My shopping experiences have been good but I've never felt so unappreciated donating. My mom, a…read morenonsmoker, passed away and probably like most people in this position, they donate to local thrift stores. I first brought a couple boxes of teapots she had stored in her garage. After going through the donation drive thru I decided to take a trip inside and look around. They were immediately putting those teapots into a glass case in the store. As the women was putting them out I mentioned they were my mom's who had just passed away and she went on a tirade about how filthy they were and she had to wash them. She made me feel horrible but the funny thing is when I stopped there a week later they were all gone, sold! On another donate day, I had bags of mom's clothes and a few boxes of housewares, hard goods. When the guy outside noticed I was smoking in my car, he refused to take any of it, which was in my trunk. He said it all stunk like smoke and they didn't want it!! How it came directly from my mom's house and picked up smoke odor that quickly is beyond me. I went across the street to Goodwill and they took it all and thanked me. I have vastly changed my opinion of this store and am sorry I have ever donated anything there. I'm sure they made good money on all they things donated from mom, including furniture that they had no problem accepting.

I shopped here several times during a recent visit to Minnesota and found mostly great stuff,…read moreincluding: * stuff for kids (Spiderman temporary tatoos, toy cars, stickers, art supplies, Huggies pull-ups, Cars and Dora plastic plates, etc.) * milk and other drinks and foods * toiletries * household supplies Things are not just $1 each like at some dollar stores, but most things are reasonably priced. I think they only take cash or checks (no credit cards). 3.5 stars

Family Dollar is a fast growing company. It is not like other stores that say "Dollar", but more…read morelike a mini Target. The store is well organized if not a bit crowded. Prices: Be careful. Some items more expensive than Target or your local Hardware Hank for that matter. We saw some women's and girls clothes of very low quality at prices starting at $9 for a small pair of shorts that don't look like that they could survive a first washing. There are greeting cards for a dollar that look far more expensive, a few toiletries like major brand deodorant, but household cleaning supplies is where I found the steeper prices. Dawn dish washing detergent in the smaller condensed bottle was $1.65 compared to $1 at Dollar Tree. Since there is no Target or other large store on the Hwy 8 stretch I would say this is a great value and convenient place for the locals.

This is now Gladje!…read more I visited for the first time on Small Business Saturday and was overwhelmed at the space they have - the building seems to go on forever and there are a few small rooms to check out too. Right away we were greeted by a sweet and bubbly employee and told what deals they had happening and she explained a little bit about the place. There's a check out desk near the back of the building and a painter actively working who was also very friendly. They didn't seem at all perturbed by little ones running around, they welcomed a family with little children and weren't nervous about them breaking anything (there's much to look at and potentially break!) Prices were higher but they're all local artists so I am absolutely not complaining. I got a book for my godchild that was signed by the local author as well as a cute travel puzzle for her birthday - I know she'll love it. I would love to check out their classes and wish I was more local to check out their live music on Saturdays too, such a warm and friendly place!
