Really cool concept of a coffee shop, nice ambiance, love the support of local artists... terrible coffee. I strongly recommend that the baristas be trained on the importance of grind, temperature, and milk-to-shot ratio. Every time I take a chance on getting a latte here (hot or iced) it tastes like dirty water, and I inevitably throw it out after barely making a dent in it. read more

I am a long time customer and I go there quite frequently. I like to patronize them instead of going to the commercial coffee shops. I raved about their banana cream pie latte for the first three times I ordered it .I thought it was the best latte ever until suddenly last week when I ordered it I could tell right away on my first sip that it did not have espresso in it ! It had old Burt coffee in the place of the espresso! I can tell right away because I am an espresso connoisseur and former barista. This was extremely disappointing. For the price of a latte I deserve real espresso. Now After talking to my friend who also frequently goes there she told me that the same exact thing happened to her ! She was served old coffee in place of her espresso in a latte as well. She is also a former barista and knew right away . Very disappointed. Any place that lets me walk in, order non menu stuff and then play their funky striped outta tune piano is gonna get some love. They painted the wall in local arts and crafts, their coffee is tip top, and the choice of places to park your hind quarters is of excellent variety. I recently checked out their outdoor garage/fireplace/ area during the week long mid march heat spell and it made for a very satisfying afternoon. ATM is on site in case you're of the plastic generation.Every shot puller here is friendly and funny and willing to play around with the menu, should you ask. Good deal if you ask me. read more

We stopped in while taking a short walk around the town before our hour long trip back home! One thing I want to mention is that the place is cash only! There is a ATM if you need one. I didn't know even after glancing at this place on yelp prior to our trip! Luckily, I had some cash on me from my frequent lottery ticket purchases. The place definitely has character and it really cute, a good hang out spot for locals. I got a mocha, hot because man it was quite freezing out there today! It was pretty good, not overly bitter or sweet. There was all sorts of local products and art to buy on the walls that we looked at while waiting for a short time for the cup to be prepared. Next time we are in town, we will surely stop in for coffee and a milkshake (he doesn't like coffee) and maybe I'll challenge him to a game of chess, he will beat me for sure but it would be fun! read more

I really enjoy Koffee Kat. I love going to coffee shops and coffee house, not only for the hot delicious beverages, but also for the atmosphere. I start right off by saying yet again that I'm not a coffee drinker and stick to hot chocolates and steamed milk. So look to others for reviews on their coffee. I do absolutely love the hot chocolate and steamed milk! I usually order a French vanilla hot chocolate because it's my favorite. At Koffee Kat there is a few different ways to go about this particular drink. If I decide on actual hot chocolate I have a choice of hot chocolate made with white chocolate or regular chocolate. From there vanilla syrup is added to make it a French vanilla. Lastly (but not always) the server adds whipped cream if desired and a chocolate covered espresso bean (white or regular). The end result is a wonderful drink that's bliss. The other way they go about making my favorite drink is by using steamed milk instead of hot chocolate. So this way it's made with steamed milk, vanilla syrup, and if desired, whipped cream, and a chocolate covered espresso bean. This way is also very tasty. One of these drinks is sweeter than the other, but I unfortunately don't remember which. In addition to the superb drinks, the shop also offers the usual coffee shop eats: cheesecake, scones, muffins, biscotti, croissants, etc. I think they may also offer sandwiches as well. Aside from the food and drink the Koffee Kat has a most comfortable atmosphere. The shop is styled with a contemporary funky look involving lots of yellow and purple and several funky lights. Several small round tables with chairs are scattered throughout the shop and a coffee table and big couch is in the back past the counter. Also, there is a patio at the back of the shop. There is some local art displayed on the walls that is also for sale. Finally, Koffee Kat also offers entertainment. To the right of the counter there is a chalkboard with dates when local bands are going to play in the shop. I've been there during one such event and it was very enjoyable. The music wasn't even what I usually listen to, but added greatly to the overall coffee house experience. In addition to the bands playing there, the shop also offers wireless internet access. Unfortunately it's not free wi-fi. I've used it before and the signal quality is fine and it doesn't cost too much. In the end I highly recommend Koffee Kat to anyone that wants a great beverage, to just relax, or who is seeking some evening entertainment. I would even suggest this place for a date. This is the go-to cute and kitchy coffee place DT. They ONLY ACCEPT CASH, so be prepared to pop to the ATM next door if needed. Here you will find free wifi, a hipster, casual and relaxing atmosphere (where you won't be bothered if you nurse a coffee for 4 hours), and good coffee. Koffee Kat is super fun in that they are all about supporting local artistry. They feature local artists work in the cafe (jewelry, paintings,bags,etc) for sale, and also host local bands on the weekends. The food and coffee are well made and vegan, lactose intolerant and picky customer friendly. The staff is really sweet and easy going. I ask a lot of questions and have peculiar requests when ordering, and they are consistently accommodating. This is a great place to go to meet people, study or relax. The interior features bright and fun cats on the wall; with ample seating in the cafe, and a back patio area. You can feel good about supporting a local business, and enjoying yourself simultaneously. read more

The kind where the barista is sitting at the bar reading when he's not waiting on anyone, where you can sit and talk with someone and not be constantly straining to hear them, one that isn't a cookie cutter duplicate or a chain, but at the same time, isn't overly pretentious in the quest to be unique. The cold brew was good, and that's the extent of my food/beverage review. One star off for not taking plastic - I understand (for reasons I don't understand) that it's part of being "indie" or what not. Went to Plattsburgh on a day off from work. It is such a cool place! It reminds me of the cool little coffee houses in downtown San Francisco...the walls are painted in bright colors, it has bright decorations, cool paintings, etc. It's a fun atmosphere. I don't know how good the coffee is, but I had a strawberries and cream frozen thing and it was good. They don't accept credit cards. Sad. read more

Great coffee -- I go for the cafe au lait almost every time. They steam the milk and let you add your own java from the daily selections. The decor is funky and fun. Lots of art work all over the place. This is a great place to hang out and chat with an old friend for hours. Free wi-fi! They could, however, do a little better job of keeping things cleaner. This is a cute coffee house that I did not expect to find in Plattsburgh. Their concoctions are pretty inventive and inexpensive. I had a chai latte and their espresso beans are above average for making a capp at home. I was pleasantly surprised to find this in Plattsburgh. It's a friendly, colorful coffeehouse with cool seats, sidewalk tables and a fabulous little patio. I had a delicious French soda, while my mother had a cappucino and my brother had some vegan cookies. The selection of scones and drinks looked delightful and service was friendly. They also sell local art and have live music some nights. If I lived in town, I'd definitely be here all the time. read more

They spelled Cat wrong! Agh!! Yikes, what a blunder! I've been emailing and writing the owner for weeks trying to alert him to the mistake with no prevail. I feel so bad, and think the spelling error (Kat-Cat) should be fixed immediately. I'm highly allergic to both cats and most coffee products so I have never entered this establishment. But by the looks of it from across the street, I believe the place could hold anywhere from 30-60 overweight customers at any given time! Love this place! Coffee is expensive and sour. Service is terrible. Starbucks is for once cheaper, and better. You'll be expected to pay full price, even if you bring your own mug. On the bright side, the shop itself is nice to sit in, and typically has a pleasant vibe. If you're going to play Scrabble with a friend, bring your own coffee. Quirky atmosphere, friendly staff, good coffee, faster wifi that I have at home, next door to the best used book store ever. I've spent some time there, and the only downside is that the if you see the male baristas leaving and the older female one taking over, prepare yourself for the eclectic background music collection to be fully replaced by twangy country music videos played at an unignorable volume that will make getting work done or having a conversation impossible without going to the outside tables. Koffee Kat is an excellent little place to have a nice coffee, a smoothie and chill with a good book, play chess or just chat up good friends or make new ones. The staff is very friendly and the paint colors of the shop are very warm and inviting. They have this really cool alcove type spot out back which must be really cool to just sit in and sip your drink in the hot months...we sat out there yesterday...a little chilly but that's okay. We also had this excellent carrot cake...we stayed until the evening and they had live music with open mic poetry. They get a crowd for these nights of 20 something's. When I go back to Platsburgh I am definitely stopping here. read more
