After reviewing a few hikes on Alltrails decided to give this one a try…read more Parked in front of the County Yard near the trailhead and headed out. Would be very helpful to have Alltrails since there are many trails off it, used by mountain bikers. The trail at the time was fairly dry given the rain we had a few days ago. The trail zig zagged its way up and down through hills, with heavy rain fall there could be streams flowing over it. Would not recommend during heavy rainfall for this reason. The trail is fairly easy, although watch out for mountain bikers. We only saw one rider and a trail runner. It was a weekday, weekend is probably busy. A number of views of ocean and mountains to take in. We clocked in over 6 miles which including the old road to create a loop and bring us back to car. Elevation change was at least 1100, so gradual you really do not notice it. Worth hike at least once, dog friendly, hunting is not allowed in area.

My homeboy even rented a Honda element to help transport 2 full sized e bikes!!! Don't underestimate this spot as it can be very narrow and close to the edge. However, if you respect the trail, and don't try to go too far beyond your level, then you should be fine and have a great time! Tips include bringing a snack and chilling at a hide away park bench overlooking the cliff side.

It is such a relaxing ride along the coast as the waves crash along the shore and the breeze off the ocean keeps us cool. The staff has always chosen the perfect temperament horses for us and after our ride, my legs aren't killing me like it had on other rides. This is our go to place to ride when we are on Oahu!

I wrote in the time that I wanted to start which was 1230 pm. I show up at 1230 exactly and go to check in at the outpost Hut. The 2 guys inside the Hut tell me they didn't see my reservation and they rented out all their balls to a group that just came in..... So...we had to WAIT until the group was finished to get the balls to play.... On top of that, I paid $10 per person to play, and the guy in the hut tells me there's only 6 or 7 holes available since they use the course to pop fireworks off of. New years was about a week ago!! You're telling me, you're too lazy to put back the holes for a whole week?! Cmon man..... Then, I ask for a cart to put all our stuff in and he tells me that they don't rent out carts but that I could get one at the golf hut. So my mom walks all the way over to the golf hut for them to tell her that they don't rent out golf carts for soccer golf......?! So then after all of this, the guy in the outpost hut tells me he will refund me the balls we rented as a way to make up the unfinished course and the time we had to wait for the balls to come back. That was nice of them.....except for the fact that he didn't do it!!! He was straight up lying. Bc i kept checking my account and I didn't see no refund pending from them.... So I waited 2-3 days then I finally call them back checking up on the refund. Explain the whole thing and I'm pretty sure the guy who answered the phone was the same guy who told me he would refund it to me the day of my reservation! So he puts me on hold and tells me that a manager has to be the one to refund me. So why did that guy in the outpost hut tell me he was refunding me if he really wasn't?!?! To top it all off, the course looks like crap. And they don't even have a score card to give you. Good thing I took a picture of their somewhat course layout so I knew where the heck I was going. The course is literally just grass that is so overgrown and bumpy that you cannot even call it foot golf. Save yourself time and don't go here.

So rather than winding back-and-forth, we came straight down and ended up near the tennis courts of the townhouses below. Park on Hui Iwa and meet at the McDonalds at the corner of Kahekili and Hui Iwa. Then walk along the highway opposite Temple Valley until you see a path going up -that's the start of the unmarked trail. Overall shady, short but with enough climbing to get in some cardio. To get to the trailhead, park on the street preferably or in the shopping area across the street (where the McDonald's is). You can chance it there, but you should be good. Very popular hike, so go early to avoid crowds. So from the shopping center or wherever, follow the guard rail alongside the highway. The beginning of it is at the corner of the road going up to the shopping center. I'd suggest not walking on the right side of the guard rail as it puts you perilously close to oncoming traffic. So hop the guard rail on the left side and follow the really narrow dirt path that leads to the end of the guard rail. To the left, you'll see a sign that says "private property - no trespassing." Ignore that, obviously, and head up the path behind it. It's an in then back the way you came from hike; not sure if it's a loop, but it's about 2 or so miles round trip. The first 1/8th is steep and muddy, with slick, clay ground. Nice people have left ropes on the side so you can use that to get up. The rest of the way is shaded, with rooted paths, lots of local fauna and lots of bugs, too. The last part right before the pillboxes is a very steep incline. Again, there's rope there to help you up if you're not a ninja like I am. First bunker is kinda cool. You can climb down the rusty but stable ladder and get a nice view from the inside. The second one is where you want to be. It's where all the Instagramers are at taking selfies. If you're lucky enough to be there alone, you'll have a nice, meditative moment where you can see the bay. Good hike that's not too hard at all.

Also, seeing all the mountain bikers at the Ohana Trail at my then Waimanalo shift inspired me to try a new sport. After all of the searching for local shops on FB, etc, Ride Ebikes Hawaii had a bicycle (Magnum Summit) that was not only in my budget but what I was looking for in a electric mountain bike as well. The Magnum Summit alone had a kick I wasn't expecting on take off and I admit I almost ate sh#t right out the gate on my test ride. My Grogu spirit guide was watching over me that day. Also, an attractive looking hardtail with a unique boxy frame that I have not seen on similar rides. The Magnum Summit comes in 27.5" and 29" wheels and various colors https://www.magnumbikes.com/product/magnum-summit/ Bicycle aside, business owner Justin Carvalho not only gave me a great deal on one of his demo bikes but also helped me out with any repairs needed (also had an extra obscure axle spacer not easily found at local stores for my rear wheel). Justin even went as far as to saw the bicycle seat post lower since I am a short rider. He provides a year warranty on all purchases if anything should happen electronically, etc. It is local business like Ride Ebikes Hawaii that helps acoustic / pedal bicycle riders like me (in this case for trail) to transition to electric. Also, Justin also offers rentals in a wide array of models and even a trike in case you are on the fence about the upgrade, which I assure you is a great investment. Electric is the way to go. https://rideebikeshawaii.com/rentals/ 5 Stars Ride Ebikes Hawaii
