These guys do a good job of spinnin' those discs and jamming those vinyl records. Being that they're an Austin City Limits radio station, that doesn't limit them to one genre of music. ACL music series- the show, and the concert series have had music all over the map. So if you say that you're an ACL radio station, you can really get away with playing just about anything, there's gotta be some way that every major artist is somehow associated with either the show or the concert series. If you don't like the genre of music, just like the weather in Texas, just give it a few minutes, and it'll change. I do get sick of the number of commercials that these guys play.

Well, not 'anything' since they don't play most of the crap that I avoid elsewhere. I have a couple of CD compilations from them that I play the hell out of. I'm too far away to hear it on a regular basis anymore but whenever I beg, borrow or steal my way to Austin, I'm all ears.

This is a Christian radio station that makes no compromises. Sure, there are things I wish were a…read morelittle different -- like I wish they would give the names of the singers or bands or even the names of the songs they play, but I also understand that they are working on a thin (though strong surviving) shoestring budget and they are not here to advertise anyone's name other than Christ Jesus. I used to find this channel hard to listen to because they asked for money SO often. It's especially hard to listen to that when you wish you could give them all they needed and can't. But this year I have checked them out again and they are no longer asking for money all the time and I can relax and really enjoy the excellent programming of Christian music (most songs of which I have never heard and have no idea who is singing them) with a wide spectrum of variety of Christian music, including (less often) songs sung in Spanish praising the Lord, and even rap and hip-hop. There are a few songs which I'm kind of tired of hearing that are obviously the station masters' favorites, but hey, I can't complain. I am VERY impressed by the sermons they play on this station. I have found them incredibly sound in Bible doctrine. I do wish the sermons would be rotated more often. The repetitions on this channel keep me from just leaving the radio on all the time on this station. I can only handle just so much repetition -- and those who are programming the channel don't seem to realize that some people would listen to them 24/7 if they would add a LOT more variety in songs and sermons. Hey, but beggars can't be choosers, and we are living in a famine of the Word in our world today, so I'll take the crumbs and still give it 5 stars. This channel has been running in Austin for some 30 years and I am very, very grateful to those who have made it happen -- and without hardly any commercials ever. (They have allowed one or two commercials through in the six years I have listened to them on and off, but I haven't heard even one commercial this year -- though I, again, do not listen all the time.) When I give this channel a 5-star rating, it is partly because I'm grading on a curve. While it is not in my opinion the best it could be, at the same time it is the best Christian station I have ever listened to!

It seems that they have to share their broadcast with Austin community radio, KOOP. But this station does the student body well- if you're a UT student, you can get on the air if you're interested! They'll train ya, and get you spinnin' vinyl in no time- you don't even need to be a broadcast major or anything! Got some good tunes to share? Sign up! The station is a community non-profit, so there's no advertisements like other stations, just the occasional public service announcement reminding you not to drink bleach or to register to vote. Informative stuff! They sometimes do special programs on this station, that are always interesting. They have an upcoming program on how to do a kickflip. Hard hitting! Ideally, this would be a good station to tune in at work, since you'll rarely hear the same song twice. I always hate listening to muzak or top 40 hits on repeat, which you'll never hear on this station. Tune in, turn on!

Ron U. (Disco Duck) and Larry E (El Toro Brovo). They are funny as shit and you can chat live with them and request some tunes. I can't name many Tejano bands, but, that's where Google comes in. I've just recently discovered that I actually like La Mafia! They're playing it right now!! It's clear that our two Yelpers come here and have a good ass time. Not sure what goes on in the studio but they appear to get drunk or get the munchies (ahem) and cut up and play some really good stuff including occasional disco. Yep disco and other stuff. You don't need to know how to speak Spanish or even Spanglish for that fact to enjoy the broadcast. I love all kinds of music and while living here in Texas I have grown quite fond of Tejano. But, like I said I need Google. Now I have Google and the Disco Duck and wild man Larry E. I love listening to their shows and try to catch them on their usual Friday afternoons. Keep up the good work drunk mofo's ( :) ). P.S. I think they get paid with booze and food? P.S.S. You never know what you're going to hear coming through the mic! Flatulence is not off limits!!
