Johnny has been our instructor on more than one occasion and he's always so thoughtful with his instructions and so patient with everyone, It's always easy to reserve a wheel via text or phone call, which is recommended on busy weekends and evenings, but you can also drop in. There are several wheels in the studio and tables for adding the finishing touches like handles or other accents. You'll photograph your piece to locate it after it's been fired then return about a month later to glaze your piece. Make sure to paint three layers or the color will be super faint. I had a great time during one of the pottery wheel classes at Drip. The owner Johnny was very knowledgeable and helpful in helping us get the most out of our pottery class. He gave us great techniques and tricks on making what we wanted. The first session is for you to make your own vessel and the next session in 30 days will be painting. If you're not local you can paint some of the pre-made items. As being local is better for the pottery wheel because it takes time to dry. Pottery making is a skill and is so relaxing if you have patience and a vision. read more

The bathrooms are never stocked with paper towels, and you're always going to have to wash your hands due to the dustiness of the artwork. The staff is super helpful. There's normally a lot of people there, and they offer lots of activities.. you can throw on the wheel, hand mold with a slab of clay, paint on pottery pieces with acrylic paint, paint on pottery with the glaze. I do recommend to bring some water to drink just because you might be sitting there for a long time, painting layer upon layer of glaze on your pottery pieces. The parking is a little funky in that you have to pay for a parallel parking or pay the parking that's located in the back lot of the building. read more

Don't wear acrylic nails if you plan on molding clay! I wasn't able to spin clay but I still had a great time with my friends. They have a wall of fixtures that are ready to be painted if you don't want or can't spin clay, you can still paint. Wear comfy clothes and plan to get dirty. You're going to love it! read more

This place is an absolute joke and no one knows what's going on it seems. Not only did I have a weird and unorganized experience with a pottery class the first time I came, I decided to try them out again and do a workshop. They advertised on their website for a mosaic cigar box workshop which sounded awesome. Not only was the date wrong on the website, I called twice to confirm the correct date and showed up on the day they confirmed to me. I even called them the DAY OF just to make sure it was still going to happen before I took myself to Ybor to kill some time before the class. I get there and tell them that I am there for the mosaic cigar box workshop. The girl, though nice, seemed extremely confused. She was trying to point me into the direction of a ceramic piece instead, which was weird because I told her exactly what I was there for. It was at that point that she told me they didn't have any cigar boxes. I showed her my confirmation email and she called her manager who said that it was delayed until next week because they didn't get the boxes in. That's fine, but I wish they would have told me that before I went all the way down there, paid for parking, and wasted my time in the area.... Again I called them just hours before to confirm and they said everything was fine. This place just has no organization and clearly does not have communication between their staff members. I was looking forward to trying this place again but I think I'll pass... Maybe they should start by making sure they actually have the correct date on their website for things. read more

Finally got to try this place out for my anniversary. Really enjoyed it ! You are able to bring alcohol with you for your time there which is a plus . Remember to bring your own cups bc I'm not sure if they provide them. There are 3 options to choose from so be sure to double check when selecting . We did the clay molding . Next time , I will do the pottery wheel . You have to come back 2.5 weeks to allow time for it to dry in order to paint . I may have not read it but you actually have to come back a 3rd time once u paint it to pick it up 3 weeks later as well . It can get pretty busy so I suggest making an appt though they do accept walk ins My only con is that we were told we had to pay a studio fee when we came back to paint . I wasn't aware of that originally and I can't recall seeing it online . read more

i was very excited to try this place out as I've seen it on social media and it looked fun and affordable but was disappointed. I went January 16th and was told the pieces would be ready for pick up in 3 weeks and would be thrown away shortly after so it was important to come soon after they were ready. I went back February 6th and was told the pieces were not ready and that I was given the wrong information that it would take closer to 5 weeks so i was told to come back in another 2 weeks. I picked up my pieces today , February 23rd ,well over 5 weeks after I had painted the pieces and was disappointed to see Drip had not sealed the pieces with a clear coat so the pieces were very chalky and looked unfinished. When I asked about if there was some sort of clear coat / sealer that should be on it they said someone from their staff should have directed us to put it on the day we painted it, no one had mentioned it at any point while painting or my first attempt to pick up the pottery. I was given a lot of misinformation and it was very frustrating dealing with the staff as no one could give me any set information and I received an unfinished piece. The place had very limited options to pick from and most of the paint they offered was either empty or dried out. The small plate I picked out to paint was only 12 dollars and the studio fee was 7 so although it was affordable you definitely get what you pay for. I do not see myself coming back and will be exploring other pottery options in the Tampa area. read more

My group chose to paint only and enjoyed that we could bring our own food with us. Very cool experience for my birthday. I've never made pottery before and did the beginners lesson and loved it. It's about a 2/3 hour process and you are given extra clay to make either additions to your creation or your own creation which I loved so I could make a jewelry holder while I'm at it. This is the perfect spot for date night or a girls night out. Your creative side will definitely come out! It's located in Ybor City where it gets super live at night. They play really cool music and a staff member is there to guide you through the process. I have long nails so the wheel wasn't my best friend but luckily I recently lost the tip on my middle finger so it helped me navigate lol. After we finished the wheel they sat us at a booth and we were able to decorate our pottery. So much fun! I created an ashtray masterpiece, a piece for our wall and my husband made a personalized ice cream cup (he loves ice cream). Once we were finished they advised us that we will come back in a month to paint. I thought that was a long time but I'm soooo excited to finish up my piece. We really enjoyed this date night and look forward to returning for the next phase of our masterpieces. DRIP is a little art studio in Ybor City. For date night, we decided to paint pottery but they also offer mosaics and the ability to use the clay wheels as well. There's a $7 flat studio fee and then you just pay the price of your items. My boyfriend and I both selected little coffee cups which were $9 each. You pick your colors, grab an apron if you want, and sit and paint! The vibes were...immaculate. The music was great, the people watching along 7th in Ybor was an awesome add, and we honestly had a blast despite the fact that neither of us are that artistic. We were there for a little under 2 hours. I wish there was an easier way to figure out what the paint colors will look like once the piece is finished and that there was a wider selection of colors, but that's nitpicking. It truly was such a fun place and I would definitely return. You can reserve spots online, but we walked in pretty easily. read more

Extremely unorganized, low quality, dishonest employees. They were out of so many paint colors, area was chaotic, but I was willing to look past that because there was a huge party at the time. But then when I was told my piece would be ready in 2-4 weeks, then didn't hear anything from them so I called after 4 weeks, they said it would be another 2-3 days, and when I went on the 3rd day after getting an email saying it was ready, they said my piece wasn't even in the kiln yet. More than a MONTH after I painted it. I asked to be called when it was ready, never got a call. When I finally picked up my piece, it was still chalky & rough they said it was fired wrong. Super, super fun! Great way to try out a beginner-friendly ceramics class. We went for my best friend's 25th birthday and had the opportunity to build and paint some cool pieces. Our instructor was great and super friendly! I wouldn't recommend this for someone who is just visiting, as it did take a while to complete the whole pottery process. We started our pieces on April 1st and we just picked up our final pieces on July 2nd. For locals that live nearby, this was fun to come back and finish our pieces but if you're just visiting I recommend maybe just painting an already-made piece since the process is so long. Nothing screams more perfect than a bestie night throwing down some clay on the wheel! My friends were first timers when it came to creating your own pottery, but the employees/instructors at Drip were amazing! They had all 3 of us feeling like pros within minutes. I took a pottery class back in college and remember being HORRIBLE at it. So not going to lie...I was definitely nervous about this adventure; But seriously it was so easy! The instructor was the sweetest and so patient! She began with asking us each what we'd like to make, and then she walked each of us step by step through the process on how to make what we had in mind. She legit explained things so well...I wish she was my professor back in college! Haha! But this was such a fun experience to have with my besties! The atmosphere was perfect! The music was great, the ceramic selection they had was awesome if you wanted to just paint, etc! I'm so excited to go back in a few weeks to paint my pieces that I created. My only criticism is that the venue is small, so when busy you are squeezing around people. BUT as a shop, that's a good problem to have! We came here for one of their classes and had such a great time! They were really busy the night we came and only two people were working. However, they did their best to be attentive to everyone there. We didn't feel rushed to finish our piece and they even allowed us to stay until they were ready to clean up and closed for the night. This is not a one day type of activity though. You have to go back at least 2 more times to paint/glaze your piece for the kiln and then pick it back up. read more
