Did you know that Michael's does parties?…read more My daughter wanted an arts and crafts party. I found Michael's through google. How convenient! A two hour birthday party with 8 kids was only $149 (base). They could order in Dominos pizza if you want to really minimize your effort. They provide plates and cutlery. They can decorate with balloons for an additional cost. How easy a birthday party is that? I ordered a few platters from the Publix across the parking lot and a cake (don't forget to bring a cake cutter and lighter as Michael's does not supply those). The girls had fun painting three projects and then getting to have a mid-afternoon snack and cake from Publix. Their parents were thrilled to be able to drop off their daughters with the hostess (Maria, a saint) and me while they got to run errands in Britton Plaza or return home for a couple hours. And at the end of the party, Maria did most of the cleaning, so all I had to do was gather the leftovers to bring home and load them and my daughter's presents into the car. Easiest. Party. Ever.

This year they were one of the first stores to put out Halloween decor. While I found the groovy Halloween collection a bit too bright and colorful for my fall vibes, I did snag a ghost holding a pumpkin to add to my collection.

The shop itself is an adorable little gem, very comfortable, not overwhelming. Josie was amazing at explaining the process and was helpful throughout when we had questions (yes, even "dumb" ones). The Studio features simple, yet aesthetically pleasing pieces to choose from with a wonderful array of paints to choose from. THERE IS A DESIGN CENTER! This means you can choose from stencils of all sizes and patterns, stamp type devices to imprint designs, and best of all....a computer to search images that the studio will then image and re-size for you on the spot to have a custom stencil for your creation! I've tried painting my own wine glass, blah blah...hideous, but really I was in it for the experience. This studio raised the bar so much for me! I can make my own pieces that I will use on a daily basis that I just love... Headed back in a few weeks, I'm hooked! Who knew that this artless girl could be so...artsy? Potters House most certainly had my number- ADORE, LOVE, REVISIT.

Johnny has been our instructor on more than one occasion and he's always so thoughtful with his instructions and so patient with everyone, It's always easy to reserve a wheel via text or phone call, which is recommended on busy weekends and evenings, but you can also drop in. There are several wheels in the studio and tables for adding the finishing touches like handles or other accents. You'll photograph your piece to locate it after it's been fired then return about a month later to glaze your piece. Make sure to paint three layers or the color will be super faint. A month after that you'll return to pick up your masterpiece and become hooked like me.

He gave us great techniques and tricks on making what we wanted. The first session is for you to make your own vessel and the next session in 30 days will be painting. If you're not local you can paint some of the pre-made items. As being local is better for the pottery wheel because it takes time to dry. Pottery making is a skill and is so relaxing if you have patience and a vision.

We were first greeted by the kindness of her staff-warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming from the moment we walked in. And then owner Carmen Barkett came to greet us in the gallery, and the space shifted in the most beautiful way. Carmen is deeply in tune with her passion and her joy, and just as intentional about making sure people feel truly good in her presence. She spent time with us walking through the gallery, sharing unique and wonderful stories about the art the artists and her journey-how she procured both buildings, stepped away for ten years, and found her way back to reopen ArtsiPhartsi. It was inspiring in a quiet, meaningful way. This past year has been challenging for me, and I didn't realize how much I needed to be in the presence of someone like Carmen until I was. After the gallery, we sat together in her whimsical garden and simply talked. No agenda. Just conversation, connection, and a sense of calm I didn't know I was missing. ArtsiPhartsi is not just an art gallery or a gift shop--it's something far more special- a true destination a respite from the crazy world around us. The art is beautiful, the gifts are wonderful, but the greatest gift of all was the cherished time spent with Carmen. She is authentic, beautiful, warm, loving, inspirational, and truly one of a kind. If you're in Tampa, you MUST visit this very special place! Don't let it slip by- you will thank me and Carmen!

Pay them a visit & I'm sure you'll leave with more than a few items curated just for you. **High, moderate to low end Hours: Monday-Saturday 10am-6pm
