The sushi pizza was so memorable that I came back to have it yet again. I've been eating sushi for 40 years and the Christmas roll is one of the best rolls I've ever had! It's a combination of the exterior of the roll, the interior, and the two dipping sauces combined are such an amazing combination. Everybody loved their food. Considering we were visiting parents and eating dinner out every single day for 12 days the fact that we considered this the best meal of our entire trip I think says it all. It's so nice when you go to a place and every dish is good. That doesn't happen everywhere you go. Our server was friendly, didn't hover, but yet was there when we wanted to order more and also get the bill. The vibe here is great. The food... not so much. The big issue was when a bottle of wine was order one of the glasses had someone else's lipstick on it. They then took the glass (already filled with wine) and dumped out that glass and gave a new glass, we had to ask for a new pour from another bottle as we ordered a bottle.. not just a glass. They did it and were nice enough about it. Later into the evening more glasses of wine were ordered as the bottle was finished, and..... another glass with lipstick on it!! They apologized and gave us a free dessert. The food just was not that great, the crispy rice was hardly crispy. The sushi rolls were okay but not the best. The ginger martini was very good tho. I had a great time here on a Friday night listening to music at the open mic/karaoke event that was going on. I had a Philadelphia, spicy salmon and avocado roll as part of the 3 roll combo. It was very good and filling but I took a star off because it took an hour and a half for us to get our food. The table also wasn't fully set and my friend had to ask a couple times for utensils. Overall not bad just know if you go on a Friday service might be slow. read more

Cons - not enough servers, long wait for food/service - over an hour, food brought out one plate at a time with a 5 minute wait in between, very noisy, plates of food very small portions, rice on sushi was insufficient. The sushi is great, i guess order it 3 hrs ahead of expected time? I'm so disappointed that it took over 2 hrs to deliver. I had to call the restaurant two times. I placed order at 720 and it was delivered at 927 (not to mention the delivery driver also could not find our house). Don't order from them. I guess dine there or pick it up. I wanted to like this place being that it is so close but I was more than disappointed. The vegetable gyoza came out quickly and we're cold all the way through. The duck spring rolls barely had any duck in them and were very greasy. The sushi wasn't bad but it wasn't good, very fishy. The hibachi was also cold and bland. The waitress never came over to refill our drinks or to ask how things were. There was 2 other couples in the restaurant so they weren't too busy. Not some place we would return. read more

It is always sad when you return to a restaurant you once enjoyed and discover it is now terrible. Exactly a year ago, I visited Kobe for the first time, ordered several things and, with the exception of the soup, really enjoyed myself. I was anxious to return, which I did today for lunch. I ordered a large hot sake and sashimi lunch with white rice and miso soup. The sake was awful, worst I ever had. It was barely drinkable, and I didn't finish it all. The miso soup didn't have much of anything in it and was mostly broth. It had a very strange taste. The white rice was ok, but not very exciting. The sashimi lunch was made up of 12 pieces with the standards - salmon, yellowtail, white tuna, regular tuna. There were 2 pieces of a fish that I didn't recognize and, the minute I put one in my mouth, I knew it was not fresh; so I didn't eat those 2 pieces. That left me with 10 small pieces which seemed to be fresh. Along with the sashimi, they served slices of cucumber, which didn't help very much. It didn't go that well with sashimi. Most restaurants serve shredded radish & mint, which is much more interesting. Also, the fish was too cold. It should be served around room temperature. The only plus was that the service was fast and friendly. Their prices are reasonable but, you get what you pay for. I found myself wanting to finish the food as soon as possible, get out of there, and never return. This was an unhappy experience after a happy one a year ago. read more

Sushi around the US I like sushi, liked the sushi I had last night at Kobe, but I don't know very much about sushi. More a meat and potato wantabe diner, understanding the various types of rolls, special rolls, and other common offerings at sushi places is not my area of expertise. When I looked at the list of regular rolls that didn't include descriptions, I picked Philadelphia, Boston, and Alaska. Philly rolls is one of my go-to choices, I like cream cheese. The flatter and broader roll I had, I'm thinking Alaska, had a nice fresh crunch and flavor. I liked them all, and they were reasonably priced. Others with me selected special rolls, some sort of sandwich roll, duck roll, etc, which really plated well, and were priced higher. Service was great. Kobe is not a large place and we were seated in a spot where the staff tended to congregate, so they were always right there to clear plates and offer drinks. I got a second soft drink and we were charged for two, so they may not offer free refills. The food came out reasonably quick. The ambiance was colored lights and piano music. My girlfriend ordered in from Kobe the day I flew in from Florida.I enjoyed it so much I invited my daughter, her boyfriend and my girlfriend to go for an early dinner the following weekend. The sushi was excellent but if you don't enjoy sushi the Teriyaki and tempura are also excellent. Lovely and clean room with a lovely server makes this a go to place for this traveler. read more

It would have been 4 stars however the customer service and delivery was horrible. They were over 1 hour late with delivery- no heads up, no phone call. When we called, no one was helpful, no apology. The sushi is NOT amazing enough to wait 1 hour (almost) . The sushi itself is good. This was a order that was close $200 . DO NOT USE THEIR APP, it will probably be worse. If you're willing to wait an hour later than your scheduled delivery fine. The driver did apologize when it was delivered but what would have been even better is if they offered a discount or something for the inconvenience. OH, and they forgot the spicy mayo we paid for. I understand that restaurants can be busy but they were EXTREMELY DISMISSIVE. That was the more upsetting than them being late. read more

Love the food here but I was very disappointed with the wait staff. I felt very uncomfortable and felt that they could not wait for me to leave. I was rushed to order and the check came even though I would have liked another cocktail. With a name like Kobe you would think this place would be a slam dunk, but instead it was more like a missed free throw.. we had the vegetable gyoza to start and they came out cold and soggy , and the duck roll which I felt was very greasy and the duck was almost missing from the roll. For dinner my girlfriend had 2 rolls that were mediocre and I had the filet mignon and chicken hibachi. There was no flavor in the food whatsoever. It was extremely bland. The service was poor other than ordering nobody came to check on the table or offer a refill of any drinks. A few weeks ago my husband and I ordered delivery from here and it was pretty awesome. We had a favorite local sushi place that hadn't been the same for a while, even pre-pandemic. So we decided to try Kobe. Since I had downloaded their app for the delivery I was now a member and they sent me a birthday coupon for 20% off. My husband and I decided to go to the restaurant to see how it was in person. Our waiter Tom was friendly, polite and knew how to pace the service. We ordered sake and a crispy duck appetizer which was delicious! We decided to split 4 rolls since they had the largest variety of rolls I had ever seen. Many non-typical rolls along with your familiar ones as well. The four we chose were fantastic which means we'll have to come back and try more! I'm not big I to eel but the "invention roll" with bbq eel was out of this world! And the sushi sandwich was so tasty and filling! We tried one roll with no rice and no regrets there too! Went on a very cold Saturday evening dinner. Our first time ever. It seemed nice from outside so we tried it. We found the place to have such a nice ambiance with live entertainment. I should preface this by saying - my waiter Alan was one of the hardest working waiters I've ever seen in a restaurant. He was running between every table in the dining room and doing it with little to no help! He did everything he could to ensure the experience was enjoyable and he's probably the only reason this rating isn't one star. That being said - the service needs to improve! There's no reason one...or maybe two wait staff are handling the entire dining room here during a busy 7pm dinner rush! There's no reason the manager can't be on the floor serving tables instead of in the back. When a waiter is run that much it's understandable why food was delayed and even for one dish never showed. My advice - YOU NEED MORE STAFF ON A WEEKEND NIGHT. The food is good, the waiter is good - the amount of staff is poor! Hire more, it'll make a world of difference. read more

Updating my review after two years because this place has really turned itself around. Originally, I really did not like this place. I felt that they stressed special rolls filled with eel sauce over sashimi and the true quality of fish felt masked by spicy mayo. However, KOBE has introduced some really tasty appetizers to their menu, many of which are sushi appetizers which puts a nice spin on your basic sashimi. They added spicy tuna on crispy rice, which is all the rave lately. I stopped ordering special rolls from here due to the overwhelming amount of sauce piled on them and have been ordering sashimi lately. The sashimi here is fantastic. Not too thick and not too thinly sliced, just right. The spicy tuna here isn't the best I've had which makes me not come here as frequently as I probably would if it were really tasty (I prefer New City Sushi for tuna). The salmon sashimi here is so so good. Another plus is they work with you here. I enjoy tamago in Maki style, with seaweed on the outside and they are always willing to whip this roll up for me. They also have tasty pad Thai and a solid Kani salad. One downside is their chicken yaki udon. It's much too greasy, so I would pass on that. Lastly, their lunch special is unbeatable. Three rolls for 11.95 (+tax) with a miso soup! I usually get the salmon avocado roll, spicy tuna roll, and eel avocado roll. Best bang for your buck. Keep it up KOBE. read more
