Absolutely love this studio. I did the intro offer at $69 dollars for an unlimited 30 days which is such a great deal. Other studios I have looked at in the area doesn't beat it. Everyone is so kind and welcoming the second you arrive, even the people who attend classes. My go to class is the hot yoga (heated at 95 degrees!)and the vibe of the room is so relaxing (especially with the meditative music they play during it) and the lights add that perfect touch for you to just focus on your movements. I have only attended twice so far and both instructors, Alicjia and Tina, are wonderful. You can just tell they have the knowledge with how things flow. Really awesome spot! The prices reflect the location, but at least it's quality offerings. There's a sauna and cold plunge, with showers in the bathrooms, and a water refill area, with some other goodies for sale. I love the Reiki + Breath class, plus the Cosmic Restore & Meditation. They do have all the items you would need for class, should you forget your own. I don't love hot classes (ex: hot yoga), but they do offer a lot of those! About two months ago, I was dealing with severe neck pain due to an inflamed nerve. I could barely move my neck and was in a lot of physical pain. A good friend recommended Maxx to me, and I decided to give it a try. My session lasted around an hour and a half, maybe two hours I honestly don't even remember exactly because the experience was so much deeper than I expected. From the very first moment I stepped into his room and he started talking to me, I was already in tears. At one point, he asked me to look at myself in the mirror, and I began crying even more. I knew in that moment that I wasn't crying because of physical pain I was crying because of emotional and spiritual pain I had been carrying inside of me. That day, which wasn't planned to be anything more than a massage appointment, turned into something truly life-changing. Max helped me release so many things I had been holding inside traumas, past wounds, emotions I didn't even realize were still there. He helped me reconnect with and care for my inner child. Not only was the massage itself incredibly effective and relieving, but the conversation felt like a deep therapy session. I normally do not cry in front of strangers, but I cried so much and I left feeling lighter, relieved, and renewed. Since that session, I've noticed a huge difference in my life. My anxiety is no longer overwhelming. I handle stress differently. I've become more conscious about taking care of my body so that life's challenges whether from the past or present, work stress or exhaustion don't manifest physically the way they used to. That awareness was one of the greatest pieces of advice he gave me. I will definitely be going back. His work is worth more than five stars. Thank you, Max, for being such a light in this world. First timer at this studio and tried a yoga and south bath class. The location was kinda weird like on the side of a strip mall but you can park anywhere including spaces directly in front of the studio. Upon arrival I was greeted with a smile and had to check in on the tablet which was easy and sign a waiver. The instructor was at the front desk and walked me to the classroom when I was done. There were little open cubbies to leave your shoes and keys at. The yoga studio room was quite large and was dimly lit with ambient lighting and a neon sign. There were supplies for everyone including yoga mats, blocks, pillows and blankets. The instructor had such a soothing voice and explained every move in detail. I had never experienced a sound bath before so that was quite unique! Overall I had a great experience and would definitely return. read more

I moved to Tampa not too long ago from SLC, UT and have wholeheartedly missed my studio there (s/o Salt Lake Power Yoga). I tried Kodawari last night, specifically their hot power class and felt pretty good leaving. I enjoyed the class however the yoga i was used to in the past was a bit more intense and fast paced than their hot power class offered. I enjoy the almost cardio aspect of power yoga and didn't feel I truly was able to push myself in this class. The over all practice was enjoyable and I can see how a beginner would enjoy the slower pace, my expectations were a little different. I can't rave about this place enough and I've only been once! The lobby are is stunning with lots of fun yoga and wellness merchandise. Of course it's all for purchase, but they have a ton of testers! They also have water to purchase and snacks if you forget yours. The facility was rather big and I didn't anticipate it upon walking in. They have nice big and clean dressing/bathrooms. I consider myself a yogi and frequent class 2-3x/week. I just moved to Tampa and had heard good things about this place. They have other modalities besides yoga, but I specifically went to try their community yoga class on Monday night. Tatiana was a fun, light and kind yoga teacher! I loved her playlist which appeared to flow well with the class. She gave modifications for flow or stillness. I used to be quite the yogi! Being a surfer when I was younger I found that yoga really helped with my balance and focus. (also, being a surfer in Hawaii/Southern California it's almost a requirement to do yoga as well haha) Once I joined the military, my practice kind of disappeared. Then I had kids and whew, here I am almost 20 years later having not been on a mat in all that time. I was SCARED. I was SO NERVOUS to get back in the studio. I was sure that people were going to judge me. It's very rare that I don't have the words to describe something. Kodawari leaves me in awe. The best way to describe this studio? The Vibes are Immaculate. I have tried other studios in the Tampa area and I'm left wanting. Kodawari delivers on ALL fronts. I haven't felt pressured to go farther than my body is able. I leave humbled but calm. I'm being reminded through my practice that there is no "perfect" and what you do today is perfect in its own right. I took a Reiki yoga class for the first time (I had done Reiki before, but never paired with yoga) and I sobbed like a BABY. I felt so rejuvenated afterward. Shiran is an actual angel sent here to help me open my sacral chakra (the one I really struggle with EVERY time!). If Yoga isn't your thing, Kodawari STILL will have something that speaks to you. There's acupuncture, Nordic Sauna, chiropractic, bodywork, breathwork, float therapy, and on and on! The only "problem" for me is that I can't do EVERYTHING at once! read more

I have always been into physical fitness, yet have never been as interested in the practice of yoga. At the encouragement of my doctor, I finally decided to give it a chance. A friend turned me onto this place. Feeling a bit intimidated at first, as I have little flexibility, the staff put me at ease. From the moment I walked in I felt comfortable and welcome. I leave after each class so relaxed. I feel like I have had a massage after many classes. My mind is cleared and I am ready to focus on the day in a new energized way. This has been a worth while addition to my fitness routine. I now can't imagine not incorporating a class into my schedule. The classes challenge my body in a different way than a run, spin class or weight class. The yoga classes broaden my mind and physically strengthen my body while increasing my flexibility. Annette has a great studio that offers a variety of classes through out the day. You are sure to find one that suits you. In addition, the studio offers different workshops, events, massage and float therapy. The studio also has a small cafe that I have heard great things about. Years later from my previous review, this studio is still the best in the Bay area. Last year, I cancelled my membership as I wanted to try different workouts. During that time (about a 6 month span) my body, mind, and soul were craving Yoga. During COVID, I cancelled my membership and recently re-joined again. I can safely say, I've never felt better. Not only do I think my body looks better, but I sleep well, my mind is clear, and focused during work. Still to this day, I can say I've never had a bad class here. If I could give this studio 0 stars, I would. I initially loved this studio, the teachers, the atmosphere. After attending the studio almost everyday for several months, I decided to sign up for their teacher training program to deepen my practice, and maybe become a teacher one day. Yoga Alliance (YA) is the only accrediting body of yoga schools in the USA. The studio offers a 200 hr certification training, and they are registered with Yoga Alliance. Before signing up, I thoroughly read through these standards set by YA to understand the integrity, ethics, and foundations of the program. After participating in the program for a couple months, I noticed that there seemed to be some cut corners. I contacted YA directly, and asked questions about some of the issues I found, and they took my information and assured me they would be reaching out to Kodawari about the matter. Other students and I also brought our findings and concerns to the studio owner, and her responses were combative and defensive. Here is a list of some the feedback we gave, as well as some examples of discrepancies we found: - Lead teachers must have 50 hours of instruction with students (per YA standards). One lead teacher (who was advertised as a "lead teacher"), would not have event met half of that requirement per her schedule. - The 2 teachers who were often in charge of our practice teaching sessions were not advertised as being apart our program. Both had been teaching for less than a year. Myself and others in the program felt that their feedback was not beneficial; as they did not appear to have the experience necessary to teach teacher trainees. I (and several other cohorts) did not experience any lead teacher giving feedback during practice teach sessions, because the group was so large we had to be separated into other rooms; one being a public gym next door to the studio. The other lead teacher told me she was not included in these sessions because the owner did not want to pay her lead teacher salary for this portion of the program, so that is why we had new grads supervise this piece. - Until we brought these concerns to the owner, all of our classes (with the exception of 2) were with the public. Only our lectures to this point were private. We paid thousands of dollars for focused and private instruction, not for classes that anybody in the public could attend. This structure made it seem that the studio did not have enough space to accommodate the trainees. After many back and forth emails between the owner and several students trying to rectify the situation, 4 of us ended up withdrawing from the program; as well as one of the lead teachers, Mallory, who was completely unaware of the issues we discovered, and was shocked to find out how the program was facilitated in her absence. I am not sure if/how the program was rectified after I left, as I departed in February and sessions were going until April. However, from the schedule we received in the beginning of the program, some of the hourly requirements would not have been met, regardless of a program restructure. At the same time of my departure, several long time teachers and students also left the studio for many reasons, including (but not limited to) lack of ethics, and sheer unprofessionalism. If you are looking for a great studio in Tampa, I would 100% recommended Camp Tampa off MacDill. They have the BEST heat in Tampa if you're a hot yoga lover. Not only do they offer yoga, but cycle, circuit, HIT, and much more! Definitely check Camp out! They have amazing customer service and really do care about their patrons. You can really tell ethics is their top priority. I mean, we are talking yoga here- and ethics should ALWAYS be the top priority. Bottom line: My experience at this studio was a NIGHTMARE. Yoga is not just about the physical practice, but also a way of life. Practitioners are taught Yamas, or, a way of living. These ethical rules include truthfulness, non-stealing, non-possessiveness, compassion, non-hypocrisy, as well as other ethical practices to live by. Unfortunately, I did not experience some of these yogic ethical practices from this studio. BEWARE of this place- the owner just wants your MONEY. *UPDATE: After my initial Yelp review, the owner Annette contacted me via Yelp message and attempted to call me twice. She left a voicemail and Yelp message threatening to seek legal action if I did not amend my review.....I think this action really just says it all, as actions speak louder than words. I have a right to review my honest experience on this platform with businesses I have supported. I hope my review can help people make a decision as to whether or not you should give your money and time into this business. As an avid yogi who has practiced all over Tampa Bay, I would recommend seeking your yoga experience and teacher training classes elsewhere. Good luck! read more

I've practiced yoga for a many years and have actually been to this studio a few times, but unfortunately this review needed to be posted. Although many members are happy with this studio, I actually had to leave the class before it was over. Having explored the practice of yoga, breathe, meditation, and all the healing attributes that have drawn me to yoga, I experienced nothing of the sort in the class I attended. To say that the owner/instructor used the word FU$& more than 30+ times in her class, is not an understatement. She literally dumped all her bad energy and anger into her practice. Yoga is transforming, peaceful, healing, and a true spiritual practice. I'm not sure where the lines got blurred to a point that this is even allowed in a class, let alone by the owner. I even tried to "work through" what I was feeling, thinking it was a lesson I could learn from today's practice. However, every time I calmed myself and got back into flow, the word A$$, FU$&, and other negative words were yelled out by the instructor. This energy is the exact OPPOSITE of everything that yoga is meant to teach someone. I offer healing to the owner, because it's obvious she has much more to work through in her own practice and heart, but as a member, this is not the energy that should be dumped on ANYONE, specifically someone going to a yoga class. There is a HUGE disconnect to what is being taught in this class as to what a person should experience during their practice. I never write reviews but this was beyond what should be considered "yoga." The instructor could have gotten her message across beautifully in a way through light and love, rather than so much suppressed anger and pain. Please work through this before you continue to pass this energy to another member. We go to class to heal our bodies. We go to class to clam our minds. We go to class to clear out the noise, not to have the instructor consistently cussing. This is the number one indication of anger and suppressed pain. We are not there to take an emotional beat down from someone who obviously hasn't fully dealt with some major internal scars, and who chooses the bottom of the barrel of communication to get through to her students. I coach women on wellness and self love, so please take this into consideration, as to how bad this experience was that I had to leave class, write a review, and also spend an hour in nature to release all the negative energy that was just spewed out by the owner. I literally felt suffocated when I left. NOT how I ever feel when I leave 4 of the classes I practice each week at other studios. This is NOT how yoga is supposed to be practiced. read more

Kodawari is peace to me. I have been a floater there for 2.5 years and the regular practice is transformative. I am a type A personality with a mind that is always running. I'm a working mom with a demanding schedule and lots of people that hold me accountable. The float pod is my escape. Everything about it means serenity, harmony, and tranquility to me. My words fail to describe how beautiful and important the experience is to your whole being. You can YouTube and google what a float pod experience is and you can figure out the logistics. It is not until you do it a couple times with an open mind that you can understand the change that is available to you. I recommend floating to anyone. When I first joined, there was a new member special where you could do unlimited yoga for a month. I made it a point to go every single day for a month so that I could try all the classes. My favorite instructor is Annette Scott. Her voice is deep, rich, calm and strong. You know you are in good hands with her. She adjusts you and teaches you. The Slow Flow with Yoga Nidra calmed a lot of turmoil in me. The Breathing Meditation class with Beth Hardin can also change you. I had never heard of breathing meditation before but that class brought me to tears more than once with the emotions and release that you feel. You feel cleansed after leaving that class. Suzanne Aranoff cares about her students. She is warm and helpful and kind. Her classes and her practice are beautiful. Reiki & Massage with Justin Rockett is exceptional. He listens and understands you. He grounds you and does his best to heal you. Every time I see him at the studio I feel uplifted by his sincerity and generosity of spirit. In town to visit family and was recommended this place as my yoga away from home. Convenient location, 5 minutes from my Airbnb so I gave it a try and so glad I did! Nice parking lot with ample parking. Staff greeted me right away. Cute lobby with things to buy me drinks. I told them I was in town on vacation and they offered a visiting yogi pass, 7 days for $35!!! That is a great deal anywhere. The instructor made a point of introducing herself and welcomed me. Plenty is space to put shoes and belongings. The restrooms had showers and were clean. I went back today for a second class and again the instructor (a different person) made a point of introducing herself and made me feel welcomed. Both classes were fantastic! I learned new poses and enjoyed a great workout. I look forward to finishing my week there! read more

I got introduced to Kodawari Studios when my yoga instructor, Melissa, started teaching there. As I stepped my foot in to that facility, I immediately felt an energy that was so inviting and calm. My very first experience was so wonderful and still is few years later. I used to live close by, so it was convenient to keep up with all the classes. Despite I live an hour away, I still make an effort to take a class when I am in the area. They have so much to offer beside all the amazing classes with all the amazing teachers including Annette who is the owner: chiropractic treatment, massages, float pod, cafeteria, healthy snacks, shopping for cute items, showers, storage. I have tried many yoga studios when traveling away from home and no other place comes close to recreating what Annette Scott brings to the matt in her teaching. I've been practicing yoga for about 4 years and a few months ago was making a move - within Tampa. I had loved my previous yoga studio (should write them a review, too! I never did!) and was a bit anxious, if I'd find another soulful place. A yoga instructor from the previous studio mentioned Kodawari.. and from the first time I came here, I FELL in LOVE with it!!!! I never went anywhere else to "check it out" and compare. This was IT!!!! For me yoga is an all-encompassing practice - for body, mind and soul. I love the community aspect of yoga studios (hence I am not a person doing yoga in the gym). Annette, the owner, is awesome, welcoming... Most of the instructors are. Marley and Annette are my favorite however. There are TONS of classes on the schedule and it's easy to find a class you'd like at any time of the day! (which actually is even better in my previous studio)! I highly recommend it. I thought I'd be driving back to my studio because I LOVED it so much... but energy, space, people and spirit are amazing at Kodawari. HIGHLY HIGHLY recommended! I dropped in today for Marley's hot power flow class & had such a wonderful experience! I was in the area visiting family after running a 10k & half marathon in Orlando, and my body desperately needed a hot yoga class. The girl at the front desk (I wish I could remember her name) helped me sign up/in, gave me the waiver to fill out, and even gave me a complimentary towel/mat rental! (I can expense classes for work, but retail/mat rental/food purchases at studios are not covered, and she wasn't sure if it would give the breakdown on the receipt.) She also gave me a full tour of the studio, bringing me right to the studio class was in, and also explained their other services, their traveling yogi class offering, introduced me to Trent at the food bar on the way -- I felt so welcome at Kodawari! Marley's class was a wonderful flow. Not quite as challenging as some classes I've taken, but also not easy! I'm hoping to make it back to the studio before my flight back to NYC, but if not, I'll have my second class waiting for me the next time I come visit family in the area! My mom and I love love love Kodawari! It's such a great, cozy place with amazing people! Annette the owner is fabulous and teaches a kickass hot (105 F) class. We love to do the Buti yoga on Saturdays with Cole. It's such a fun class to move in!! There are always new things Annette is introducing and recently redid the studio, which looks AMAZING! And they always sell cool, interesting, and healthy things. Kodawari has really gotten me into yoga and it's practice. It always makes me feel great and loosens my body up and relaxes my mind. I love the variety of classes they have: if you feel like meditating and breathing there are always classes for that, yoga sculpt with weights, buti yoga if you feel like shaking, hot yoga if you want the burn and challenge, vinyasa if you want a lighter but moving flow, etc. We have been at Kodawari for at least 3 years and couldn't be happier! read more
