Their food is truly amazing…read more And their service is even better We were just there with a huge group of people, including 16 kids ranging from a baby all the way to 14-year-old and their server Zoe handled everything so amazingly and with a smile, the food was brought in on time all of our demands were met with a smile, and we immediately addressed, and it truly couldn't have been better. We will come back again and again because of Zoe and the amazing food restaurant has.

I came here with my husband and another couple for a nice night out, or so we thought. We both paid for baby sitters, made reservations in advance, and put aside this night to come to this "high end" kosher restaurant. Which if you have kids, you know takes a lot of planning to go out for one nice dinner. From the moment we got to the hostess table, the hostess kept emphasizing that there is a 2 hour time limit before we have to give our table back. I have never heard of any restaurant putting a time limit on how long their guests can stay, let alone, a very expensive restaurant. We sat down at our table and the waiter constantly came to ask us what we wanted to order. We kept telling him we were waiting for the other couple to arrive and he kept coming and every few minutes. It was uncomfortable. He was trying to rush us out from the very beginning. Anyway, we were all having a great time, enjoying the music and food, right before, Shane, the manager, came to our table and told us that there is another reservation outside that needs our table and our table ONLY. We had ordered tea that didn't even arrive yet, and our waiter didn't bring out the bill yet either at this point! I was very uncomfortable by his comment and told him that our tea hasn't even come yet. Mind you, the other tables around us (non-Persians) were there way before we even got there, and they did not tell them to leave. I told him this, and he dismissed it saying that a bunch of tables had just left. (They didn't). They obviously have a problem with Persians and most definitely discriminated against us only. He did not come up to us once, twice, or even 3 times. The 4th time, the owner came up to us and told us we have to leave!!! It was extremely embarrassing at this point because others could see what was going on and we didn't want to cause a scene. So we left. The whole thing ruined our night and soured our once enjoyable evening. I understand this place is running a business and they want to make money, which in their words, they are not trying to make money off their time limit, but rather want everyone to experience the "fun" at Next Door because there are "not a lot of kosher restaurants in LA with this experience," but come on. You can't squeeze your customers to pay $400 for dinner then harass them to get out once your 2 hours is up. The way they handled it was very unprofessional, rude, and honestly shameful. Very low class move. I don't recommend coming here unless you want to spend a lot of money and get kicked out (if you're Persian). They are racist and their whole management is extremely rude and arrogant. Every person no matter who they are deserves to be treated with respect and dignity. This place is not it.

Came here for an early birthday weekend…read more Glad that I made a reservation. Not crowded when we got there, but it was full by the time we had our entrees. Carmel refers to culture, energy and flavor of the renowned outdoor marketplace "Shuk HaCarmel." Love the Carmel Market in Tel Aviv. It is a great place to shop and eat. Carmel on Melrose Avenue reinvents those flavors in such a creative way. Started with the smoked eggplant and feta brûlée. Don't think! Just order this one! It was soooo delicious. I could have just ordered this one and been so happy. The smokiness of the eggplant pairs so well with the feta. And the brûlée? Pure culinary magic. Shared the my grandma's mushroom cigar. The long cigar filled with mushrooms and pinenuts served with amba was so delicious. Dipped in the smoked eggplant and feta brûlée was good as well. Loved the redfish schnitzel. Something so addictively delicious. For us, it was the perfect bite. Red snapper paired with a dill cucumber salad. So yummy! A fun place for dinner and a nice way to watch World Cup.

Everything our server recommended was absolutely delicious. The raw fish appetizers were the highlight, and I still can't stop thinking about them. The tartare was definitely pricey for just a couple of bites, but I have to admit they were some of the best bites of tartare I've had in a long time. The service was attentive overall, although I would have appreciated a bit more guidance through the menu considering the price point. That said, the food really speaks for itself. Carmel offers a unique menu that stands out from the usual dining experience, and I'd happily come back!

I would give Mazal 6/5 stars if I could!!!…read more This food is phenomenal! The Moroccan carrots and hummus are true true standouts. The mushroom shawarma was also absolutely delicious. Also, I think that was the best pita bread I've ever had, period. We also tried the borekas, and they were perfect little bites to begin. We were celebrating my co-worker/mentee's birthday, and they brought her a yummy birthday dessert as well. And we split a great bottle of wine. Mazal is an unsuspecting beautiful experience. We found street parking but we couldn't find the actual restaurant because I just assumed the building was an apartment building. Once we finally walked through the door, inside is so lovely. I LOVE their bar countertop. We sat outside which has great vibes for summer. Cute lighting, all the works. I want to sincerely thank them for a wonderful birthday dinner for my friend. And for the superior service we received. Very warm and inviting. I can't hype up the service here enough. And we accidentally stayed significantly after closing without realizing it because we were tucked in a corner and lost in our conversation so we didn't even see the time, but we were never rushed out the door (to other diners - please do not be like us, I am so sorry we stayed so late without realizing the restaurant had closed, *yes there was another straggling table next to us who were still there as well so that's why we didn't realize the time*) again, so sorry, and thank you for being so accommodating still!

The service was top notch - attentive, friendly, & quick - all without being around too much. The potato bourekas were little puffs of heaven. The pita was so beautifully fluffy (I didn't even know it could *be* like that!!!), and the vegan labneh plate is last-meal-on-earth-worthy. I still daydream about it, & it's already been 9 days since my visit!

I have been to Lenny's several times. The food is absolutely delicious & the service is always friendly. Street parking only but plenty of spaces in the surrounding neighborhoods. I was there is past Sunday & the menu on their website is NOT the menu we were provided with. There was no beef or chicken being served. Only vegetarian & seafood options. The corn ribs were phenomenal and the guacamole portion was generous. Other foods were good but maybe needed a little more acid and helped with a squeeze of lime. My annoyance stemmed from the fact that we had a reservation at 9pm for 9 people. Totally understandable that it's a large table. For sure. But at 10:15 when people are actively still eating and they're literally kicking us out sucked. We didn't overly linger, but they didn't take our food order for a while and some of the foods took a while to cook so half the table waited for the others. If they had mentioned at the beginning of the reservation that we had to be out by 10:15 would've been helpful to at least plan out our dinner and order earlier.

We paid $68 for two salads and an order of fries, which felt overpriced for the quality and portions. What really stood out, however, was the customer service. I visited with my mother and my toddler son. Since my son wasn't going to eat fried food, I bought him a fruit smoothie from a neighboring business. While we were already in line paying for our order, the owner or manager approached us and informed us that outside food and drinks were not allowed because the restaurant is kosher. Although he said he would make an exception this one time, he approached us again while we were waiting outside for our food. We had chosen to sit outside because the restaurant was crowded, loud, and stuffy inside. Despite us not causing any issues, he again insisted that the smoothie could not be on the premises and began explaining that his license could be suspended due to association rules. We politely told him it wasn't a problem and decided to take our food to go. I understand businesses have policies, but the way the situation was handled felt unnecessarily confrontational, especially considering the drink was for a toddler and we had already spent nearly $70 at the restaurant. Between the mediocre food, high prices, and rude customer service, I would not return. There are plenty of better dining options in the area.
