The space is on the smaller, more intimate side, so tables are close together, but that's standard for a pocha. It works for the vibe they're going for. The Bobapop section is a nice touch if you want boba or dessert after, and having karaoke next door gives you a reason to stay longer. It's well thought out as an all-in-one experience. Services/Staff: This is where K1 really impressed us. The staff was warm, attentive, and genuinely seemed to enjoy being there. We were greeted right away, and our server walked us through the menu without making us feel rushed. The call button at the table is a nice touch - you press it when you need something, so you're not awkwardly flagging someone down (typical in LA, but not in Austin much). Drinks were refilled, and food came out at a good pace. Compared to some other Korean spots we've been to in the area, the energy here felt right for a pocha--friendly, casual, and lively without being over the top. Food/Drinks: I want to be clear - this is bar food, and that's exactly what it should be. K1 isn't trying to be a fine dining Korean restaurant, and that's what makes it work. It's a pocha. You come here for good fried chicken, some rice cakes, cold soju, and a good time. And on that front, they deliver. Opportunities to Enhance: A couple of small things. One, for how good this place is, more people need to know about it - their social media and online presence could use a push, because this spot deserves more foot traffic. Two, being Korean, would love to see more bar food bites from Korea, but might live octopus with sesame oil + salt might not be something the area is ready for, haha. Celebrated my birthday dinner here with friends (& the kids!) on Friday the 13th. The food portions were a good size and flavor was wonderful. We ordered 3 ramens, 1 cheese buldak, 2 yaki sobas, 1 chicken tenders, 1 large boneless (soy garlic & regular sweet & spicy flavors), 1 bulgogi fries, 2 chocolate milkshakes, 1 chocolate milk tea with boba, 1 soju slushie I think?, 1 coke, and 1 Dos Equis on tap. Plus 1 tteokbokki to go. Total came out to $266 and some change. Service was alright. They didn't bring out the drinks and utensils before the food came out. And, for a large party you would expect more water than their one standard size be provided for the table. We had a small spill at the table and the servers didn't show much urgency to help us clean up, as we had to ask for napkins multiple times both for the table and the spill. Came here for the first time to celebrate a joint birthday dinner. The inside of this spot is very small and intimate so be prepared for that. I felt like the tables were pretty close together in the middle. They have a couple of high top tables on the left and on the right side, I want to say there are only three booths. Since it was a Friday night, it was pretty busy there and a lot of the tables were occupied. Music is playing so I couldn't hear people across the table. Thankfully they have buzzers on the table because we had to use it a few times just to get our order in. The food did take a while to come out, because it was so busy. The service was OK. We asked for silverware and the server would look at the table to verify we did not have any before bringing us silverware. The take out counter was seeing a steady stream of orders. We ordered the tteok-kochi. The sauces that come with it are pre-made so they can't tweak it or make it spicier. The spicy pork bulgogi was decent. Loved the lettuce wraps and the veggies that came with it. The kimchi soup was definitely my fav. The broth was really good on this soup. Definitely had flavor and spice. I prefer the kimchi to be more aged since the one they use for this soup was crunchy meaning it was fresh kimchi. Despite that, I would still order the kimchi soup again. Yum! My first time getting a to go order here tonight. Ordered some wings. Was told by the woman taking my order it would take 15-20 mins. It took 40 mins to come out with 7 wings and you know some establishments would throw 1 or 2 wings extra just for the wait, but nope. If you have ever been to Korean, these wings will reminds you of authentic "crack chicken". They had the perfect flavor, and were extremely crispy. The tetboki was so delicious with the ramen and tenders dipped into the sauce! Amazing. The spicy mayo sauce was flavorless and not good. My husband had the bulgogi , the only downside for 17$ the portion of meat was so small. But he did say the flavor was fire. Overall not bad. Gets busy! And the ambience was a little much in parts of the dining area. They have these strobe lights that are just so incredibly uncomfortable my eyes felt like they wanted to pop out. This place caught my eye the first time I saw it, so I was like why not let me try it out! First off I love Korean barbecue and soju which is a Korean rice vodka and it's about 14% alcohol but you must be careful because it's so good and you can't taste alcohol. My favorite is the grapefruit! I also ordered fried Kimmalyi which is fried with glass noodles and vegetables inside the flavor is excellent. I was surprised it was so good! Service was excellent, and the environment was clean! For my entrée I tried the spicy pork belly, but I asked them to make it extra spicy, so they cooked it with jalapeños! 've driven by this place several times since it opened a little over a year ago (or maybe a little longer???) and didn't really have the urge to stop in honestly. But the number two son came to town n suggested we try it so here we are! From the outside it looks like any other strip shop or bistro but as soon as you walk in? Super trendy Asian Hipster vibe going on for sure!! Inside is a lot larger than you would think from the outside. It's decked out with all kindsa cool Korean bar deco, with the latest Asian Pop groups playing non stop on the TVs. It's got a great atmosphere, with busy servers bustling around between tables! But someone makes sure to greet you as soon as you walk in! It's like all the popular Korean street foods in one little place; and there is LOTS of seating - which we did NOT anticipate from outward appearances!! They are creatively organized inside as well - wet bar in the back, To Go order Area in one corner, small round tall two-seater tables if you want a little date nite; booth seating for you and your small group, and large(ish) party seating too!! They bring a tall carafe of cool clear ice water to your table as soon as you are seated, and they have an ingenious ordering system in place - as soon as you're ready you just push the little red button at one end of your table and your personal server shows up Toute sweet!! The menu is chock full of selections - from Korean hotdog to Bulgogi noodle soup, to spicy TteokBokki rice noodles that you can Build your way, which my son did; adding Ramyun noodles and fish cakes. The daughter had the hotdog with potato (it's a corn dog fried in potato chunks!!) My hubs had the Spicy Pork Belly Gui, and I had the spicy Pork bulgogi Romain wraps. Each dish comes with a bowl of perfectly made hot steamed Korean rice. The pork belly was super Tender with a nice sauce, served with green onion and cucumber. I Really liked the Bulgogi wraps. They give you about half a head of Romain, which is crisp and cool when wrapped Ssam style around your steamy rice, slices of fresh garlic, bulgogi and kimchi. They also give you fresh sliced jalapeño and soy bean paste, to add in, which gave my wrap that extra kick! The pork in this dish is also super tender and is seasoned as to not overpower the fresh ingredients. I really enjoyed this dish. I can imagine it would be extra tasty and refreshing when enjoying one of the many Soju drinks offered!! We loved the energy of this place!! This was our first time trying out K1 & Boba Pop. I found the restaurant's vibe amusing, with holiday decor splashes with neon signs, party lights, and big-screen TVs. K-pop music videos played simultaneously on three screens, but only one matched up with the audible music. There were colored lights and a strobe light, so if you suffer from migraines or seizures, be warned! The menu seemed somewhat limited, and my husband was disappointed there was no dol sot bi bim bap. We enjoyed the dishes we ordered, though. My Tteokbokki may have been a little heavy on the fish cake to rice cake ratio, but I ate what I wanted. The meals were filling, and I indulged in the matcha bubble tea, which was very nice. Some places undercook their boba, but K1's was perfectly chewy! Service was decent. There's a bell on your table to summon your server; otherwise, you're left alone. I really wanted late night boba, and this was the only place open at midnight on a Wednesday! When I arrived I was hit with a second wind from the fun kpop music videos playing in the restaurant. This place reminded me of home with all the different varieties of street food. The majority of the food was authentic, while some items tasted store bought. They really need to add corn cheese to the menu! That'll sweeten this place up. We almost ordered every item off the menu, but to our surprise, we were given the wrong things. For instance, we ordered chicken and were given the wrong flavor, or we ordered something with cheese and the cheese came on a different item, or we ordered dessert and it was never delivered. There weren't too many people in the restaurant so the server wasn't busy. She wrote down our orders, but delivered something different. We didn't want to seem like jerks, so we ate it anyway. OMG the food was amazing. I ordered a large boneless chicken that was regular sweet and spicy, a regular spicy tteokbokki, and a regular Thai milk tea. Where to start? The chicken was perfectly crispy and a great blend of sweet and spicy. The tteokbokki was spicy but so good! So since they have opened I have been here 2x I really enjoyed their wings I have only had the soy flavor and it's just like Teriyaki. The pork belly is amazing but if you order the spicy it comes cooked and sauces already you aren't warming it up on the mini grill they bring for the regular pork belly. BTW All meats are cooked your just crisping the pork belly and melting the cheese in the spicy chicken. They have a lot of items on the drink menu including Boba Teas and Korean drinks. I took off a star because the pricing to me is a little high especially for the kimchi fries and it has no meat on it. As far as the food it's amazing.
