've learned so much while attending this Krav Maga school. Everything from how to throw proper and powerful punches, all sorts of extremely effective kicks (especially a groin kick), essential Wrestling and Jiu-Jitsu skills, firearm and knife defense, defenses against any sort of object that can be used as a weapon, how to defend yourself against multiple attackers at once, the list literally goes on and on. The trainers have become very influential figures in my life. I can't think of a particular instructor who I would call my favorite because they are all so amazing and teach things a different way. The most important thing to me is that I know my girlfriend has the skills necessary to defend herself in the need arises, this combat system is extremely effective and easy to learn. Every single time I attend class I learn something, and walk out a better and more confident person than when I walked in. Josh is a great sales man, a great liar and a little condescending he is the general manager by the way. He makes it sound like your getting the deal of your life just sign. He will tell you I'm going to pay your deposit and only charge u 100 a month for eveything kravmaga, cross fit and combat fitness and tell you this deal is only good for today so u have that pressure. If they really believe what they have to offer is so good they should offer you cancellation within 30 days or a 2 week free trial to see if it's something for you. Not just sign here for 1 year contract or 2 and if u don't like it well too bad your stuck with us now. What Suprised me the most was I made the contract for 1 year and he crossed it out and circled it for 2 years. I was not expecting that from someone with that much authority and the image of the company. However, I was really excited about the classes because they had so many through out the day that fit my busy schedule. I showed up at 6am and was told i needed to take a class before i started cross fit And Josh said i didn't have to just so I could sign. However, those were the prerequisites so I had to wait until the next day. So i spoke to Josh and he let the 6am trainer know but I went to the 8am because I woke up late that trainer said Josh didn't tell him anything the manager. What I didn't know was that I could only go to the 5 and 6 AM because they have the same trainer and that's the only trainer that Josh told. I told Josh what if I happen to wake up late can I come to the 8 he said to just stick to the five and 6 AM trainer for the first month. We didn't agree to that when I signed but it was just a verbal agreement and I tried canceling the second day after signing but I couldn't . So my advise is if any sales man is signing u up and says anything make him right it down on the contract if he promises anything that's not on their because if Josh the manager is training them then u have a problem. read more

So here's the tea.. I came to KM to learn how to protect myself. In my opinion, the moves taught are effective and help increase your probability of getting out of physically violent situations. Not only are you being taught moves by instructors/coaches that know what their doing but they will make adjustments to the moves depending your body stature and try to teach you moves that cater to different scenarios (don't hesitate to ask). Use each class to either learn a new move or to improve/solidify your form. I've learned a move but came into another class that taught the same move and found some problems in by form that I didn't catch the first time. Not only do you have awesome instructors/coaches, I've seen more advanced classmates that choose to come to the beginner classes (KM 1) to help out us noobs. ASIDE FROM THAT, you're surrounded by people who emphasize the importance of not being afraid to be a bit aggressive. It's not about hurting people but protecting yourself when need be. You're literally in an environment that will set you up for success. But your outcome depends on you and whether you're going to put in the work. Also, if you're looking to take classes that are going give you a workout and push you to get strong, athletics is where it's at. Keep in mind that every coach/instructor has their own style when it comes to athletics. Some are more cardio based however every class I've been to will get your cardio working and muscles burning. I personally love the people. Aside from all of the coaches/instructors and classmates, the management team (Ashley and Chris) have been phenomenal. I truly felt like I was taken care of and that they truly cared about my safety. I don't think that because they told me that they cared but due to the things that they have done for me at my time at KM. I can take KM anywhere else, but no other KM will be the same because I won't get to me the people I've meet here. read more

Krav Maga Houston has taught me to walk in peace. This school has given me all of the tools in my toolbox that I need to defend myself and my loved ones. Punches, kicks, wrestling, Jiu-Jitsu, defenses against firearms knives or any weapon in general. This school has kicked my ass but also gave me the mindset and confidence to know that I can deliver a brutal counter attack/defense if the need arises. I like knowing that my girlfriend can defend herself but also has my back if I need reinforcements during a bad situation. Most importantly the instructors have influence my life in a great way. Chris Williams was my primary trainer for my Level 1 (yellow belt) test. He personally addressed me and my training partner before the test and gave me a few pointers, the most important one was to not stop no matter what, just keep trying your hardest. I found this very comforting knowing that he knew what I was getting into but he wanted to see me succeed no matter how hard it was. I will never forget that day. Not only the instructors but the gym managers are amazing people, Chris Rodriquez has always been there to mingle with the members before, and after class. He knows almost everybody by name and is up to date on what their goals are. It is very nice hearing him greet me as I walk in and know that I'm not just $$ for him, but that he actually cares a lot and loves seeing members consistently throughout the week. I am writing this review from the perspective of a Mother, not as a member. Approximately 1 1/2- 2 years ago I began to research various facilities for my teenaged .daughter. I wanted to find something that would allow her to participate in some form of physical activity, but also felt that it was very important that the environment she would be in would be positive, and encouraging. After touring several standard gyms, and martial arts establishments I finally made an appointment to see the manager of North Houston Krav Maga. I was impressed enough to sign my daughter up for a six month membership. Now, almost 2 years later, I can say with no hesitation that enrolling her here was one of the best decisions I have ever made as a parent. The instructors are outstanding, and the entire atmosphere is encouraging, but never condescending. Each student learns, not only self defense, but self reliance, and personal responsibility. My daughters self esteem, physical fitness, and personal confidence have soared even beyond what I had had hoped for. I am so grateful to each and every person at this facility, both the staff as well as her fellow students. Of course, she will continue to attend classes as this has become not just something she does, but an integral part of who she is. I would like to negate some of the comments left regarding Krav Maga Houston. First, I too met with Josh before signing up. He did walk through membership fees and different packages (Krav, Crossfit, and Extreme Fitness) but was in no way pushy or deceitful. He simply was informing me of my options, and was incredibly nice and accommodating to me and my family members that were interested. Second, there are 12 level 1 Krav Maga classes per week, so I am not sure what "Noneya" is referring to when they mention only 2 classes per week. Finally, it is worth reminding people that they do have free will. Josh is not trapping you in his office; if you don't like the prices, go somewhere else. Personally, I love this gym. Instructors push you to do your best and really seem to care about every student being able to stay safe and defend themselves in their day to day lives. I have been attending classes for a little over a month now, and I believe there is a noticeable difference in my strength, skill level, and confidence. Students at the gym are very diverse and span all different ages, backgrounds, and skill levels. I believe that anyone could benefit from this gym, and I do not hesitate to give it my highest recommendation. read more

I absolutely love this place! The instructors are the best I've experienced in my 10 years of Krav classes at numerous places. They are very knowledgeable and they will push you to do your best. My job has me traveling and I once had to leave the country for business for 6 weeks. The manager (Josh) worked with me and helped me out that month with my membership. I really appreciate the people at Krav and how they make it feel like a community. My wife recently started taking some Krav classes with me and she is hooked! She absolutely loves this place and has built up her confidence in being prepared in real life situations that may occur. Overall, Krav Maga in Spring has a great new location and the people working here are excellent. Krav Maga Houston North is the best martial arts center I've ever attended. Having been to many martial arts centers across the states, over many years, this is the ultimate conditioning and reality based training system that there is. General Manager Josh Allgood was straight, honest, and easy to work with. Great facility, great instructors, and great self defense training. I attend with my younger high school kids, and grown children, and everyone is benefiting from this wonderful martial arts style and facility. No matter if you go once a month, or several times a week, the style makes you better with each single class you attend. Instructors are highly trained and motivated, and Josh runs a great facility. Great place! Clean facility and you're treated like a person not just a number like other gyms. Everyone on staff at Krav Maga Houston is so welcoming and encouraging. I really feel like they care about my fitness and push me beyond what I thought i was capable of. Even the other members are friendly and encouraging. I've never had fellow gym members encourage me and root me on to try harder. I'm making the most of my workout and even though it's only been a week, I can already feel a real difference in how I feel, how my clothes fit and my overall moral. I joined Krav Maga a few months ago to supplement my current workout program. Although I was in very good cardio shape, attending the extreme fitness and KM classes boosted my overall fitness level. Most importantly, what you take away from the KM class is truly valuable. The coaches are extremely knowledgeable and do an excellent job demonstrating and explaining the why's of the KM techniques. If you're looking to get in shape and learn self-defense, you've found the right place. The only caveat, you better be ready to work hard! I love cardio kickboxing, so I decided to give this gym a try. The other kickboxing studios were more expensive and had inexperienced instructors. I have been impressed with the knowledge, dedication to technique, and great personalities these instructors have. I started taking the self defense portion of the program and I'm learning skills that can save my life. It is a challenging work out, and I've already seen the changes in my muscle tone and body shape since I started a little over a month ago. I'm glad made the decision to join. read more

Excellent training classes and teaching staff. I enrolled with my son because he was being bullied at school. They really work with him to encourage and train him to be his best. And the workouts (athletics classes) really kick my butt! Josh (GM) is awesome. Yes, he's an excellent salesman, but he is also genuinely interested in the health and well being of each member. Anyone who says anything different obviously doesn't use the facilities enough to see that. You get more than you pay for, in my experience. read more

KRAV Is by far the best I feel here in Houston, it has instilled confidence back in my child's (13 yr) the Combat fitness offers great exercise , , Krav classes have so much to offer beginners and advance people, the Instructors are fantastic they push ( what is needed) thanks Joe and Ashley !! I have been attending the cross fit classes at Krav Maga for some time now and have had great results. My experience is you get out of it what you put into it. I have read some of the negative reviews about Josh's sales technique but i disagree. I mean if you go into a salon its to get a hair cut. If you go into a gym its to train and become a better you and sometimes we need to be called out on it, to make a commitment and not blame someone for a way out else when we can't. read more
