This super thin pork belly with sauce instantly wants to turn into charcoal. Okay next topic. In my not humble opinion, Korean BBQ should be eaten with veggie wraps (쌈). Their combos are plated with a single big leaf of lettuce under the other lonely veggies, as if saying, "yes, we realize that is something to serve, but people that have never heard of "ssam" in their life aren't gonna eat it anyways." Ugh. Looking through pictures for this joint, I can see that some customers got a big thing of lettuce salad as a banchan, but for unknown reasons, we did not. Pretty interesting that Americans are so unable to grasp the concept of vegetables in any context outside of salads that they will be oblivious to the fact that Korean BBQ is eaten with lettuce wrap, but then have a crappy lettuce salad on the side. Glorious. We did end up asking for ssamjang and lettuce. So they do have most of these things. You just have to ask for it. But like, lettuce wrap isn't even listed as an option on sides. But of course they don't have kkaennip. You know what? Next time I see an American-Korean barbecue joint with perilla, it's an instant five stars.
