Since we'd be at Square One I checked out what restaurants are in the food court. This one caught my eye since it's different from the usual that you can find at any mall food court. We went with the Spicy Pork Korean Bowl. This includes gochujang pork, pineapple salsa, beets, corn, crispy onions, cilantro, jalapeños, and citrus cilantro. The nice lady working there asked if I wanted to switch any of the ingredients for something else. We started with purple rice as the base and changed out the cilantro and jalapeños for gari (Japanese pickled ginger) and sesame seeds. There are several sauces to choose from and we went with the miso sesame. I found it to be a bit too creamy for my liking. It's a decent sized meal for 1 person and definitely sharable with another if you get something else to go with it. There's several bases, toppings and garnishes to choose if you want to fully customize your meal. I'd like to try another Korean bowl or even a bao next time. read more

I've passed Koha a dozen times on my way to some other store in the Square One Food court, so I decided to try it out while I had a 50% offer on Ritual. I'm a huge poke lover, but I just couldn't love this poke. First, portion size runs small, but this is normal for the Square One food court. I had 50% and paid around $7-8 but at original price ($13.50) you could get a lot more elsewhere. In terms of flavour and quality, this place is imo the worst amongst all other poke places I've been. Bottom line is it doesn't really taste like poke. Some ingredients don't feel like they fit well with poke (ex. beets throwing off the flavour of the bowl, too much of the sour carrots making the bowl very sour), there isn't much of the watery sauce (ginger ponzu), and the rice was very soft/almost watery. I asked for extra salmon in my bowl (an extra $3.50 or so) and received no extra salmon in comparison to the same salmon poke bowl I got with a regular amount of salmon lol. I'm not sure if it's because this place is a fusion kitchen but all the flavours felt very strange, and that's coming from a person who always opts for the weirdest ice cream flavour choice on any menu. I didn't enjoy it, wanted to give up on my bowl halfway, and don't think I have a desire to be back. For anyone else who eats this bowl, I do recommend refrigerating it for a couple hours before eating. It tastes a LOT better cold. read more

I was so excited when Koha Pacific Kitchen opened in Square One, and waited a couple of weeks after they opened to actually order from here so I could see reviews & know what to order (I'm a bit picky..). After seeing some mixed reviews, I was hesitant to order and never did until today. I am actually disappointed in myself for not ordering sooner. The food is SO good! I ordered the Build your own Box (again, because I am picky and didn't like all the toppings in the premade box choices). I couldn't decide between the Korean BBQ Chicken or the Beef Bulgogi, but the lady who was serving my friend & I, let us try a piece of each. I ended up picking the Beef Bulgogi. As my base, I got half purple rice and half white rice (in case I didn't like the purple rice lol). On top, I chose pineapple salsa, corn, edamame, fried onions, & green onions. For my sauce, I chose the Miso Sesame. 100% would order again and again and again. The flavours worked so well together (even the pineapple salsa!). It's a bit pricey for what you get, but it's worth the splurge once in a while. My bowl came up to just under $13 CDN. read more

I come here only for the panko tofu bun - they are so crunchy and yummy that I barely try anything else on the menu ever since I discovered these. Even the BBQ chicken buns are tasty but I am biased. The buns cost $5 each and are totally worth it. During Covid-19 you can order ahead and do pick up as well. read more

3.5* Very similar to Basil Box (their neighbour)...but with protein like raw fish and $5 baos. Currently, portions vs. price is quite good. I wrote "currently" because it just opened, so perhaps these things will change after they've gained a bit of popularity. Poke bowls range from $10-13 and taxes in "The Hot Mix" (salmon/tuna poke) was $15 'n change. As a base, you do have a choice of: Spring Mix, Zucchini noodles, quinoa, purple/white rice and I was given the option of selecting 2 of those items. If you're dining in the Food Court, items were placed on a rectangular plate. I found the plate a bit difficult to mix all the items together. A bowl would've been easier! Second time having the Bulgogi Bowl. It was equally as delicious and unique from orher places as the first time trying it downtown. You can pick your 3 veggies (red cabbage, beets, kim chi) and 3 garnishes (cilantro, green onion, jalapenos). So good! Highly recommend. read more

I tried this new addition to the Square One food court yesterday after seeing it come up on Yelp. Koha Pacific Kitchen has a few dining options that I think would satisfy a range of cravings. The prices range from $5 for baos and about $10-$13 for bowls depending on which one you pick. They have some baos, preset Korean bowl options, preset poke bowls and a build your bowl option. I chose the last option after seeing the size of the baos, which looked like a decent size if I were to get two but it was hard to resist the idea of picking the toppings and sauces that I wanted. I picked purple rice for my base (you can pick 2 kinds if you want), ribeye steak bulgogi for protein, then 3 veggies (edamame, kimchi, pineapple salsa), toppings (sesame seeds, crispy onions, cilantro), as well as spicy mayo and some kind of sweet chili sauce. It was about $13 something including tax for a decent portion. It was presented nicely inside the takeout box and looked really appetizing. Upon taking my first few bites of it, I noticed right away how fresh it all tasted. The different flavours worked well together from the sweet marinade on the bulgogi, to that distinct kimchi flavour, the tanginess of the pineapple salsa, crisp of the onions, to the blend of the sauces. I was definitely happy with my dinner choice! In terms of portion size that you get, I was really hungry so I found that it was enough for me but it may not be filling enough for someone that eats larger portions (ex: hubby dearest). I think that the one con in terms of portions is that Basil Box has the same concept of building your own bowl but their portions are almost double this place's bowl portions for the same price and you can pick more than 3 toppings. Just something to keep in mind for those who consider value when deciding what to eat from the food court. This place is great though if you want something different than some of the other standard food court offerings which was the case with me yesterday evening. The verdict? Worth trying if you're at Square One! I'll definitely be back to try some more of their other offerings. read more

Ordered the Bulgogi Beef Bowl and as the young attendant is making my dish I notice she is putting some light coloured meat in. I stop her and ask if that is the Bulgogi meat and she assures me it is. Once I get to the cash, the gentleman rings up BBQ Pork. So I ask him if that is pork. He looks at it and says, absolutely. I say to him I specifically asked for beef. The two older employees jump to make me happy, offering to make me another one immediately. I decline and say that the pork will be fine. The older woman quickly made a plate with Bulgogi Beef and said "take, you can try both!". So they messed up a little bit but were quick to fix it. So no harm done. Main complaint: the purple rice was under cooked and cracked in your teeth as you chew. I'm pretty sure that's not the way it's supposed to be. I have to say the food quality and sauce flavour is just average, my daughter (whose favourite food is poke bowl) and I came to try it but nothing really impressed us. We have tried a lot of poke bowl while we travel, this one is just an average from our experience. read more

Koha Pacific Kitchen is newly opened at the square one mall. I went with the beef bulgogi bao, the spicy pork bao, and the Korean bbq chicken as I felt I would get the most authentic tastes of Korea that way. The baos were all fresh, flavourful and worth the price paid . My recommendation is the Spicy Pork bao due to the tenderness and flavour of the pork . read more

I tried their samon and tuna Poke bowl. It was terrible! The portion of fish in the bowl was so small. Worst off all the fish was not fresh. As a person who eats sashimi a lot, the colour of the tuna was almost grey and the salmon was hardly even pink/orange. Also the taste was very fishy (If fish is fresh it shouldn't have a smelly/fishy taste). Lastly, the rice was way undercooked, it was crunchy and dry. I have had my fair share of poke bowls and this place by far has been the worst. I was actually frightened that I might have gotten food poisoning. Thankfully, I was fine. We live in Toronto and went to Square One last Saturday. We noticed Koha Pacific in Square One and we decided to try it. We just loved the food, one of my daughters loved the pineaple mixed with the purple rice. We found it very tasty and lots of selection for a healthy meal. The service was great. I like the bowl concept they have here, the food is delicious and healthy, colourful to your eyes and fresh to your mouth. I had the korean bowl with purple rice, bbq chicken, purple slaw (I really like this) adamame and pineapple, added cilantro, jalapeños and cilantro sauce, I loved the fusion of flavours! We also tried the tofu and was amazing, I'm not a fan of tofu but that was good, crispy. The staff is fast, friendly and attentive when I was asking for the options. I also liked that the place was very clean. I would definitely recommend this place. We'll be back soon.. read more
