Shania Twains song "That Don't Impress Me," describes my sentiments about Kohls. I used to really like them, now despite their addition of Lego sets, I find them overrated. Their stocks are all over the place, and I wonder if they will emerge or sink? This location is extremely clean, organized, and has some extremely nice employees. One minor annoyance. The cashiers are required to inquire if you'd like a Kohl's credit card. The answer will always be a no. As a man in mid 40's, I will concede I'm probably not their targeted demographic. They have a fair amount of clothes for young bucks. Their dress clothes selection is atrocious. So are their ties. I'm not one bit impressed with their shoes on sale. This is a gimmick in my opinion, as I find a lot of these items for less elsewhere. How many hoodies do I need to wear? Their colognes are cheap, and for the high school and maybe college crowd. It's a shame but I just find nothing that stands out about this or other Kohl's. read more

Disgusted by our store. A shell of its former self. Employees eliminated at the returns and refunds desk. Only one checkout station verses two. Only one or two employees at that single checkout. No one to help with pickup items, whickbis managed with an app when you arrive at the store. And the embeded Sephora is a joke. Obvious signs that Kohls is either too cheap to pay employees or in its death throws and desperately avoiding filing for Chapter 11 and go out of business. The cashier who checked me out got mad and threw the receipt on the table because I was requesting my receipt while she was on her mobile phone. AWFUL SERVICE. Copying my review from google so more people know that this place has the WORST customer service. I've been to many kohls around NOVA and this is probably one of the worst ones I've been to. In terms of customer service, most of the workers seemed to be annoyed with the customers entering in the morning. Specifically, our cashier was very rude. I didn't catch her name because she ushered my mom and I out of registers before I could even put our phone number in (even though we were making a small purchase.) Beware of most of their associates, especially the one with the curly brown hair. 7/8/19 Kohl's Department Store, My old stomping ground. Normally I drive to the Fair Lakes location, but my wife wanted to go to the Burke store. The drive seemed longer even though it us closer to where we live....nevermind its actually farther. The store seemed dead and I did not see much of anyone on the store. Nevertheless we found the shoes needed for my wife. During the wait time, I wrote reviews from our past trip to Seattle. I am now close to wrapping up my vacation reviews. Kohl's is a great store for buying good clothes at a great price. The discounts on top of discounts are fantastic. Especially when your buying something you really like. I have bought diamond jewelry and gotten a 30% off coupon to add on top of a 60, 65 and 70% off sale. When I was an employee, all of those discounts with my 15% discount on top of everything else was a real treat. This does not include the special 30% off employees get at times for their discount. Today I noticed Amazon gifts can be returned to Kohl's Department Stores. Mmm nice. I just got overcharged for a purchase I made at Kohl's in Burke for a Pre-Christmas present for myself. GET THIS: I spoke with Kohl's who overcharged me for the Uggs and they had the nerve to ask me to drive back to the Kohl's in Burke where I purchased them and stood in line for about an hour or two to do so. By the time I got to the front of the line to pick them up, the store was closed. They would not refund the difference over the phone and wanted me to be further inconvenienced by driving 30 minutes back to the store for them to charge me the right price and then I would have to wait for the refund of the wrong price to go back to my credit card. This kind of service is why I tell people to be very wary of shopping at Kohls. Now I understand why people don't shop there and I will be one of those people! read more

The few times I have had to come here have been very unpleasant experiences. The employees here are not nice. They are the worst with customer service. For starters kohls is way overpriced and the only thing keeping them going due to declining sales and profits is probably by adding amazon return and a Sephora inside. I don't know what manager oversees these hires but just an fyi to your employees it doesn't hurt to be kind and nice.I literally had to return a Amazon package I said in a nice tone hello how are you today. And another time I unfortunately had to buy a kids toy there because my Amazon package got misplaced. It was for a birthday gift. I had to pay over $60 dollars more here at the store. They don't price match. It is literally a rip off. The lady at the check out up front seemed miserable. She was unpleasant as well when speaking to her. One of my favorite places to get shirts, jeans, and jackets without breaking the bank. I always find the selection here to be pretty good, and there's always something I can take home with me if I'm in the mood for something new. This location in particular is pretty huge. The one thing that irks me about the Kohl's chain is that you can never tell if you're getting a good deal or not. They've got BOGO-type deals, scratch-offs for a percent off, Kohl's Bucks, early and late-day sales (?), a credit card, and more -- like Pam P. here observes, why don't they just go with one flat price on everything? Are they helping the consumers here, or hurting them? At any rate, it's worth it anyway, and I have to admit, there is something to be said for scratching off a ticket and finding out you're getting 20% off the entire purchase, regardless of whether that's really a deal or not. read more

Pros: Good store and friendly staff, and the prices are decent. However I doubt they are as expensive as the "original price" would indicate. I'm sure this is at any Kohls, so I don't mean this store in particular. Also their $10 coupons for every $50 spent, it's a little more bang for your buck. Why don't I shop at Kohl's more often? This place is great. The Simply Vera by Vera Bradley, J.Lo, and Lauren Conrad lines here all have a plethora of adorable items, and everything is always on sale! I need to remember this the next time I'm tempted to max out my Nordstom card with like, six things. The store itself was actually quite well maintained, given the level of orderliness I come to expect from this level of store. There wasn't too much misplaced merchandise, and while the clearance racks were a bit of a mess (but aren't they always?), the main displays were neat and tidy. Obviously you're not going to get the same kind of service you would at Neiman Marcus, but every person I saw seemed happy and helplful, which is definitely good enough for me! Today my retail therapy resulted in two pairs of stretchy leggings that look like real pants (everybody wins!) and three awesome, cozy sweaters. And yes, obviously one has polka dots. Duh. Five heavy duty items for less than $90! Boss. The girl at the register was nice enough to swipe a magazine coupon for an extra 20% off right at the end! without me even asking! I kind of like Kohls and I kind of don't. It's so-so. Good points: The sales, especially on basics. Great for kid's sneakers, tablewares, tee-shirts and shorts, that sort of thing. Hecht's is no more, but I viewed this store as a good alternative to that. Bad points - particular to Burke Kohl's -- Cashiers here are often slow and for some unknown reason they get slower if the line of customers gets longer. The store can be messy. Dressing rooms especially have clothes strewn all over them, and the clothes are often hung too high or not hung up at all, falling on the floor of the store. read more

My mom who is having medical issues where it's hard for her to walk or carry things needed to drop an Amazon package off for return (Kohl's and Amazon have partnered together). Because the package was too heavy and she could barely walk she pulled up quickly to the pick up parking space to get someone's attention. A woman/employee came out and my mom explained her situation, asking if she could get some help to carry the package in due to her disability. The woman rudely said "we don't do that here, and also you need to get out from the pick up parking spot right now!" and then went back inside. Where are your employees humanity? I've always had a good experience here until I heard about how my mom was treated. This review is not because they wouldn't help her take the stuff inside, this review is how she was treated with no compassion or kindness from the employee. I will not be returning and will be letting people know to stay clear of this location. Avoid at all costs! read more

They recently renovated the store and moved the customer service department to the front. I stopped in the other day looking for a new pair of shoes. The selection was decent but nothing to write home about. I found a pair and went to go checkout. That is where the fun started. Jodi was my Cashier and all of 9 months pregnant. Her demeanor was slightly less than enthusiastic to be working, but when you are ready to drop I can understand her situation. I agree that when the checkout line gets long the cashiers slow down. It's a Kohl's: the sales are great and if you have a Kohl's card they are really good about honoring your coupons. However, there are some issues that I have with the Kohl's here. This Kohl's constantly feels understocked and disorganized. It think it's in part because it's a popular place for Burke residents to shop and it's too small for its shopping population, but regardless, it never seems to have the sizes or items I need. It's also a bit dated as it hasn't gotten the renovation that other Kohl's have gotten and it's really dark inside. The sales staff there is generally helpful and considerate, with several extremely unprofessional experiences I have had there where the sales staff were so condescending in their attitudes that I wondered if they realized the customers could hear them talk back under their breath and make snide comments of other customers in the store. It was really terrible. But in general: the sales staff is polite and considerate, just not terribly discrete. There are better Kohl's in the country, but this one will do in a pinch. read more

THANK YOU, Kohl's, for your community service! Every year Burke Presbyterian Church conducts a sweater drive for homeless men who reside in a medical recovery facility in the District. Church members purchase new sweaters for the 80-90 men in residence during the holidays. Every year, sweaters must be exchanged--most without receipts--to have the right sizes. Kohl's is the only department store I have found which will allow me to do a one-for-one, no receipt exchange of a large number of sweaters. This goes a long way toward making it possible to gift each gentelman in the shelter with a beautiful new sweater, gift-bagged with his name, in the right size to fit him. I received awful customer service at the Burke customer service counter on Friday Sept 15th when I went to the counter for a price adjustment on a purchase from 2 days prior. I was told they don't do price adjustments. So I asked for the person to call her manager and ask about it. Well she called someone and I could hear the loud laughter coming out of the phone. (I don't thinks she bothered calling a manager.) So I left the line rather than argue with nonsense. I called the Kingstowne store manager right away and he said sorry about that but that if came back there he would take care of everything for me. I wish I would have thought to ask for the Burke store manager right then. Because now when I call the store to speak to the manager, I'm told they are off today. Calling their corporate line is no better, I've been on hold for 18 minutes waiting for someone in charge! Seems they are not training people correctly and no one is checking stores to see that associates are being trained. I filled out a store feedback form online and was given a message that there is no guarantee that someone will respond. What away to run a business. One of their tag lines is Kohl's Cares, it doesn't seem like they care about customer service. I wonder if I'll ever get a response.... hanging up now got my own things to do. read more

I attempted to shop and your Burke location today however it was your inventory day so i could not do that. I was literally bumped into twice by employees counting shirts I guess. I'm not exaggerating there are 20 plus people in the same area. I did politely complain before I left and suggesting spreading the inventory people, a little perhaps.
