This person then hired me, and I learned that this agency encouraged her to sign a release to send an evaluation to the court file! Even before any lawyer saw it! Of course, with many of these pocket-padding self-serving agencies, the evaluation suggested they should do a lot of treatment, never mind that would not have been expected by the court given the nature of the offense. Their tactic was totally against the clients' legal interest, and not really in her personal interest either, because any lawyer in my shoes would tell the client to drop that agency like a rock for doing what NO LAWYER WOULD DO OUT THE GATE. I spoke with the BHC evaluator and manager. The former continued to misconstrue that I was against treatment for people with issues, when I just don't want it to be something the court has immediate awareness of. That's a conversation to weave into the defense over time once proof issues have been presented. The manager Called me and actually suggested that sending an evaluation to the court would "get ahead of the DUI, and maybe keep it from being filed at all." Lied and said that happens all the time when it never does. That is the most ridiculous suggestion I've ever heard. In my 2000 DUI cases, I've never seen a DUI not get filed because the evaluator told the court that somebody with an unremarkable first DUI had a serious drinking problem. That makes no legal nor common sense. Idiots, truly. This agency is NOT to be trusted, do not race off and get an evaluation from them, and if you do, sign a release only to your lawyer. I recognize they are not lawyers, but if they were, it would be legal malpractice to have done what they did. It's just so harmful to a client's legal interest, raising red flags and making it much harder to persuade the prosecutor this is worth negotiating down (given BHC indicated to a PUBLIC file they're basically a community danger -- thanks guys!). Really quite stupid thinking over there bc employers, spouses, references, future dates and anyone can now find that exaggerated dirty laundry unnecessarily published (!) about their "patient" and my client. Would you want your personal medical information published? Bc this insipid agency will do that against you. Keep your distance, they're unprofessional and don't have a clue the larger picture. Don't believe the smiles, they want to suck you into their for profit treatment never mind what's really best for you.

I was dealing with a lot and having a hard time solidifying paperwork with Heidi in a timely manner. So I definitely understand why she would be frustrated. What is ridiculous to me is how a supposed therapist would be so rude and unprofessional. What kind of professional makes assumptions and judgmental statements especially in a profession dealing with people struggling with anxiety and depression. Heidi said to me "Seriously dude - no reply to texts and emails from August 10th to now/ August 29, and you weren't in jail or an ICU and I'm the problem?" (see photos of email).

After explaining to her the circumstances of my absence, I requested a one-time courtesy waiver, which she declined and then a courtesy fee reduction, which she also declined. I respected her decision and paid the fee and she sent an apology text that includes some typos so I replied with a question mark and she blew up on me and claimed I was harassing her. Her reply included an "OMG" in it because she was frustrated I didn't assume what her typos meant. I would've considered still working with her even after paying the $100 no-show fee, but after her blow-up reply, absolutely not and I wouldn't recommend anyone else work with her. Completely rude and unprofessional.
