One thing I noticed when I entered the building, was the noticeable stench of urine. (The office is right next to the bathrooms). I was asked to sit, and I sat there for 25 mins PAST my appointment time. No one spoke to me, no one advised me how much longer it would take. I finally got up and asked how much longer it was going to be. The 3 staff members looked clueless, and simply said the Dr. was in surgery and sometimes it runs long. I sat back down, and coincidentally, I was called up within minutes to be escorted to a treatment room. The nurse there was friendly, however, the dentist was NOT. He came in, didn't offer to shake hands, or introduce himself. He mumbled his last name, and sat down. As I explained my situation to him, he simply just stared at me - he looked annoyed. After I was done, he got up and said I needed a CT scan, and he left. I was shocked how unfriendly he was. Every dentist I've ever been to understands the importance of customer service! Especially for a new patient. I didn't like how I was treated, so I got up and left. He might have been the best dentist in the county, but he needs to work on his personal skills. I'm a night grinder and just went in for my second crown on a cracked tooth. Dr. Raymond and her assistant Rosselyn did a wonderful job and I am happily pain free after months of putting it off and suffering through barely being able to chew on that side. He was unwilling to revise his work after clearly explaining what I am feeling. The way he would explain why he refused was very condescending and belittling. On top of all that, I can feel grinding down a tooth that didn't need any drilling. Now I have a throbbing migraine and toothache until I get to see my previous doctor. If could give the hygienist and office staff a separate rating of 5 stars, I certainly would.

Roxanna listened to my (semi- lengthy) problem with my mouth status. I felt reassured with her words. I've had some dismissive comments with Urgent care and a few other Doctors (not dentists). Dr. Goldenberg was open minded and attentive. She listened to what I've been going through with unexplained mouth/ face pain (for several months). I was there to eliminate that it might still be dental related. She did some x rays and even offered to do some extra steps to try to help. The office is relaxed and has a nice atmosphere. I am going to be switching dentists. Nothing against my old dentist, but I just feel more comfortable here.

Unfortunately, numerous things went wrong, and I suffered multiple complications from the surgery. I had all of my teeth removed and seven implants placed--all within just three hours. One of the implants punctured through my jawbone and ended up in my sinus cavity. Others are failing, and I've had bone fragments from the grafts protruding through my gums. I turned to Dr. Samaan for guidance and desperately needed help getting everything corrected. From the very beginning, Dr. Samaan has been nothing short of a godsend. I got a deep cleaning and I can honestly say I didn't feel any pain from the numbing injections she gave me. She is so sweet, super informative the whole way of the cleaning, and made sure constantly that I was comfortable and taken care of. Dr. Askari and Dr. Levy have also been great and informative. I like having a clear plan for my dental care and they have provided that for me. Parking is semi-plentiful but there's a larger shopping area connected to the dental office that you can go and park if needed. Dental office is clean and they have great updated dental machinery.

I was in desperate need of a cleaning, so I made an appointment at JFD's Ventura location as a new patient. In addition to the 25+ pages of documentation I had to fill out and sign online, a total that is beyond absurd, I had to sign another 10 forms in the office. This included multiple pages of paperwork affirming I would actually pay these guys when I was done. That means they must get stiffed on payments by patients all the time. That's not my problem. I showed up early for my appointment, and the guy at the front was as friendly and welcoming as a dragon from Game of Thrones. This guy must hate his job because he has the personality of an unflushed toilet. After waiting for 15 minutes (also ridiculous), I was taken back for X-rays and an exam, and then was told I had TO RETURN ANOTHER DAY for my cleaning. Seriously? I have never been a new patient at a dental practice and NOT received a cleaning on that day. To the office's credit, office manager Jennifer Valadez arranged for me to return the following today at 9:00 a.m. for the cleaning. Fine. And I did, but guess what? Even after arriving early for my appointment, I was kept waiting...and waiting...and waiting some more before I was taken back for my cleaning. Mr. GOT Receptionist asked me to pay for my portion, and then blamed me when the office's credit card reader malfunctioned. Really? He actually expected me to wait there while he fixed it. That's a hard pass, so I suggested remitting payment once my appointment had concluded. Then the hygienist did a very poor job on the polishing of my teeth, spending literally 45 seconds doing it. I asked her, "That's it? You only spend 45 seconds polishing patients' teeth?" Give me a break. When I complained to her, she reluctantly agreed to spend two minutes polishing my teeth. Geez. Worst cleaning ever. Finally, after signing even more forms, I paid and got out of there. I've never seen a dental practice conduct business this way. It boggles the mind, and it was such a miserable experience, I seriously doubt I will return. AVOID, AVOID, AVOID...AT ALL COSTS! UPDATE: I discovered after the fact, following the posting of this review, that Johnson Family Dental is NOT a local dental practice at all anymore. It is owned by Smile Brands, a multibillion-dollar medical conglomerate which has acquired hundreds of local dental practices across the country just like JFD. No wonder patient treatment and quality of service are so dreadful.
