Tiny little Egyptian takeaway spot that's easy to miss, but since I was waiting to get keys made across the street, decided to stop by. The menu was mostly wraps and bowls where you can choose the filling. I got the meal deal bowl of their Chermoula Chicken (they didn't have the lamb & beef available that day) with a choice of salad (I chose the cucumber and pomegranate one) and drink. The Koshari bowl had a pasta and lentil / grain base in a tomato sauce mixed with the spiced chicken and stopped with a yogurt sauce and crispy fried onions. The base was quite soft, so if you like Al dente noodles this isn't for you. Personally I don't mind soft pasta so it was fine. The whole bowl had a very soothing comforting feeling; with the tomato based sauce it reminded me of a take on spaghetti with tomato sauce but with Mediterranean spiced chicken and other stuff mixed in. I enjoyed the dish and want to support this little shop, so will be back to try other options.

When we were in Cairo, we went to a famous koshari restaurant called Abu Tarek. We loved it so much we tried to duplicate it at home, but found out that 1) its labor intensive and 2) you have to make it for an army. Koshari is a popular, inexpensive Egyptian vegetarian dish made of rice, pasta, lentils and chickpeas topped with zesty tomato sauce, caramelised onions and doqqa... a crumbly spicy mix. While walking toward Piccadilly's Circus, we spotted the Koshari Street restaurant, and stopped in for a take away. The dish comes in layers. The first layer is the lentils, pasta (which is any kind of pasta like macaroni, spaghetti, etc.), rice mixture, topped with the warm tomato sauce. The next layer are the spices, vinegar, chickepeas, and fried onions. Mix it up later and you get an inexpensive, delicious Egyptian comfort food meal.

Omg, this place is so good! I accidentally ended up here and so glad I did. The food was excellent, the customer service was good and I will definitely be coming back for more. The texture and flavours were really good. I loved the pasta/lentil/rice/rice noodle dish, with the fresh tomato sauce, chickpeas and the crunchy onions and herbs on top! So good!!

A little store based around authentic street food of Egypt first opened in London in 2013 serving a selection of Egyptian streetfood classics, both savoury and sweet. I have not seen or experienced many Egyptian restaurants in London and really should have more of these places in London as you will truly enjoy the food. THE FOOD: Classic Koshari (Classic Base, Tomato Sauce, Chickpeas, Garlic Da'aa Dressing, Fried Onions, Spicy Doqqa Nut Mix) - Pot of rice and pasta with a nice zesty and spiced tomato sauce. From the website it seems this is a national dish, sold on roadside stalls and restaurants throughout Egypt, captures the heart of the nation. Well I can't wait to go to Egypt to see how authentic this is. But a great fresh taste with enough spice and kick and full of flavour and texture. THE VERDICT: An impressive little place to eat and enjoy the various pots on offer, the food is delicious and nutritious and you cant say that with a lot of food these days. I want to go back and try the other dishes and would be top pick for a quick bite amongst the many of the usual offerings from the chain restaurants. Highly recommended. There should be more Egyptian places to eat and I for one will be looking into this more.

    Absolutely love koshari

Never in my life did I think I would try one of the best Egyptian dishes for the first time in London. Koshari Street serves koshari (gasp), a street food made of rice, pasta, lentils, and chickpeas topped with tomato sauce, caramelized onions, and dogga (a spice mix). It's vegetarian, nutritious, and ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS. The pasta, lentils, and chickpeas are cooked to a pillowy, soft texture that complements with the crunchy onions, and the tomato sauce throughout the bowl is in an amazingly well-seasoned, thick consistency. Prices are ridiculously cheap. For £7 pound, you can get the King Koshari size and you might not even be able to finish it. I walked into Koshari Street on an early evening, and the server was very friendly. He told me what koshari was and then showed me how ordering works. You only need to them what size bowl you want (Klassic, King, or combo with Baladi salad), and then they'll fill up your order. You can also do add-ons such as lamb, beef, or okra, but I personally like the simple version. They also offer salads, teas, and Arabic Kahwa coffee. Koshari Street is a cozy storefront, where there is only a narrow, long table that faces the wall. I sometimes still dream about visiting London again and having koshari as one of my meals. It's such a fantastic establishment, so please don't overlook this place when you're at Covent Garden or Borough Market!

I got to taste Koshari at Borough Market. Koshari includes lentils, lentils, rice, vermicelli, spicy tomato sauce, chickpeas, and caramelized onions. It's a delicious combination and definitely one of the cheapest and fastest options if you're looking for a meal at Borough Market. It was fulfilling, unique, and light all at the same time. I definitely recommend checking it out!

I absolutely love this pure carb Egyptian dish. When we lived in Egypt, this was the only local dish that we truly loved (other than fattah) as the chilli sauce is served on the side and we could up the heat quotient as much as we liked. While it's pretty easy to make at home, it's a bit time consuming with the different pastas, lentils, pastes and fried onions that need to be prepared, so it's not something I cook frequently. Egyptian friends in London introduced us to this place and we keep going back when we want a carby overload. Koshari street offers a selection of chilli sauces with their kosharis and we obviously favour the king chilli - the spiciest one. Other than koshari, they just have a dessert or 2 and drinks in the menu. It works well as a takeaway and can be eaten a day later too. I always pick up an extra large container of the fried onions (they charge for it), but it saves me so much time when cooking biryanis and other Mughlai food. The onions keep in the fridge for a couple of weeks.

Five stars for being absolute stars at what they do. My parents, husband, and I discovered these guys at their stand in Borough Market, giving out samples of their special dish, koshari. We weren't sure what to expect since we couldn't really tell what was in it, but the tiny samples were sure packed with a lot of flavour and we all ended up getting a serving each! I've since been back to their store on St Martins Lane several times now and have loved it every time. Their koshari is a wonderful mix of flavours and always fresh. I love the spicy sauce, but the mild sauce is still delicious if you're not one for spicy food. As for size, the regular is enough to fill you for hours, very budget-friendly, AND healthy! What a package. I also love how they think carefully about where they source their ingredients. Check out their website about it and GO TRY IT!

The service was prompt between the drink and food orders with the server making sure we had what we needed during our stay. Recommended by our friend who met up with us for brunch, the Angel-based restaurant is lovely and easily walkable from the Angel Underground Station. The Angel Pate was a great starter and wicked tasty, also vegan friendly. The niche fried chicken was absolutely fabulous as was the truffle Mac and cheese. The marination and spiced coating were wicked delectable and the truffle Mac and cheese was to die for. We probably could have just ordered that and been fine. We also split the Glamorgan Potato Cake with a fried beer-battered (gluten free) onion ring was heavenly, made with plant-based cream cheese, leek, and spring onion. The sun-dried tomato and basil gnocchi was decent but the highlight was the potato cake. The Limoncello Spritz and the Aperol Spritz were very good cocktails during our time, with the latter being the mainstay. Definitely well recommended if you are gluten free, vegetarian, dairy free, and/or vegan.

Man, how should I start…read more This is debatable the fact that it's a all you can eat vegetarian restaurant trying to promote no MSG, no animal product blah blah blah healthy-like shit. The oil they have on EVERY dish seems to start blocking my arteries the second I step out of the restaurant. I would always order a bowl of hot water and soak all my food into the water, to get rid of the oil, before I get the food near my mouth. They do have deliciously weird vegetarian food such as veggie duck, chicken, beef- basically, any vegetarian soy protein products you could name. I don't know how they cook their food, but even the prepared vegetables are soaked in oil. The sauces are soaked in oil, spring rolls are fried in lots of oil, simple vegetable dishes are all in oil oil oil! Its as if their cooking motto is "drench everything in oil". Oh, their soup is watery and tasteless. They also serve indian rolls, rice, and noodless- which many senseless people seem to like to load their stomach with. Fried seaweed is yummy. They do have fruits (finally something NOT in oil). Mostly green and red (ooo~ variety) apples, and pineapple, soaked in water. Unlimited refills are a plus if you could tolerate their grease level. I don't mind coming here once in a while for a guilty pleasure. And don't feel bad to ask them for some hot water and FILTER out their grease filled food before treating your arteries with another soon-to-set-on heart attack. PS. take out is not as worth it as eating in (their containers are HELLA small) PPS. cash only.

The…read moreshtick here is that vegetarians and can enjoy Thai / Chinese cuisine to it's fullest extent, but instead of feeling the pangs of guilt from eating an animal, they get odd, fleshy, life-like bean curd / soya replicas. This concept is fine, and I don't want to appear to be one of those meat eating philistines that says "you don't eat meat so you can't have the shapes" (when have you ever seen a pig shaped like a sausage?); but for me there's something very sickening about how true to life these clones are. I can't touch the stuff without thinking "what the hell have they put in here?". Even when I was a vegetarian I was put off by this concept. Aside from this the food ranges from a selection of crispy seaweeds, crispy soya-duck, sweet and sour beef, and it tastes okay: better than some, not as bad as others. The service is polite and efficient, but I've never really been a fan of all you can eat buffet's: the head chef should really take the pride and responsibility to set your menus; you always feel awkward and rushed; and greed is never a charming attribute. There is something quite sterile and clunky about the environment here, and I tend to avoid Veg at all costs. Veg is a barrel of rather questionable cheap thrills, but then if it's cheap thrills (around £10 a pop eat in, and I presume even cheaper to take out) you're after, then go for it.
