Specialties
At Kodo Couples Therapy, we offer marriage counseling in Marin that gets to the heart of what really matters. Our name, Kodo, means "heartbeat," a reminder that every relationship has a rhythm that can be restored and strengthened with the right support.
We specialize in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), the Gottman Method, and Relational Life Therapy (RLT), using a dynamic and direct approach that blends honesty with deep compassion. Our therapists don’t just nod and listen. We roll up our sleeves with you. We help partners break stuck patterns, communicate with clarity, and reconnect in ways that feel authentic and lasting.
Whether you’re navigating conflict, recovering from betrayal, or just feeling distant, our marriage counseling services are designed to help couples in Marin and Sonoma rebuild trust, intimacy, and emotional safety.
Clients appreciate how engaged we are, how practical the tools feel, and how quickly they start to experience real change. Whether you’re in crisis or simply wanting more from your relationship, we’re here to guide you back to connection.
History
Established in 2025.
Kodo Couples Therapy was born from a simple but powerful belief: relationships are the heartbeat of our lives, and when they suffer, everything feels off rhythm. After years of working closely with couples and witnessing how stuck patterns could shift with the right kind of guidance, our founder created Kodo as a space where couples could find not just hope, but momentum.
The practice began with one therapist who had a background in high-stakes communication and a deep respect for the complexity of intimate relationships. That experience shaped our values: we listen deeply, speak truthfully, and stay engaged.
If you are looking for marriage counseling that goes beyond surface-level advice, we’re here to help you find your way back to each other. Love is too important to leave in crisis—and meaningful change is possible.
Meet the Business Owner: Sheena S.
I'm the founder of Kodo Couples Therapy and a licensed marriage and family therapist with a passion for helping couples reconnect.
Before becoming a therapist, I worked for nearly two decades as a Japanese conference interpreter, an experience that taught me to listen deeply, hold complexity, and translate emotion as much as language. I specialize in marriage counseling that blends structure with warmth, using Relational Life Therapy (RLT), EFT, and the Gottman Method. My approach is active, honest, and compassionate.
I started Kodo to offer couples a space that goes beyond surface-level sessions, where real change can happen. Kodo means “heartbeat” in Japanese, and that’s exactly what I help couples restore. Whether you’re feeling stuck, distant, or on the edge, I’m here to help you find your way back to each other.
