I love/hated it and immediately signed up for the beginners package that was offered for newbies. I have been going 3-4 times a week for the past year and a half and still find it as tough as I did the first time I went. They have since moved into a new studio that offers Power Mat & Bounce classes along with the PowerFormer classes. The instructors are wonderful and the community overall is very supportive and friendly. I love seeing the same people every Monday morning and have really embraced this as part of my routine.

From a chat with the barista, I learned that Duo started because the husband had a love for coffee and the wife had a passion for pilates, so they thought "why not combine the two?" The River Oaks location is the founding store and they have since expanded to a second location as well. The people who work here truly seem happy and are eager to share the stories of their founders, which makes the place even more special. During my visit, I tried the birthday cake latte, which is a seasonal drink, and the flavors were also beyond what I've tried elsewhere. I'm typically not a fan of birthday cake flavored items, but I was feeling adventurous so I told the barista to surprise me with a drink from their menu and that's the flavor they ended up picking for me. When I received the birthday cake latte, I wasn't all that excited but all prejudice fell away after the first sip! I didn't adjust any sugar or ice levels like I typically do for my drinks, yet the drink was just right! Overall, I am just amazed by the people, the vision, and the gem of a place that I sort of happened into on a random weekend. I will definitely be returning again frequently for pilates, lattes, and/or fun conversations. Pro tip: initially it looks like visitors have to use street parking, but I confirmed with the staff that the parking lot across from the coffeehouse is free to use as well. Pro tip #2: there is option to order ahead with the QR code in image attached. I have not tried, but that may help skip the lines and make it easier for drink pickup. Pro tip#3: going for pilates here makes it so much easier to grab a quick bite or drink before/after workout!

I joined this LA location shortly after moving to Houston with my partner. It's located on the…read moreupper level of a structure shared with the Costco. There is parking for the gym when driving up the ramp that's close to the side of the plaza facing Cummins St. It can sometimes be a little tricky navigating the entry and exit to the plaza because of the Costco gas station, which tends to have long lines. I go to this location a couple of times a week and usually it's not overly crowded and you can access most of the equipment. I've noticed some of the treadmills were out of service, so if you go at peak hours you may have difficulty finding one working. The equipment seems ok but some machines are showing their age. However, the locker room has been clean each time and there are always open lockers to place your belongings. One curious thing is this location is listed as a signature club but I'm not sure what amenities are considered signature compared to a standard location. This one has a basketball court, a group workout room, and a small sauna but no pool. Overall, it's a good all around gym that doesn't feel pretentious and I have no major complaints.

(2) I was guilt-tripped into buying a plan because they said "a lot of people like you just take the free class and leave". I ended up buying the elite plan mainly because I felt guilty even though I realized I did not need OT. (3) I was not told about the fact that you have to pay if you take the heart monitor home by mistake. I remembered and came back quickly so I was not charged, but it felt like I was being "cheated" to pay more money to them. (4) I went through the cancellation policy for them several times, but when I said I wanted to cancel they basically didn't allow me to? I just felt very forced to do things I did not want to and lied to, and cheated with.
