Dr. Kohorst is an excellent optometrist! My eye exam was so thorough that it took about an hour to complete. I found it to actually be a pleasurable experience, since he is so personable and such a fine conversationalist. Thus far I have ordered one pair of eyeglasses and one pair of sunglasses, and am pleased to report that my eyesight through the new lenses is now excellent, so the prescription was obviously right on point. The office environment here is inviting, and all staff members I have encountered have been friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. The available selection of frames is good, and prices are reasonable. I left a review (review is by old account) almost ten years ago, and came back here to send screenshot reviews to a friend of mine who needs a new eye doctor. However, in reading the reviews about the staff, I realized some of the sentiments echoed my recent experiences. Dr. Kohorst is as wonderful as ever. HOWEVER, his receptionist is downright unfriendly. It was so bad, I actually dreaded coming back to pick up my glasses/contacts. It's truly unfortunate as Dr. Kohorst and the rest of his staff is just a dream. This receptionist almost negates the others' wonderfulness. read more

My family and I have known Dr. Kohorst since we moved to Nevada in 2000. Our kids grew up playing Little League Baseball together! I must confess, he is a much better Optometrist than a baseball coach!! (Just Kidding!) Seriously though, Dr Kohorst is professional and thorough! His staff is friendly and courteous! I've been going to Dr. Kohorst for 6 years and is he wonderful! He's affable, down to earth, and has a great sense of humor. His personality and service brings to mind small town America of yesteryear, for lack of a better description. It's nice to find that today and in a hustle-bustle town like Las Vegas. Excellent optometrist and very professional too, with a support staff that continues the quality of service all the way ot the door. *Another entrepeneural business owner who has been seeing him since she was a college student was so inspired by him she wrote a published article to the effect of "What Would Dr. Kohorst Do?" in determining her decisions making/attitude. =) read more

I must say Dr. Kohorst and his staff are wonderful and very personable and customer service oriented. However...... Whoever is answering the phones for this business (Keith Kohorst and Craig Hamilton share this practice) definitely needs to go back to customer service 101. When I first started researching for a new eye doctor as I have only been here in Vegas 3 years and now that I had better vision coverage I wanted an actual eye doctor and not just a random office. But I must admit, when I contacted this office, I was less than impressed w/the phone service I received. The woman who answered was not very friendly and quite honestly came across as harsh or like she hated being there. I almost booked w/another doctor, because she did not give the impression the office was friendly in any way. Imagine how surprised I was when I arrived at my appointment with my daughter, because we both had appts. that day and I was pleasantly greeted and the ladies were very friendly and outgoing. Dr. Kohorst also made the time fly by, and we were taken a little bit before our actual scheduled appointments and he was very professional as well as friendly. Definitely had both myself and my daughter at ease. Well I have to say I just figured, maybe whoever had initially answered the phone, was having a bad day when I called. However, I went in the day before Christmas eve for my appt. and I needed to order some glasses. I was told at that time due to the holidays and the fact the order was coming out of California, it may take a little while for my glasses to arrive. I said that was fine. I actually lost track of time and on the 17th of January I realized I had never heard from the eye doctors office, so I called. I got the rude woman again.... so I gave her my name and asked if my glasses were in because I knew it might take a little while but I hadn't heard from anyone and in another week it would be a month since my appt. The woman stated that my glasses were indeed there and then very rudely she added that the office had called me and left a voice mail on the 28th of December. I let her know that I never received a message at all. She said "well we left a message on the 28th at xxx, xxx, xxxx (which was my number)". I then confirmed that indeed that was my correct cell phone number but I never got the message. then she harshly responded "well we called on the 28th." So here's my thing...... One, I'm sorry that I never did receive the message. Two, if you didn't hear back from me by like maybe the 5th or 6th, then where is the customer service of a call back asking "did you receive our previous message?" or how about even "we noticed your glasses had not been picked up yet" . When I went into the office this time, I walked in and the woman at the desk when I arrived looked up but there was no greeting. Once I walked to the front of the counter..... I was just asked "can I help you?" no smile, or any friendliness, at all. In fact she was slightly slumped over looking like she hated her job and I was bothering her. Either way I did let the staff know before I left how rude their phone personnel was and I guess I will be researching again for another eye doctor for my next check up. :( As much as we appreciated the Doctor's quality service, it just seems like such a bummer that we have to go thru "negative Nellie" in order to get to him. read more

This is the best optometrist office I have ever been to. I used to go to Shepherd Eye Center and felt like I was just herded around like cattle. In Dr. Kohorsts office you feel like one of the family. All of the women in the front office are so personable, and knowledgeable. Explaining things as they do them and making you feel comfortable.
