My previous experiences have been very lackluster, just guys trying to sell suits. In comparison, as soon as I walked in to this store, I felt welcomed. My concerns and comments were listened to and my wants were accommodated. Bruce, the owner of the store, was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. He made excellent recommendations and made me feel very confident in my choice and preferences. The store itself is beautiful; set against the backdrop of an old, stylish house, the clothes are presented beautifully and the atmosphere is one of comfort and homey-ness. Bruce and his amazing store have earned a customer for life!

I'm a tough grader but Strauss hasn't failed to put a smile on my face every single time. I will say that this place is usually busy throughout the year, which itself speaks of their service. So, be patient and you'll love the results in the end. And I have to say Bruce is a great guy to know. Just ask him about his collection of The Rolling Stones and The Beatles and you'll know what I mean.

The manager was a creepy person who smoked cigars and made uncomfortable awkward comments in the parking lot. At one point he told me I should go home with him to learn some manners. I think this was because I wasn't able to tie a tie or I wanted the pant legs longer, something trivial. Regardless, not appropriate. Writing this review 3 years later should be an indicator about how strongly and certain I feel about this establishment. Perhaps the CEO should rethink his anti-background checking policy. It has obviously backfired in this situation. Read: http://money.cnn.com/galleries/2007/biz2/0705/gallery.contrarians.biz2/10.html I'm buying my suits online from now on.

We're not talking generic stuff either, the skirt and one of the tops were calvin kline and i saw a gucci purse there (not my style, but it was in great shape and has a great price). The best part about this place, however, is how the proceeds go to various community projects and scholarships. Quick Rundown: Atmosphere: 5/5 - nice little boutique vibe - reminds me of some of the vintage shops i once frequented when i lived in Los Angeles. The music was a perfect mix of pop/rock from the 80s/90s/00s and wasn't so loud you couldn't think. Staff: 5/5 Super sweet, and very helpful. They offered to get a room ready for me once they saw the number of items i was carrying about (probably thought i had lost my mind - which i suppose i had what with those prices). Parking/Location: 5/5 It's right on College Ave. It has a large parking lot and is easily within walking distance of Elmira College, Jimmy Johns, and the equally fabulous Yeni's ice cream parlor. Get there during one of their amazing dollar days and I bet you too will quickly be a convert! :)

I found some items here to catch my eye, mainly the men's button-downed shirts, with a variety and style that I haven't seen before. I don't stop at Burlington on a frequent basis, which probably explains there are new products. Spending a lot time of viewing each department, I found by surprised to see the public restroom closed and also the fitting rooms closed. It's definitely temporary, but why could that be?! As I was checking out, I even complimented the cashier on how great the store looked. She thanked me, which is awesome to see.
