She then informed me that they were unfortunately out of cream cheese so I ordered a danish instead. There was a man behind the counter and he asked if i planned to stay for at least 20-30 min. I said yes. The danish was brought to my table nice and warm and it was delish. The coffee, which I ordered hot, was also delicious. About 15 minutes later the barista brought me a perfectly toasted bagel with cream cheese and said the owner said it was on the house. I think he ran out to purchase some cream cheese just for us! We chose a savory breakfast sandwich, an Almond Croissant and another sweet pastry. In line, the offered to heat our sandwich which we allowed. Then we ordered coffees, paid and sat down. A few minutes later, we walked back up to collect our coffees. The breakfast sandwich was tasty, though the ham and cheese in the center of the sandwich was untouched by the heating process. Next time, we'll ask for a longer heating cycle. The pastries were good. Not as good as made that morning in Paris, but better than most places we've been in the US. We also took some dessert pastries home for later that same night. My wife's was sort of ho-hum but mine was fabulous. I had what I guess would be a cro-nut?? Sort of like a doughnut that was made in layers of pastry, then cut out with a donut cutter. It had a filling in the center and had a sugary coating. SO GOOD!
