Banchan Macro Bowl (special) + Creamsicle Shake
    Dana S.

Finally tried Kokomo. I loved the looks of their menu so it was no surprise that my first meal hit the spot, so much so that I went back for another 2 days later (and it's a little out of the way for me). Visit #1: I got the banchan macro bowl (weekly special) and a creamsicle shake. It was a tough choice because there was so many appealing options. I loved the flavourful sauces and juicy crispy tofu paired with mild kabocha and lots of fresh veggies in the banchan bowl. The creamsicle shake scratched an itch for an orange shake that I've been craving for literal years but just hadn't found a quality option to satisfy - it was just thick and creamy enough, and using real oranges gave it a really vibrant juicy flavour. The coconut whip topping is a natural complement to the orange. Visit #2: Shawarma macro bowl and a Kits bar. This bowl was also a flavour explosion with juicy soy curls and a crisp green salad. I really loved the three different sauces used (a tzatziki, a green garlic sauce, and the shawarma marinade) both individually and in combination. The tofu feta also had a nice taste and was a very effective replacement for feta cheese. The Kits bar (like a vegan Nanaimo bar) is one of several desserts/pastries they carry from TurF bakery. I liked the soft ganache used as the top chocolate layer better than the hard chocolate of a traditional Nanaimo bar. Every bite melted in my mouth. So good. I feel that their food combines the best of comfort food and health food - they don't shy away from going big on flavour but at the same time you get a lot of veggies and natural ingredients, and a nutritionally balanced meal. The atmosphere is very minimal, although I imagine the patio area out front would be nice when the weather is better. It's just a few tables with a long bench and chairs set up along the perimeter of the space inside, but I found it comfortable enough, and it is kept very clean. Both nights, the staff member working out front was super friendly.

My office ordered takeout from this spot and we were so pleasantly surprised! The flavors were amazing and well portioned. The coconut turmeric broth went really well with vermicelli noodles. Loved all the vegan options - super healthy.

At this branch, there is only one staff member, regardless of whether it's busy or quiet. She handles everything--preparing orders, assisting customers, and taking orders. She is extremely professional, friendly, and patient, even while managing everything alone. Big shout-out to her. One last downside: for some reason, napkins, spoons, and straws are unavailable 99% of the time. They are only brought out from behind the counter when an order is ready, and then taken back again, so you always have to ask for them. I was walking around with a sweatshirt and down jacket on all day when it wasn't actually that cold of a day. Started feeling kinda hot and so...felt like something refreshing for dinner. I had somewhere I needed to go to in the Brentwood area so the Tables food court at Brentwood was a convenient place to go for dinner, and and acai bowl from Oakberry was just what I needed to fill my tummy and cool me down at the same time. I ordered the Crunchy Signature bowl which came with acai, chia pudding, granola, strawberry, blueberry and cacao nibs. Super delicious and refreshing in every bite! Is there anything more satisfying than eating a meal that's healthy and delicious at the same time? Oakberry just became my new favorite at the Tables food court. I've had acai bowls in a bunch of places and I think Oakberry is one of my favorites now. Service: Good Parking: Plentiful and free (You need to scan a QR code and register for the free parking)

I then suggested that we come back to Kitsilano but try Kokomo instead since I had some plant based deals for Kokomo and they sell the same kind of stuff. So we came and used out both my plant based deals. One was a BOGO free deal on summer drinks, and the other was 25% of any Kokomo bowl. My daughter got a Hibiscus lemonade, I got a Spearmint lemonade and we shared a Kokomo acai bowl which had frozen acai, berries, banana, raw granola (house-made), mint and toasted coconut. The drinks weren't bad but I wasn't blown away by them either. They were refreshing and thirst quenching for the hot summer day that it was. Don't think I need to try Spearmint lemonade again though. This was our first time trying and Acai bowl, and we are totally hooked on them now! I wanna learn how to make this at home now. It was so refreshing. Is there anything more satisfying than eating something that's healthy and tastes good too?! I suppose you could also just call it a smoothie bowl. As much as we enjoyed this combination, I could see us having a similar type of bowl at home and substituting the acai with some other kind of pureed fruit. 5/5 for the Kokomo acai bowl! Highly recommend it!

I love how their food combines the flavours of comfort food with healthy wholesome ingredients. They carry baked goods from TurF, many of which also offer a slightly healthier take on traditional baked goods without comprising flavour. And everything is vegan! Pretty small inside, but I really like the vibe. Somehow it kind of reminds me of a camper, maybe it's the shape... If that's not your thing there's a patio area outside with picnic tables which is also great for soaking in good weather when it's nice out.

Their restaurant is not too big so wouldn't recommend it for a big group. My friend and I both got their crispy chicken crepe - hers was tapioca (gluten free) and mine was traditional crepe. Both were soo good! The tapioca one had a different texture - it was a bit more chewy. Not a bad option if you are gluten free! We also got their nutellacino which was basically a nutella cappuccino! It was definitely as good as it tasted. Their menu was a lot different than the last time I came here (around 3 yrs ago) and I really liked all the new items they introduced. I would definitely consider this place again when I'm looking for a good brunch spot! Also their service was really fast! And they had a coat rack too :)

I hadn't been back in a long time, so I decided to stop by last Saturday. The first thing I noticed was how clean and organized the restaurant is. They have a self-serve station stocked with water, utensils, napkins, and takeout containers. This is such a thoughtful touch and makes it so convenient. I ordered the Namaste Fresh Rolls, and they were absolutely incredible. There were fresh, and the peanut sauce was perfect. Honestly, I could have eaten several of them! I also had the Rickshaw Bowl, which was packed with flavour. To drink, I tried their signature coconut shake, and as someone who's a sucker for anything coconut, it did not disappoint. Before leaving, I also picked up a pint of their Vietnamese Coffee ice cream (still in my freezer)! If you're a peanut butter lover, you have to get their dark chocolate peanut butter. It was amazing! I enjoyed last Saturday so much that I came back the next day for dinner. This time I ordered their famous Golden Temple Soup with noodles and organic tofu, along with the Sunrise Fresh Rolls. The soup lived up to the hype. The curry broth was rich, comforting, and full of flavour. The noodles had the perfect texture and the organic tofu was excellent. And once again, their fresh rolls were fantastic! Before I left, I had the chance to chat with the owner, who was incredibly kind and friendly. She shared a little about the business, and it was clear how much care and passion goes into the restaurant. I genuinely wish them continued success.
