I tucked into the scallops padnam prik prao and would recommend this dish to seafood enthusiasts anytime! It had a subtle chilli sauce and the portion size far exceeded the typically sad-looking three scallops on a plate. Hubby had a dish called weeping tiger which was basically sizzling steak in a spicy sauce; hotter than your usual Thai. I still crammed in the fresh fruit platter for dessert and Dee Thai do a really good coffee- not your usual Costa fare. I adored the food but this was an expensive treat and my main thought was "glad i'm not paying". It cost in excess of £70 for the two of us but I think what pushed the price up was the cost of the side orders. Stir fried veg was £7.50 and beansprouts were £5.50. I guess the prices are reflective of the affluent area it is situated in but I think the Early evening offer of £9.90 for 2 courses and rice would be better value. For mains, I had 'Gai Kra Tiem Prik Thai' (stir fried chicken with garlic and pepper) which again, was fantastic and came out sizzling like crazy. There are two menus shown on yelp at the minute - from November 2014 and January 2015. Neither are what we were shown, and I think the prices have gone up slightly again. The setting is pretty basic, but very clean, with white tables and simple orange plastic chairs. The menu, on the other hand, is pretty comprehensive given that all of the dishes are made by just one cook in their tiny kitchen at the back of the store. Some of the dishes we tried were as delicious as you'd find in places much more salubrious than these surroundings. Sharing is definitely recommended due to the wait - see above re: numbers of cooks. The drinks you can order (all non-alcoholic by the way) are simply plucked from the shelves by the waiting staff (bottles of soft drink) or made by the cashier behind the till (hot drinks such as jasmine tea). It's not particularly vegetarian-friendly here, and some of what we had could have been presented/prepared a bit better (I'm not a fan of eating raw ginger slices or whole red chillis, for instance) - but for meat lovers who like their spice, this place is worth trying.

I was looking forward to going to Thai Kitchen No.6 after hearing it was a family run business and things are homemade. I heard about it when it was mentioned by chef/restaurateur Gary Usher - Thai Kitchen No.6 is pretty much next door to his restaurant Kala. As I looked through the menu for what food I wanted, the most important at that moment was to see what cold drink they had. Ordered a beer - helped me cool down! For starter, we sort of shared. So I tried some of the Esan Sausage (deep fried Thai sour pork sausage) and the Paw Pia Tod - crispy spring rolls. Both tasted good. Never had Esan Sausage before but tasted good. For the main, I went for the Pineapple prawn fried rice. It tasted good but unfortunately I did not realise it had currants in it - not really a fan of currants (or raisins) so had to pick around the currants - although I did eat some and tasted OK. Maybe absorbed flavour of the fried rice. The pineapple was nice and sweet and fried rice tasty. I should have realised though that it was never going to be a "massive" portion because its served in a pineapple and pineapples are not that big. Next time I go, I think I will go for Hainanese Chicken and Rice - which I almost ordered.

I went for the Pad Cashew Nut rice dish - cashew nuts, pineapple, peppers, mushroom, onion with choice of stir fried meat. I went for chicken. For starter, for the Moo Yang Grilled Marinated Pork on Skewers. This tasted OK - the sauce was a bit overly sweet though for my taste. Going back to the mains, it wasn't the best unfortunately. The flavours were OK - a bit spicy (which it did not mention in menu) but the rice was a bit soggy and some of the veg was undercooked. For a drink, I went for the Thai Pa - a session IPA called My Thai's Pale Ale. Actually brewed by Northern Monk Brew Co. Tasted pretty good. The service was good though. Friendly, food arrived very quickly.

We ordered some Thai prawn crackers with chilli dip which were very good, followed by the 'Jitrada starter platter' (£7.90 pp) which included crispy king prawn wraps, skewers of grilled chicken with peanut sauce, baked chicken breasts in pandan leaf, tempura vegetables, fried minced pork balls with garlic sauce and Thai papaya salad. Overall I'd say the platter was average, just ok, having now had a few Thai meals elsewhere in Manchester I can compare. For our main courses we shared a chicken Musaman curry (with potato, tomato and coconut milk) and a chicken Thai green curry (with coconut milk, aubergine and sweet basil) - £9.50 each. They came with a sizeable portion of sticky rice which was really tasty when the sauces from the curries were added. As the only Thai restaurant in Sale it's decent enough - the staff were very welcoming and service was efficient throughout our meal. It could probably do with a spot of modernisation, but if they removed the footbridge and Koi carp pond at the entrance it would be a real shame! Tip: If preferred, they offer a number of banquets (minimum order for two people).

When I walked in I was first a little surprised by the small bridge and Koi pond just inside the door. Yes they have Koi in a pond, inside the restaurant. The resturant is a reasonably size and at 7:30pm on a Tuesday had a surprisingly decent crowd, probably between 1/4 and 1/3 of their tables had diners. The smell of good Thai food is amazing and that was the second thing that hit me, the smell of sizzling spices and wafts of steam springing up from tables around the restaurant. It appears the sizzling plate is a little feature they offer on a lot of their dishes and it certainly adds to the experience to have those chilli smells assault you, I love it but some people may find it overwhelming. We ordered mixed appetizer selection or curried samosas, fried tofu, spring rolls and corn fritters, all very tasting with sweet chilli dipping sauce. I also ordered the Weeping Green Tiger, which is a fillet steak and vegetables served on the hot plate with a Thai Green Chilli sauce. The fillet steak was perfectly cooked, very tender and juicy. The veg was a little underwhelming and felt like it may have been steamed a little while earlier and kept warm, rather than being cooked to order, it missed some intangible freshness I couldn't put my finger but was quite okay nonetheless, I couldn't fault the green curry sauce, it had all the right mix of hot, salty, sweet and sour which indicates a good Thai dish, perhaps my only wish was that I had more of the sauce, because of the shallow sizzling plate there was only a fairly light basting and I kind of wish I'd had a bowl of extra sauce to pour over the meat and veg as I ate it. My wife had the Seafood Red Curry, which I didn't really try as I'm not a huge fan of seafood, though I did take a prawn and it also seemed very good. She had more curry as her meal came in a bowl. A very enjoyable Thai meal which was only really let down by some small details.
