This is a great winery with a wonderful selection of wines. Really cute, but kind of small, tasting room. There was plenty of covered seating outside. Our server, Nicole, was awesome. She explained our tastings very well based on what we told her we liked. The wines were great! They also produce the Chicken Dinner Road wines, but the Huston wines are so much better and worth the price difference. I will definitely visit again! read more

We really enjoyed our visit to this winery. Our wine guide, Kristen, was extremely knowledgeable about the winery, the AVA and the wines produced by the Alger family who live on site. She was a wealth of information and so personable. The covered outdoor seating was perfect on a hot day. They also graciously accommodated our two small dogs. We enjoyed their wines and bought several bottles to take home. If we lived closer, we would regularly visit this winery. I highly recommend Huston Vineyards and make sure you ask for Kristen. We love this family run winery! The family and staff are amazing and the offer excellent customer service. Five stars for sure! We had the opportunity to attend the barrel tasting event this past weekend. What a great event. It was great to hear directly from the winemaker about the wines and the vision for the winery and future vintages. The barrel room was decorated for Christmas and was very festive and cozy. I was in the area trying to get away from the thick smoke in Boise by myself. I had gone to other wineries in the area and they told me to go here. I got there a bit late in the day. There was no one else there and a staff member was sitting outside. I ordered a glass of the rose and sat under their tent. The glass of wine was good. They had decent music playing. They have bathrooms in another building. However, there is no inside part from what I could see. I had a pleasant chat with the employee when I paid for my glass. I would like to come back and do more of a tasting if back in the area. read more

Well, that was unpleasant! Called ahead after reading online that dogs were welcome, as we are traveling with our dog, and we wanted to confirm that we could bring her. And yes dogs are welcome. We had been to this winery years ago and remember it as such a quaint and beautiful winery with good vibes and good wine. When we arrived we were greeted with 'Oh can you wait, we need to put our dog away. She can be aggressive when she wakes up.' Good to know... you have an aggressive dog you let free roam, yet you welcome others? Either keep yours away or don't welcome others. It is your property, you choose. But then it was the attitude between the servers that added to the awkwardness and really ruined our experience. Out loud their conversation, even gesturing to other guests, was for them to give their dog treats because it was now kenneled and then who would be the hero when they were able to let the dog out when we left. Neither of the servers would even look at us. Our twenty pound dog was leashed and never let out a peep or left our side. We were offered to taste. We requested a glass of red and a glass of white as we liked them on our previous visit. Never were we asked how we were doing or if we had any questions regarding the wines or the winery. Mind you they were not busy. We did enjoy the wine, in fact we bought some. BUT we won't be back. If we want anymore we'll purchase at the market. We enjoy a good glass of wine, which we did, and a nice experience, which we did not. Beautiful opportunity for a nice time ruined by how we were treated. read more

We attended the Mothers Day Brunch at Hustons. The brunch was held in the beautifully manicured yard. The Huston Gruner Veltliner offered was very nice. The food was provided by Open Table Catering and was outstanding. The Huston Rose of Grenache was excellent. The entire event was outstanding! This is one of my favorite Idaho wineries. It's a must stop anytime I'm in the area. Every staff member is friendly, accommodating and knowledgeable about the wines. We stopped here on our way back to CA after enjoying the wine the night before at a restaurant in Donnelly, ID. Very comfortable dog friendly tasting area. Due to COVID we enjoyed our tasting outside. Four pours for $10 fee but waived if you purchase a bottle. Chardonnay is crisp and tasty. Loved every wine, but opted to purchase the reds. A 2018 Malbec and Cab. Looking forward to more releases. read more

We stopped at Huston Vineyards with some of our friends who are wine club members. Both their Chicken Dinner White and Chicken Dinner Red are in my top list of local wines but I have never been to the tasting room. The tasting fee for sampling 5 wines was $5 and they wave the fee with a bottle purchase. Unfortunately the weather was off and on sprinkling so we did not get to enjoy the outside seating and the tasting room is very small with only one bench to sit on. We were able to pick up a couple bags (containing 2 bottles) of my favorite wine and my husband grabbed a bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon that we look forward to enjoying soon. read more

This is such a fun and beautiful vineyard. If you get lucky and go when they are a little slower they spend a lot of one on one time with you describing the wine and it's history. My favorite wine is the refreshing chicken dinner white wine. They have a tasting room with a small gift shop. They also have a very pleasant outside area. Stopped by this cute little vineyard on a Saturday afternoon. The property is small but has a lovely seating area nestled beside a garden and under some big shady trees. Inside a detached barn, the tasting room is intimately lit & nicely decorated with lots of winery merch, swag, and info about the Snake River Valley region. Tasting fee for 5 wines was $5, but the fee is waived if you purchase a bottle of wine. I loved the Chicken Dinner Road white, while my husband preferred the Chicken Dinner Road red. We both bought a bottle and therefore didn't have to pay for either of our tasting fees. Very friendly service by both ladies who helped us. We just moved from Oregon Willamette valley wine region. We've been to our share our wineries all over Oregon and California, so not newbies to good wine. I was excited to try Hutson as they are right down the road from our new home. Not a great experience. We went during their release party at the warehouse down the road (signs directed), beautiful inside and looked like a cool members event on the lawn. The woman who was pouring our flight was very condescending each time around. My husband asked a question and I accidentally cut her off when we both started to talk at the same time and she rudely said "well do YOU want to explain it?!"...uh, sorry? I wanted to crawl under the table. All of the wines tasted really young, we hard to get through any of them. Not so sure why chicken dinner is so popular?? Especially for the tasting prices compared to others. We paid $30 for dissapointment (and embarrassment). We've tried a few other wineries around that were thankfully much better. Sorry Huston, but this was our first and last visit. read more

Huston is one of our favorite wineries in Idaho, about 30 minute drive from Boise. They have an awesome 2016 Malbec that is less than $30. Nice Pepper finish. Customer service above and beyond what I expected! Chicken Dinner Red is a favorite of my cousin who lives in CA and I wanted to purchase a few bottles for her as a wedding gift. Our family's plan to attend the wedding conflicted with our kid's tournament game, so I had to make other arrangements for the delivery of the wine. My time frame for purchase also seem to conflict with hours of normal operation, BUT Mary returned my call, asked what was convenient for me, and met at my time frame. I love Huston Vineyard. I've been a few times on wine tours with a large group of friends. Both times they handled our group flawlessly. They didn't hassle us with paying tasting fee prior to the tastings, they kept track of who bought a bottle and who needed to pay at the end without it seeming like a convoluted mess (there were 20 of us besides their other customers). Another unnamed vineyard down the road handled this very poorly so the contrast was very noticeable. I've seen the owners at various tastings. They are always friendly and keep things moving. Yesterday at the Idaho Wine Run the line for Huston was easily 4 times longer than any other winery because their wine is so fantastic. The Chicken Dinner Red is my fave but the White is also delicious. I'm not a huge white fan but their Chardonnay is really good. Some white fans might not like it as well but my friends and I who love reds find it wonderful. read more

I think I would have enjoyed this winery more if we hadn't come near the end of the day. I felt like the people working there were ready to go and kind of wanted to serve us and get out. The tastings were only $5 for 5, and if you bought a bottle, it waived the tasting fee. However, they only have 5 wines to choose from for the tastings which I didn't love. I prefer to have a little bit of a choice with the tastings. And my mom doesn't like red at all, and there were only two whites, so she only tasted two. The staff was friendly enough and when they closed at 5 pm, they recommended another winery for us to visit that was open until 6 pm. However, we had mentioned another winery we had visited earlier in the day and said how much we liked it, and the girls working there kind of bad-mouthed this other winery which I thought was in poor taste. I know all the wineries must compete with each other to some extent, but I am sure they also support each other and I would have liked to have seen that more from the people working here. read more
