Excellent service from the moment we walked in! We visited during the week, and the space was clean, spacious, and had such a warm, inviting feel--perfect for a relaxed, midweek unwind. It wasn't overly busy, which made the experience even better. We ordered a charcuterie board to pair with our wine flight, and it was the perfect complement. As someone who loves crisp, refreshing white wines, I was really impressed with the selection. We ended up joining their 2-bottle membership, which felt like a great value. We were looking for a nice winery to visit while visiting Idaho. Our nephew recommended Koenig. The grounds and buildings are beautiful and inviting. The day was nice so we sat outside. The wine flights were amazing. We both had different reds in our flights. The Lanae Cabernet was my favorite. My husband thought the Cabernet-Syrah was his favorite. Tami was the lady working the bar area. We decided to stay and have the charcuterie board with a glass of wine before heading back to Boise. The board was very well appointed and delicious. Great location and plenty of parking on the dirt and then cement parking for handicap. We arrived at a Saturday noon for a reservations.l and decided to do a tasting. The older lady in black was a bit snarky but the rest of the staff were really nice. The views are amazing and there is a lot of seating in the sun. Wish there were more shade structures. It would be nicer if there were less loud children running around. Or bring well behaved ones. I'm ok with that. Ha ha We brought our own charcuterie with ice packs and borrowed one of their fly fans. Wished I brought a big brimmed hat for the sun. read more

You could tell this was more of a commercial winery but a smaller owned mom and pop. It was more upscale than some of the other wineries in the area and you felt that from staff and some of the other people there. Staff was very overwhelmed and was annoyed we didn't have a reservation but there was plenty of room outside, which is where we chose to sit. Outside was absolutely beautiful with stunning views. We accidentally stopped here trying to find our way to the distillery and were abruptly turned around upon entering. The building and tasting room looked amazing. We came back later for a tasting and to buy a bottle to bring home for a gift. There is a definite and obvious bias toward non-members, who are relegated to less comfortable seating. The server seemed annoyed by our presence, but helped us out of obligation. I found it odd that a tasting was served in a single wine glass that was refilled with each subsequent pour. What a great experience. Definitely two taste buds up from us. We were out for a drive and thought we'd see if we could find it. Admittedly, we didn't find it a couple of years ago when we tried - we didn't try that hard. This time, a little cell phone navigation took us right there and we're glad it dod. The good. The spirits, for sure! We each selected different liquors so we had six different flavors to sample. We found a couple that we loved and a couple that were definitely outside of our palates. The view. It's definitely winter, so the orchard was bare, but I can only imagine how beautiful it is in the spring, summer and fall. The atmosphere - this particular days was lightly traveled. A couple was leaving when we arrived, so we had the tasting room to ourselves for a short while. Being able to sit in a couple of comfy chairs and taste, and discuss...and taste and discuss was quite the joy. I was excited to try ice wine and this seemed to be the only place that made it. We walked in with no reservation but were greeted and served right away. Bree was not only incredibly knowledgeable but kind and entertaining too! We felt like we had made a fast friend while conversing with Bree. We listened to all of her recommendations and were not disappointed. The grounds were beautiful and the wine was excellent, if we lived here we would definitely become members. Good reds but the pours they were serving needed to age a bit longer. This winery felt very much like a Napa Valley estate, beautiful patio with amazing view of the snake River/treasure valley. Pleasant tasting room. Reasonably priced tastings, waived if purchasing a bottle. Wines were overpriced for quality like most in this region. My recommendation is to have a pleasant afternoon touring the local wineries and don't feel obligated to buy the slightly overpriced bottles, just enjoy tasting different wine from the region. read more

TRY ST. CHAPPELLE INSTEAD. I called Koenig in advance to set reservations and told them it was a special occasion for my wife's birthday. I asked if they could set aside a table for two - one they use to celebrate such events. "We don't really do that here," the woman said on the other end. "But yeah, we can get you a table." I told her I'd pay extra if they could set it up for a birthday - just do something to make it memorable. Something festive outdoors. "No, we don't do that here, like I said. But we'll get you a table on the patio." Underwhelmed but satisfied, I agreed and set reservations. The day of, my wife and I were running late and I called to see if they could hold our spot until an hour later. "No," she said. "You lost your table as a no-show. But if you show up, we can probably still get you one." We showed up. The place was very busy, nearly every table taken, but there was one they led us to in the back. It was right next to the bathroom. A tiny round two top, and the chairs they use back there feel a bit unstable. It's not terribly comfortable. The server was very distracted and took our order. No mention of the special occasion I had pointed out. The wine was passable but underwhelming. The place was loud, lots of people on phone conversations. The atmosphere is not at all the fault of the servers, of course, but Koenig has a very "corporate" vibe to it. Large indoor space with heavy acoustics, dozens of tables. Very loud. We left after the first wine in our flight. Decided to go to St. Chappelle... As I drove away from Koenig, I couldn't help but notice a couple of kids at the top of this beautiful tower with a view over the whole area. If you google Koenig you'll see the two story tower immediately near the stairs. It appeared to have a table up top. "Why wouldn't they use that for a birthday?" I thought. "I told them I would pay extra. They could have set that up for my wife and I." They had told me instead that everything on the patio is "first-come, first-served." Look, I get it. Koenig has enough business, they can afford such a policy. But it certainly came off as impersonal. We went to St. Chapelle instead...and wow! What a difference. ST.CHAPELLE IS SUPERIOR IN EVERY CONCEIVABLE WAY. Check this out... They didn't know we were coming. We were walk-ins, it was 3pm and slammed. But everyone on staff was immediately friendly and engaging. I saw an empty two-top on the patio, with a beautiful view overlooking the entire valley. I asked if we could have it. Bryan, one of the friendliest, coolest guy I've met while wine tasting, says, "Don't worry. I'll hook ya up." He said the table had a 3pm reservation, but if they didn't show it was ours. We sat down, had two magnificent wine flights, one bubbly one fruity, and a great appetizer tray. At 3:20, Bryan told a server they had waited long enough for the no-show reservation and he had us escorted outside. There we were served to perfection and they asked if it was a special occasion. "Yes," I said. "It's my wife's birthday." They brought out a beautifully decorated cheesecake tray. Despite being just as busy as Koenig, everyone at St. Chapelle engages with you, treats you like a person, makes you feel wanted and welcome and as if you are family visiting from out of state. Bryan and Sabrina are especially charming. So...moral of the story. Koenig isn't lousy. They just came off as dismissive. I understand why. They are more well known and can afford to lose repeat business...which they did in my case. But I will definitely be going back to St. Chapelle's, and I highly recommend them for special occasions! The wine is just not my style. I prefer dryer offerings, where allot of their wine is on the sweater side. It's also very expensive. The faculty itself is really beautiful and worth a try! Loved this spot yesterday. Lisa helped us and our service was overall amazing especially considering we didn't have reservations. Service can be hit or miss most places on weekends but we were greeted and helped right away, sat immediately, and Lisa took great care of us. The wine was good, I preferred the reds and we got a grazing plate along with our tasting. Will definitely be back and consider the wine club next time we visit. read more

I wanted to visit Koenig Vineyards while in Idaho because they also have a distillery that produces Whiskey, Vodka, and Brandy. When I arrived I was impressed with the grounds and tasting room, however slightly disappointed that due to Idaho State law you cannot taste the Whiskey or Vodka. I decided to buy some to try later. I bought their Seven Devil's Bourbon Whiskey, and a bottle of thier Peach Vodka. While one's opinion of flavor and taste is highly subjective I found thier Bourbon flavorful, smooth, with just enough bite. I haven't tried the vodka yet, but will soon. Their wine tasting room doesn't charge, and allows you to taste up to five of thier wines. Unfortunately the lady handling tasting was more interested in talking to a trainee about his weekend and what his mother was up to than us tasting wine. I did manage to taste a Cabernet, and a Riesling Ice wine, both were good but due to the lack of service we gave up tasting here and declined to purchase any wines here. Overall the facility impresses, the Bourbon, and wine I was able to try were very good. 5 stars for the facility, Bourbon, and wine. The staff didn't do the place or thier products justice during my visit. read more

We finally made it out to Koenig Vineyards after years of drinking their wine. Their facility is INCREDIBLE with gorgeous views, a nice fountain, outdoor large yard chess, and a tower with seating hat overlooks the vineyards. They do not charge for wine tasting but ask that you keep it to 5 tastings per person. The entire menu is available for tasting and there was not a single wine that I didn't enjoy which is rare for me. The staff was extremely knowledgeable and very friendly. On our next visit we will be joining the wine club so that we can purchase NV Two Barrel Reserve Port (pairs VERY well with dark chocolate) and the 2016 Dry Rosé. And although they do not serve food they had samples of delicious cheeses. Our friends that are new Idaho residents got the opportunity to purchase some of the Koenig Huckleberry Vodka and the Pear Brandy. Unfortunately they do not do tastings of the liquor but regardless they were a hit. read more

I wish I could take credit for finding this place on my own, but I can't. We were brought here by some friends who are wine club members. We owe them big for this one. If the name Koenig sounds familiar it's because they are involved with most of the winemaking in the area. And you thought State Farm was a good neighbor...The area is remote, but well worth the drive for fantastic wine and award-winning vodka. Be sure to check out the shiny distillery equipment when you enter. Then ascend the stairs into a small, simple tasting room with a spectacular view. We love their cabs and syrahs and especially the cab syrah blend. They also have a tasty viognier and an ice wine that is surprisingly good and not overly sweet. I don't know why we even pretend to set a bottle limit of what we will let ourselves buy when we come here because we always end up with something we didn't plan on. If I lived around here I would definitely be a wine club member. If the wine prices weren't already reasonable enough, the wine club discount is so good it feels like stealing. Just remember kids: stealing is bad and you'll probably get caught. Snagging sweet deals on wine is just smart shopping. Drink up. read more

I was at Koenig about four years ago when they were in their old building. There are so many things I love about Koenig, diet the new facility is stunning inside and out. There is a fun lawn size chess set outside. They have a nice overlook, you can climb the stairs sit and drink one of their lovely wines. Inside is beautiful, with. Frank Lloyd Wright vibe, but no pretense. A wine tasting is made or broken by the person pouring and today we had the best experience with a lady, I wish I remembered her name, that was nice, knew everything about their wines, and was just super personable and fun. Obviously the other thing to love is their wine. I am not a Chardonnay fan because most of the time I feel like the oak is overdone. When you over do oak it gives a strong vanilla flavor, vanilla is not a flavor you typically relate to wine. Anyway, the Chardonnay here is perfect, definite oak but not like a giant vanilla bomb was dropped on you. I have family in Boise so I will definitely come back and I cannot recommend enough if you want a great wine tasting experience. read more

First of all. The wines and spirits are amazing here. I'm a wine club member and quality is not the issue here. What is the issue is that even though the staff is all wearing masks and practicing social distancing, they absolutely do not seem to have or enforce a mask and social distancing policy for customers!! It is expected that if you are seated, at a table to have your wine tasting, you don't need a mask. But we observed most of the customers walking around the tasting room, not wearing masks and walking very close to customers who were seated. We moved tables to avoid being near people browsing the shelves near our table, who were not masked. When we moved, others walked by our table to go to the restroom or were just a couple feet away, talking and not masked. My spouse started having a panic attack due to this, so we cut our tasting short and left. I purchased a couple bottles and as I'm checking out, I brought it to the attention of the person ringing up my sale that we were leaving become they didn't seem to care if people walked around inside without masks. She could only say "sorry" I do not know if Greg Koenig is aware of this or if they just choose not to have a mask policy deliberately. It is not a safe place to be at all. We will NOT be back if they don't take the health and safety of their customers seriously and start enforcing a mask policy when not seated and tasting. If they can't manage a simple measure to keep their customers safe, I'll be canceling my wine club as well. Get serious about health and safety Koenig Vineyards, I'm sure I won't be the only person to find your lack of concern for your customers disturbing. read more
