Let me say this first: I did a lot of research before picking the place to send my pup…read more I went to other places in Santa Rosa and surrounding and was either horrified by what i saw or was incredibly uncomfortable with the idea of leaving my pup with them. From the moment i brought my 100 pound puppy to them it's been a perfect experience. They aren't the cheapest but that's ok. I know that when i drop him off he is safe, and will have a great time. They have let me in the back to see where they bring the dogs and it's great! There are NO cages! They are completely transparent and thorough. They first vet every dog (and owner) to see if they will be a good fit. Every person who works there and the owners are very well trained and vetted. Every dog that i have seen getting dropped off is super excited to go there and the staff know all the dogs by name. It's a great feeling to know my dog is in such great hands!!! Seriously why would anyone take their dogs anywhere else??

We had a great first month at Olivet Kennel with our dog, Jack…read more The staff and owner do an excellent job caring for our 90 lbs Tamaskan. We like that the staff understands Jack and are careful not to overwhelm him with too many other dogs all at once. They are taking a careful and tailored approach for Jack, which is exactly what we were hoping for when we started with the daycare program. I met the owner, Wendy, the other day when I picked Jack up from daycare. She was checking in on the dogs and staff. She is kind, caring, and seems to be very knowledgeable about all kinds of dog breeds and behaviors. The office staff also deserves positive feedback, they kindly changed my daycare appointment today at no extra cost when I couldn't make the appointment. It's also the reason for writing this positive review today. Overall, Olivet Kennel is a professional run facility with an online booking system that still feels like a family business that you can trust. The kennel is clean and inviting. So far, we are very happy with their service!

Be very cautious!…read more My dog got very sick after staying here and almost died. The manager Stephanie admitted that this season was very active. It seems unprofessional to let sick dogs stay there but I guess they just care about money. Also I had prepaid for a daycare package. When I tried to use it they told me that it had expired during the time my dog was sick. I told Stephanie there's no way I could use the prepaid package while my dog was sick. She had not been in contact with any other dogs so I am 100% certain she caught it at Olivet. They never did honor the daycare pass I paid for and told me "sorry but it expired". Seemed odd for them to be so stubborn about a policy after my dog almost died because of them allowing sick dogs to stay there. I paid over $2000 in vet bills because of them and my dog nearly died. You've been warned, proceed with caution.

They go crazy when they see the van full of their doggy friends drive up, and we love that they come home worn out from a long walk. We have also boarded the dogs with Debbie. Most recently they stayed with her a full week. The best part is that we completely trust Debbie with our high maintenance dogs and don't have to worry about them when we are gone. She TRULY understands dogs. They get to play in her large fenced yard and go on pack walks during the week. We bring their beds to her house so they get to sleep in their own beds. We feel so grateful that we found Bark n Barrel! Thanks Debbie and crew!

TLDR: KENNEL COUGH!!…read more My dog is a consistently healthy poodle mix. He spends 4-5 days each week socializing with his dog park friends. Other than having a bad reaction to trazodone on our last flight, and the occasional foxtail issue, he has never had a sick day in his life. We recently used Paradise pets in a pinch because we could not book our house sitter on short notice. We were referred by a friend who planned to board his three dogs at Paradise during the same time. I felt good based on his referral and knowing my dog would be in the company of his dog park friends. Our dog stayed two nights. Before his visit he got all his vax updates and wellness check by our long time vet. Since we picked him up he has been so sick we have visited our vets twice. First for vomiting and Diarrhea. Today we went in for Kennel Cough. With the emergency visits and meds, I have paid $300 in vet bills. Bottom line, I will be looking for other options next time I need to board my dog.
