There is no practitioner better in the South Sound/Tacoma area for Physical Therapy than Carter…read morePeckham. I initially saw her when dealing with Frozen Shoulder, having been referred first to a big box PT practitioner who gave me a band and strengthening exercises, making my shoulder worse. What I needed, and what Carter knew, is that my shoulder needed stretching, not strengthening. I stayed the course of being stretched by Carter in her office and stretching on my own at home with the exercises she sent home with me and gradually got better. Each new level of recovery was met expertly with new stretches and I regained the use of my shoulder joint and arm. It was a no brainer who I would see when I was involved in a rear end collision nearly 2 years ago as well as with the 2 times I have been hit since. Carter's treatments are full range from hands on stretching to the use of props as well as applied heat or ice and TENS-unit stimulation and craniosacral work. When some stretch doesn't help, Carter keeps trying until we find one that does. Carter is patient, firm, empathetic and friendly. Her knowledge of anatomy is vast. I feel lucky to be in her care and recommend her without hesitation.

I will tell you that Carter is extremely hands on, knowledgable, and diligent in her care. She is very experienced, she has a lot of tricks in her bag and she will always work incredibly hard to address whatever has brought you in. Her level of care and skill is unparalleled in her field, and the contrast to the quality and intensity of therapy you receive compared to the "big box" style PT clinic cannot be overstated. Carter's practice has literally been a lifesaver/game changer for many people I know as well. NEPT is tops, I would not go anywhere else.

I went to him with a laundry list of health issues, he looked at my previous doctors notes, hadn't even looked at the paperwork I had completed or the MultiCare website information I had filled out, he told me I didn't need the treatment he had me on, and sent me on my way to a weight-loss specialist. No testing was done, and when I asked about it, he said he was using the tests that were done a year and a half ago. Yet the illness and the symptoms were still there. It was expensive and I waited months for the appointment. Terrible experience. I was heartbroken and desperate for someone to help me with my health issues. The pain was so I bad I could not sit down, and other doctors said they could not find the cause of the pain and didn't have any treatment solutions for me. He started by taking a series of X-rays of my entire neck and spine, which he referred to throughout my treatment, along with his extensive notes. We made a treatment plan (3 times a week for the first month or so, then decreased to once a week for her next several weeks). My back pain as I previously knew it is gone and I can sit totally pain free now. I come back in for an adjustment occasionally when I'm feeling stiff or overdo it on exercise.

I will avoid this office if I can help it from now on. I would like to start by saying I am writing…read morethis review not for the doctor himself but his office staff. I was set to have my 20-week ultrasound at this office as per my midwife's request. (This is the ultrasound I've been dying to see since I got my positive pregnancy test). The office called me the day prior to the appointment to ask me to move the appointment up to an earlier time. I informed them I could not do that since my husband and I both work more than an hour from the office and took the late appointment for a reason. I also asked them to make a note on my chart that I may be late due to the long drive and traffic. When I arrived for my appointment (within the 15 minute grace period) I was informed that my ultrasound tech had left for the day when I did not arrive precisely on-time for check out. THEY HADN'T EVEN TRIED TO CONTACT ME before she left!!!!! The office staff did not apologize for their unprofessionalism and even tried to say that because we spoke on the phone the day prior that had been my warning to be on-time. I stood there swelling with pregnancy hormones ready to cry out of frustration, anger, and complete disbelief at what was happening, and these women acted as though this was just standard day at the office. Like canceling appointments without informing the patient is normal and ok, especially pregnant ladies! Then when trying to reschedule they informed me the ultrasound should only take about 15 minutes as if that would make me feel better about driving an hour to their office. In order to make any appointment close to 20 weeks, I was going to have to take a day off work, meaning fewer days I get to spend when my baby arrives all for a 15-minute appointment!?! I was able to get a next day appointment at a time convenient to me at a Northwest Laboratories office where we spent close to an hour (not 15 minutes) looking at my beautiful baby. I have since called to get confirmation that I will not be charged for my "tardiness" and received no response.
