I went here twice and both times I went with the same--a regular cup with two flavors--coconut and passion fruit (dairy free). The coconut had some lovely little cookie bits in it and the passion fruit was made from real fruit as it also had some seeds in it. Both were excellent on their own but really something special together! The space itself is pretty cute. It's a walk up stand though it does have a small indoor space with pastries and a bit of seating out front. It's cheerful and pink and the decor alone will turn your mood around. I love lemon macarons, that and pistachio are my favorite flavors, but I've never encountered a red velvet one. I wanted to like them but they were at the lower end of macarons I've tried. I didn't taste much red velvet flavor. Plus, the filling was very gelatinous and sticky, not smooth and light like it should be. And the outer crust was chewy, not thin and crispy. Maybe the refrigerated case they were stored in altered the texture. Or maybe they needed 10 minutes or so to come to room temperature. Or maybe they were hitting their shelf life. Who knows? I can't speak to their coffee since I'm not a coffee drinker, but don't be drawn in by the macarons.

When the lady server charged me (she said her name was Alexa), she said it was 11.72$ and asked me for my credit card. I gave her my credit card, and she processed it, and I stood there waiting for her to give me a receipt, or to ask me to sign a pad, or the screen. But she didn't. I asked her for a receipt and she said that they were out of paper, so she couldn't print me a receipt. I asked her to email me the receipt and she said she couldn't do it. This was all very strange, as I had absolutely no visual or physical proof of how much she had charged me. On my way home I checked my bank account and I saw that she actually charged me 14.06$, not 11.72$ as she indicated. I walked half a block back to the cafe and I told her very politely that the amount she charged me was not what she told me she would charge, and asked what the difference was due to. She said in a very broken English that turned into Spanish very quickly that the price was BEFORE TAX, and she gave me a very strange explanation about how they add two different taxes. The difference in price was 20%, so this could not be due to taxes (she looked confused when I did the math without using a calculator and she was stuttering). Since I didn't understand, and at this point was no longer about the 20% difference, but about my suspicion that she had overcharged me and was trying to cover up this fact by lying to my face, I asked her if she could show me on the computer, maybe pretend that I was making the purchase again (cause she wouldn't even tell me what the individual prices of the tiramisu and the espresso were). She said that was "impossible", because if she typed an espresso and a tiramisu on the screen, even just to show me, the machine would process it automatically as a sale" (so I guess that if you change your mind mid-ordering you will be stuck with something you don't want?). At that point she said that she would contact the "computer guy to send me a receipt the following day". So I just left feeling very disappointed and cheated. On my way home I saw an email receipt, because as I suspected, she had an Apple application to charge sales, and it automatically sent an email to my credit card-linked email account. When I saw the receipt. 11.72$ was the total WITH TAXES INCLUDED (10.95 + 0.77$), and then a 20% tip (2.34$) that she added herself without telling me, asking me, or giving me the chance to select it myself on the screen. I normally tip generously, and its normal for some restaurants in the area to include tip on a receipt, but this is not what happened here. The fact that this lady lied repeatedly to my face and gave herself a 20% tip that I did not authorize, because she told me that the amount she was charging on the credit card was 11.72$, really annoyed me. This is dishonest behavior. I am not a tourist, I live in South Beach now, and I will never come back to this place. What a shame.

They definitely factor in the extra scoop into the price, with my small ice cream with no extra toppings coming out to almost $15. Overall, it's expensive American/touristy gelato.
