The food was delicious ! I got a bulgolgi plate with rice and their spicy cucumber. Their menu up on their window is different to what is posted online, I tried to take photos of the menu but the lighting was not the best. I think there's a lot of glare but I tried. The service could use more work, I mean, I don't know if there's more than one worker. The ambiance gives, "order your food -get your food and enjoy it at your home" lol I wish their doors were open so you could seat inside and eat the food but I think Covid-19 did a number on places here in Killeen, because a lot of places will have ample space for dining in but have it closed off and I can't blame them. The turn around rate for businesses out here opening and closing just as fast is crazy. I'm not sure how long this spot has been open but it is nice and I'm glad that it's still opened despite it not having a dining in area. I definitely recommend coming here. Dis my go-to spot for Korean take out. First time I pulled up I ordered Gal Bi and Bi Bim Bap. I decided to mix the Gal Bi with the Bi Bim Bap & I finished it without a single grain of rice left. If you want good food with good portions come here. Yo big back will be satisfied fo sure. In Killeen on a Saturday afternoon, why not check out something highly recommended in the area? Utilizing Yelp's search I found Korean Kitchen to have favorable reviews, and that sounded optimal so I found them located on busy Veterans Memorial Blvd. I haven't had good Korean food in a while so I was looking forward to this experience. Parking is very limited, probably 5-6 spaces, I walked in and was greeted by one of the owners, he was very nice, warm and friendly and seated me w/ a menu. He got me water and I immediately put in an order for those garlic chicken wings since many have recommended them, I will have to give them a shot. I love bulgogi, kal-bee, and spicy chicken, but on this visit I wanted to try something new. I recalled someone on Yelp mentioning a spicy noodle dish called "Naeng Myun" that was really good and well priced at $8.95. The lady came out from the back to take my remaining order, we talked about the 2 different kinds of naeng myun, one spicy w/ no broth, one not spicy w/ a broth, I opted for the spicy version. She was hesitant to commit to taking my order and kept explaining to me what the dish entailed - - buckwheat noodles that were thin and chewy and spicy, almost like I wasn't sure what I was getting into. I told her I knew noodles and it's all good so hit me up. She directs me to the bulgogi dishes and combination, saying these are popular and the reason why people come here, and I tell her I'm sure it's good but I want something different, so she finally takes my order. I think this is what Mike I. meant when he said (in his review) that the restaurant tells you what to eat and there doesn't seem to be freedom to get what you want - - I think I can certainly relate. The wings came out piping hot and were very good, lots of garlic flavor, no dipping sauce but I do recommend them. My naeng myun dish was very good, they gave me a spicy sauce to top it off along w/ a broth. It was tasty, bits of beef and some veggies, loved the spicy sauce and the cold noodles hit the spot. Since I had a breakfast taco earlier in the day at work I could only manage to eat 3 wings and a few bites of the noodles, and I didn't want to drive back to Austin on an overloaded stomach. I asked her for a box and her suspicious senses show up again - - she glances over my table and says "you didn't hardly eat anything" - - as if I should have eaten everything..? I explained how I needed to get back and wanted to save it for later, so she grabbed a box. Quite odd if you ask me, every customer is different so it's usually best not to judge and just satisfy their request. On the flip side the guy was very nice, open, easy to deal with, and he is eager to please you. It would have been a perfect 5-stars if not for the odd interaction(s), and they also set the A/C too high (76 degrees) as it was too warm inside and felt sticky. They probably think saving a few dollars a month on the electric bill pays in the long run...but ehhhh. I think 72-73 would have made the place much more comfortable. I can't say I'll go out of my way to go back to this place when I return to Killeen, unless I'm really craving Korean food or those garlic wings or want to try their bulgogi. But my food was really good and he was very courteous and professional, just fight and claw your way through her if you opt to deviate from the norm and order something different - - she'll eventually give in. read more

My husband and I just moved to Killeen from Houston and I was craving Korean food. We decided to check this place out based on reviews/photos. I'm originally from NY and pretty picky about my Korean food but this place did not disappoint! The food here is legit! We had the Boolgogi and Bi Bem bop, which was delicious!!! Any time I come home to visit I make sure to eat here and I honestly haven't found a Korean place outside of Killeen that I love as much as this place. The place was ran by a sweet husband / wife team that I learned to know very well since this was the first time I had food other than the standard central Texas Chicken Fried Steak, mashed potatoes and green beans or Tex Mex at the El Acapulco. This place blew my sixteen year old mind and started me on my foodie trail I find myself on today. I mean, c'mon on - Bulgogi, Ban Chan, and that crazy garlic fried chicken! My GAWD wasn't it FANTASTIC!? It expanded my horizons overnight. Back in the day, they would chop it down into finger bite pieces and fry it to a golden crust with tons of garlic flavor. I turned my family (parents and sisters - I was sixteen) on to it and we ate there, by take out order, three days a week for about five years. It was such a great first experience here! The place looked busy with all the cars out in front but when we walked in there were only three tables with people. We were greeted with a hello and told they would be right with us. We found our own seats and waited for menus. It took a few minutes after the menus for the waitress to come back to take our orders but I wasn't ready just yet so she took our drink orders. When we did order, it took a while for the order to come out but the taste of everything was well worth it! Ordered the yakimandoo, bulgogi and sweet and sour shrimp with rice. I didn't know what to expect with the yakimandoo, but it was delicious reminded me of an egg roll. My husband and I came here for the first time on Valentine's day. I've been craving for Korean food and decided on this place because of the great Yelp reviews. We arrived here before 5pm and and the dining area was empty but the phone kept ringing left and right. I guess most patrons of this restaurant do take out instead of dine in. We ordered and got our food 10-15 minutes after ordering. The side dishes were delicious and just enough spice to it. I ordered tofu soup my husband ordered the spicy chicken. Both were on the mark perfectly average tastin. Nothing bad nothing especially good. I can't give this place more than 3 stars cause 1. Galbi was pretty tough to chew. 2. No ban chan at all. 3. Had late lunch here one day last week about 4pm. Not much to the interior. Reminded me of an old diner We had two orders of bipbimpap (think it was like cold noddles in hot stone pot on the menu) an appetizers and water. Wasn't the best bipbimpap we have had. This one had line 1 1/2-2 cups of rice, 1/4 cup of bulgogi (if that much), a few vegetables and the egg. We could only get extra meat if we ordered it initially. Not sure how we would know to do that since we expected slightly more with the initial order. Grand total was like $35 including tax. A bit much we thought, but that's what I get for not looking at the prices on the menu. We were thinking closer to $21 without tip. Korean Kitchen is nestled between two shady windowless motels (where prostitutes go to die) in downtown Killeen. Hey, there's a reason why its still around when all surrounding business is long gone. The service at KK is fantastic and the waitress and chef were very nice from the moment you come in to greet you until when you leave. Here's a breakdown of what we ordered: - Garlic Fried Chicken Wings: amazing made-to-order that comes out super hot and crispy. Very good and cheap ($6.95)! - Bulgogi w/ rice ($10): This is a marinated shaved rib-eye steak served with rice. The beef is very tender and my husband loved it but I thought the marinade was a little too sweet. - Short ribs w/ rice (kalbi) ($16): Excellent!!! The short ribs was so well marinated and tender. I generally can't eat the meat between the bones because its so chewy but they made it so tender that I ate the meat clean off the bone. Yum! - Their kim chee was excellent and I enjoyed every dish unlike most places where only one or two items is edible. So dinner for two for $30 something which is pretty good for Korean BBQ. Was on TDY in the region from Colorado and had dinner at the Korean Kitchen. I myself am Korean, so I happen to know a thing or two about good Korean food. My mom, not trying to brag, makes some of the best. I've also trekked the Pacific Ocean and experienced some of the most orgasmic inducing Korean dishes at its source.... Back to being serious.. with all being said, it's unfair to judge this restaurant comparing to some of the places I've been or some of the dishes I've eaten at home. I will say however that within the region, this is pretty authentic stuff. This is more the Korean food one would get at home or at one of the street vendors. The food is quick, easy on the stomach, and delicious for the palettes. Simply put, this is the simple good stuff. The bulgogi and the kalbi dishes are pretty good, but those dishes are like the hamburgers and pizzas of the American restaurants. It's hard to fudge up. I highly recommend you be little venturous and try some other dishes. The Japchai Bap (Seasoned Buckwheat Noodles with Rice) or the Sweet and Sour Shrimp (the Korean version of the latter uses a lighter batter than of the Chinese Sweet and Sour Shrimp) were both great. The Koreans call it Tang-Su-Yuk. Another dish I happened to try was the Omelittrice. Think of it as an Omelet, flipped and filled with vegetables and rice. It's also served with ketchup. The dduck-kup-bbii, rice cake covered with spicy broth, was like my mom made it. It's pretty good. The restaurant ambiance is quiet and clean. The service was pretty good as well. I rather not comment on the outside as I nearly avoided the place for the fear of my life. It's on the East Business 190 if you know the area. Back to the rating, I will give the restaurant a 3 stars rating, which is good, but I would not go out of my way to drive the distance and eat here say if I was in Austin. Service is still very friendly and hospitable. There isn't too much for Korean cuisine in the Killeen area, so this would be the place to go. The kimbap order is ginormous, so it could easily be shared by 3 people. Since it was a brisk day in Texas, I ordered the Kimchijigae since I have a huge penchant for hot soups. I mentioned that my previous experiences with their Kimchijigae was that it was too sweet. The waitress was extremely obliging and said it was likely due to the onions used in the soup. (I had previously incorrectly believed it to be from the marinated meat.) To cut back on the sweetness, she said she'd tell the cook to use less onion. The soup came out spicy and boiling, but I was sad to see it stingy with meat - a trend I've noticed when we ordered their kimchi fried rice too in the past. The banchan was also plentiful and happily replenished if requested. The galbi was tasty as usual. The surprise hit of our evening was the Hot Stone Pot, not listed, but only pictured in their menu. There come those times in life when you experience something truly tremendous. An experience so unforgettably fulfilling that you often have to take a step back and understand that in this very moment, what you're experiencing is indeed existential and is indeed happening. It took two trips to Korean Kitchen to affirm that my year of dining in Killeen was no less painful, yet ultimately as welcome as PETA's unconditional fondness for foie gras. Let me explain. Foie gras is fattened goose or duck liver. It is without a shadow of a doubt among the world's finest delicacies. It's buttery, creamy, rich and filled with an unprecedented amount of flavor. The process in which foie gras is created, however, is far less romantic. Ducks and geese are force fed meals three times a day through a tube known as a gavage, in which they ultimately become lethargic and pray to the avian gods for a more merciful death. My dining experience in Killeen has been very-much-so identical. I've eaten at dozens of restaurants over the course of the last year, and the vast majority of them offered dishes that were not only unpalatable, but inevitably had me begging for mercy. Two weeks before my move to Denver, I open the door to Korean Kitchen. Korean Kitchen is quaint, quiet, ran by a small staff, and offers limited seating. It is, in hopes of not setting abound any pejorative connotations, a Korean hole-in-the-wall. Its menu is vast, offering a multitude of Korean dishes that while not entirely traditional, do a pretty damn good job of replicating what can be found in many Korean-American homes. The food here caters primarily to the soldiers who have been at one point or another stationed in Seoul, and it's not hard to tell given that bulgogi is advertised at the top of the menu. My first experience here was on par with most Korean food I've had in the area, and I wasn't particularly impressed, although I surely wasn't disappointed. The only, and I mean exclusively only reason I came back this evening was because of the Banchan. For the first time in my life, I had experienced kimchi precisely the way that it was meant to be experienced. It was clean, it was sour, it had a little bit of bite, and a whole lot of flavor. It's not that the kimchi or other banchan were so mind blowing that I just wanted to come back for small side dishes, it's that they were served in the most palatable manner I have ever experienced. As I was leaving the restaurant, the [presumably] owner asked me how my meal was and I told him I enjoyed it, but that the banchan, and more specifically, the kimchi was exquisite, to which he told me "come back tomorrow for the kimchi soup." I did. I went to the same restaurant twice in the same week, one day after the other. This was the best decision I've made in Killeen since I decided to leave. The kimchi soup was absolutely spectacular. It was on par with one of the best meals I've ever had in my life. I've been to Barley Swine in Austin, The French Laundry in Yountville, and countless other world renowned, absolutely amazing gastronomical establishments. I'm not saying that the kimchi soup is on par with Chef Keller's kitchen, I'm simply implying that this is a dish not to be missed. The soup is unmistakably an eastern homage to Polish bigos. The soup was sour, flavorful, spicy, aromatic, a textural roller coaster. The cabbage was crunchy, the beef was chewy, the tofu didn't melt despite the fact that when the soup was delivered it was boiling as furiously as your failure-of-a-man high school gym teacher. And it was clean. Unmistakably clean. Not like most kimchi that's served in America - "Straight from the jar to your plate!" - a motto subscribed to by only the foulest of Korean establishments in America. No, no, Korean Kitchen was a god-send. It is a bastion for hope, gastronomical development, and unadulterated bliss in an otherwise desolate eatery hell hole surrounded by one rotting establishment to the next. Korean Kitchen embellishes everything that makes food and dining experiences not just great, but extravagant. The staff is incredibly friendly, insightful, and understands most of their customer's pallets. If for some reason you're ever banished to the god-foresaken wasteland that is Killeen,do not, by any means, miss an opportunity to eat at Korean Kitchen. 10/10 - Would rant again. read more

Korean Kitchen has great food. Portions are good, but I have had larger portions from other restaurants for actually less money. I usually get their ojingeo bokkeum (stir-fried squid in spicy sauce with vegetables) and it comes with steamed white rice and of course banchan (side dishes). When I ordered this for take out, however, it did not come with banchan, just steamed white rice. That was a little disappointing. I always look forward to the banchan, no matter what it is. I have also tried their bulgogi and tteok bokki, which are these little rice cakes in a spicy sauce. The food is always great and fresh. Don't let the location scare you, though. Basically, in food and decor, it's a KATUSA snack bar. For all you non-military types, KATUSA stands for Korean Augmentees to The U.S. Army. These young Korean soldiers (or KATUSAs) serve on US Bases in Korea, usually doing administrative and/or menial-type work. On those US bases, the US has set up these little Diners, aka KATUSA snack bars, to serve home cooking to the Koreans. For them, it is dirt cheap. For US soldiers who mosey in for some authentic Korean food, the price is much more than what the KATUSAs pay, but still very reasonable. If you liked the KATUSA snack bar food, or like authentic, nothing special, Korean home cooking, you'll like it her. Service sometimes is slow. Otherwise, I would probably give it 4 stars.
