Situated right on Omena Bay the views from here are excellent. The atmosphere is definitely in the nautical theme. Nothing wrong with that as it is done in a welcoming way. I started with their Seafood Chowder ($10) this is said to be loaded with Shrimp, Clams and Crab. I could identify these things individually, however taste wise it was excellent.  I definitely wished the cup of it had been bigger. Price seems a little steep for portion size, but no complaints taste wise. I then ordered their Fried Chicken ($19) this had Golden-Fried Breast, Drum and Thigh with Mashed Potato and asparagus. The chicken was excellent, well seasoned and crispy, but still juicy. The asparagus was cooked perfectly. The mashed potatoes were undercooked. A little harder then I prefer them to be, but edible and at least it was real potatoes. The service was great. Super cheerful and helpful. They accidentally put someone else order on my bill and they corrected it with cheer. Overall a couple minor issues, but still a solid 4 star review for me. Would I return? Absolutely! read more

Can't lie... Hannah made our brunch very special! She was very informative and kind, and we weren't expecting a lot from the "looks" of it, but there's outside seating overlooking the bay. The breakfast burritos were so good, it really hit the spot, although, might want to skip the mimosas if you're looking for an upscale bevvie. That's not to say, we didn't enjoy ourselves... our friend purchased the meal, and after we left, we headed to a winery where she tracked us down and admitted to running the card for the wrong ticket. Mistakes happen, but to track us down, explain the error, we appreciate the due diligence bc it was a lot more expensive, and she didn't have to do the extra effort! My husband & I went to the Knot Just a Bar today in April to use our 2 on the town. Waitress said they finished using it in March & couldn't be used again until November. I knew it was good thru April per what we received. We decided to go to Boones in SB instead since there food is by far better anyway when I remembered I had the 2 on the town info in my wallet that showed it was good thru April!! They did end up honoring it but staff wasn't very nice about it, one gal was super rude. Not our fault & we will "knot" be back anyway! read more

This food is Knot good! The pizza was definitely not fresh and tasted like store bought crust. The wings were overcooked and knot good. They also charge for soda refills, seriously!!! The view is good, but the food does not offset the value that. read more

We dined here last night while visiting family in Sutton's Bay. A quaint, homey feeling restaurant & bar on the water. They were featuring an "all-you-can-eat" whitefish, frog legs, Alaskan cod special served with fries & coleslaw. Good value for portion size & temperatures were on point The beer batter on the whitefish was really tasty, but it could have been a bit crispier. The fries were abundant but a bit over cooked. My fiancé said the coleslaw was 10/10 (and he's a coleslaw fanatic) & the tartar was a little sweet for our taste. Their carrot cake was the shining star - huge portion & warm caramel drizzle. The views are fabulous, but the food won't bring us back. The shame is, I think someone there cares about *some* menu items. For brunch we tried the cheddar waffles and gravy and the cakes/taters/bacon. The cheddar waffles were tasty, but the pancakes were dreadfully flat, lifeless and boring. Come on, a place that serves brunch and can't get the pancakes right? It's the first item on the brunch menu, but I suppose I should've known that you never lead off with your best hitter?! Hash browns were lifeless, too. Flat flavor, kinda undercooked. We're locals and we hadn't been to knot just a bar in years since our last visit for dinner was underwhelming. But we thought we'd try brunch and see if that was their thing. And the menu items were described enticingly. The views are great. Next time we go back, it will be for a cocktail and the view. First time to stop. Been through Omena many times on the way to Northport and saw the sign and all the cars and finally decided to give it a try. Good atmosphere, great view of the Omena Bay, and the waitress was super great. Wife ordered the Whitefish sandwich, I ordered the Whitefish dinner when told the $10 difference for the dinner included more Whitefish. Next time I'll order the sandwich. The dinner in a cone needs less fries and more Whitefish for the money. The food quality was good overall and we will be back for a 2nd visit. read more

I mean, it's fine, it's just KNOT that great. We go to Omena every year, and for a variety of reasons, this was the first time we'd visited the Knot. I had high hopes for it, but it did KNOT deliver. The food was overpriced, the drinks were meh, the beer list was weak, service was slow and the atmosphere, at least inside, is far from charming. It's great to have a restaurant option in Omena, but I'd rather drive to Suttons or Northport. It could be so good, but it's...KNOT. read more

We went to the Knot today for lunch. We are locals, so we have been there many, many times. We also frequently dock our boat there and go for lunch or dinner. The food is average, but the view and atmosphere very nice. Today I ordered a "prime rib" sandwich. The sandwich was about 75% fat, thin, tough and overcooked. I complained to the waitress, and just expected a replacement, or choice of another meal, which I would have gladly paid for. However, the owner came out and was extremely confrontational. He said that was just the way they prepared it, and to order something else next time. I told him I would be embarrassed to serve a customer a piece of meat like that. He did take the meal off my bill, but did not offer to serve me another meal, which we would have gladly paid for. Instead he was extremely abrasive, and it was apparent that he just wanted us to leave. We went to another local restaurants where I was served a lovely meal in a pleasant atmosphere. I have never been treated so inappropriately by an owner. According to some of the reviews that I have read this isn't an isolated incident. We try to support local businesses, but I can't support this extremely poor food quality, or treatment, especially as a local customer that has been very supportive of this business in the past. read more

You can't beat the food and view at Knot Just a Bar!!! There are far less tables on the deck compared to other years with Covid restrictions- yet we were seated immediately! We are cautious with Covid and even my Grandma felt safe the entire time we were there. Thank you all so much for your respect of social distance rules especially when I know there are many that have given you a hard time for it. Mackenzie was our server and she is absolutely wonderful! My kids ordered a burger off the kids' menu and received a quarter of a burger. That's 1/4 of a cut up regular burger, not a slider. Funny enough, the price of half a burger on the kids menu is more than half a burger on the adult menu. Nobody seemed to mind when I brought up how strange this was. Major deterrent. Amazing! We had such a great dinner and experience at The Knot. My sister and I had the broiled whitefish and it was delicious. My other family members had the white fish sandwiches (the Michigander) and loved it. Also the coleslaw was 10/10. Also you can't beat the view of the place. read more

It is a shame that after a years time nothing about this place has changed. The atmosphere of this resturant is completely dirty and outdated. This seems like soemtbing that needs to be on Resturant Impossible. Seriously. The food was below average. The appetizers looked like they've been sitting under a heat lamp. The "knotchos" tasted like the back of the refrigerator and came to us as microwaved cheese with shreaded chicken. It was pretty gross especially since the salsa on the side tasted like marinara. Next the pretzel knots seemed like an after thought. The pretzels were average and the beer cheese-- surprise comes with a cheese film on top. Finally the wings were dry and lacked any sort of an appeal. After half of our party received their entrees, everyone else waited and started at the pile of dirty plates that were neglected to be bussed. It is a shame that they would forget to do this since the outdoor patio is exposed to the elements and local fauna. Which means fly central station. When the entrees came they looked less appealing than anything. The server had no clue who ordered what. The salad was slimy. The ribs were dry and lacked sauce. The pasta dishes are cooked like gruel. And they were presented with a bedpan style splash. The pasta was lacking any flavor and the broccoli florets were clearly freezer burnt. This is not an exaggeration whatsoever by the way. I am extremely disappointed that my pasta came with an inch of a canola oil on the bottom. The famous fish cone was cold in the middle and everything else tasted it came from the cafeteria. Which is where this place probably advertised a job opening since all the staff is not older than 15. Everyone here seems overall clueless and unenthused. The entire Resturant needs a revamp even the bathrooms were lacking of toilet paper and were dirty. Please Robert Irvine save this once family tradition and beloved place. I'm so disappointed. Beautiful view. Nice place to go for a cocktail/beer on the deck and maybe an app. But- dinner was pricey. $18 for the burger and $5 to substitute fries. I've never been charged an extra $5 for a small side of fries with a burger that's already almost $20. We'd come here a lot more often if the prices were more reasonable. I don't expect cheap prices for great food, but our meal was average/good but $23 bucks for a burger and fries was a little off. Still- beautiful views and staff are super nice. read more

Went for late lunch and some wine, ended up with the owner yelling at and trying to physically intimidate my wife. We came for the beautiful view. Everything else was horrible. We sent back cold soup, got a salad with no dressing...but we could have dealt with that. BUT...The bill came and the wine that said $28 on the menu was charged at $32. Again, errors are common and no big deal. We asked the waiter about it and he said he would ask the owner. The owner came out and said, "that is a misprint on the menu. It should be obvious to you that all the wines are 4x the glass price, so $32 is what it is. But if you want to nickel and dime us, I'll take it off." We were upset and appalled. He implied it was our fault that we didn't figure out what the menu should say. We believed it was dishonest to know the menu was wrong and not inform customers. He did correct the bill but we wanted to be sure he correctly voided and charged the new bill. He started yelling at us, saying he worked hard all day and shouldn't have to deal with this, then telling us to get out and never come back. We left but came back in to demand an apology for such over-the-top rude and insulting behavior. He saw us and started again yelling again then stepped up to within 6" of my 5'4" 110 lb wife, stuck out his chest and was yelling in her face, trying to intimidate her. I asked him to step back. I needed to put my arm out to be able to step between them to protect my wife. He then started threatening me. In short. Potential, diners DO NOT go to this restaurant! There are MANY fine places in the area where you will get far better food and won't be insulted, yelled at, or threatened for noting a discrepancy in the bill. To the owner: 1. Do not blame your customers for reading what it says on the menu. 2. Do not yell at your customers because you don't want to correct or reprint your menus 3. Do say "I'm so sorry for the error. I'll correct it and be right back. Thank you for your patience." 4. Do get a sharpie and put the correct prices on your menus. 5. Do get counseling and anger management classes before you are charged with assault (your actions fit the definition) By the way, we did tip the waiter 20%. Do not go here... My friend was told to leave because she has a service dog and the staff did not believe that it was in fact a service dog. Mind you, Michigan law and federal ADA law states that service dogs are allowed in ALL public spaces including restaurants. Additionally, it is not required for one to show documentation that an animal is a service animal. This is unacceptable. **Noticing that there are a few other reviews of guests who experienced the same issue. The "business owner" is incredibly rude and unprofessional in his response to theses people. A piece of advice: when responding to reviews with less than ratings, you should be trying to resolve an issue, NOT argue with customers. read more

I came here with a HUGE group and wow, the wait staff actually managed it! We ended up ordering far too much because the appetizers were smaller than we expected, but the entrees and desserts were very large portions and no one snubbed anything (because it we.were enjoying it!). The fish basket was big enough to share with at least three of us, and crispy and tasty. The rich carrot cake was sized for three or more people. I also recommend stopping in the connected winery for some wine samples and shopping. Being there in the fall, there were some seasonal flavors that were very interesting! The food was bland and overpriced. The server was well meaning but had no idea what he was doing. But we were enjoying the lovely view and had decided to make the best of it. The check came and we had been overcharged for the wine. No big deal. It happens. That's when things got crazy. The owner came out and told us the price on the menu was a misprint and that it should have been "obvious" to us. He started yelling and insulting us and telling us he would change it if we insisted but that we would never be welcome there again. I told him he was being inappropriate, and he stepped close to me and looked down and started yelling again. For context, I am a 59 year old woman around 108 pounds. My husband got between us to stop him from assaulting me. Then a waitress got between them. We have traveled all over the world. We know that running a restaurant is hard work. Sometimes things go wrong. We are nice about it. The owner's rage and attempt to bully us was beyond belief. BTW--we tipped the server more than 20%. We felt terrible for him. read more

Stopped in this weekend while out on the boats and caught the staff right after what sounded like a stressful situation. Last thing they probably wanted was 2 boats of guys coming in. I believe it was the bar manager that explained the wait for tables to accommodate us was going to at least an hour so she suggested we order food and drinks to go and sit down below on the water and personally delivered all of our meals to us in a timely fashion. I felt the alternative was a great solution for our group. Covid certainly has put some serious stress on our restaurant community with all of the government restrictions to keep their staff and customers safe. Took my daughter here on a daddy-daughter date. We are locals and dock our boat here frequently. The view is amazing, but it seems that's the only thing the restaurant has going for it. My daughter got the kids burger. When it came out, it was a burger that was quartered and served as is. I thought it was a mistake, so I politely inquired and was told "that's just how it comes". It comes as a normal burger quartered? What a weird thing to do. Funny enough, I just read another review stating the same, so it's obviously not a fluke. It truly is "just how it comes". I wouldn't even be upset if it was just a small burger - I understand it's a kid's serving. But my 3 year old daughter ate her "burger" in 3 bites and kept asking me "where is the rest of my burger?". Kind of hilarious. I just gave her some of my overcooked burger, whatever. But a very weird experience. The waitress was nice enough, she doesn't have control over it. But the manager (?) was very disinterested in me simply giving constructive feedback. I have visited the Knot every 4th of July week for the past 5 years. Never had I had such a terrible experience. We were informed when being seated that they had a limited pizza and apps menu, which we agreed was a satisfactory option. We intended to buy pizza. After being seated, we were then informed that there was a band playing in their parking lot and it required a $5 cover for each person in our party. In order to stay for food we had to pay up in cash only. After ordering apps we were told they sold out of pizza and had no other dinner options available for us. It has been an incredibly disappointing experience and I write this while waiting 30+ minutes for an appetizer so we don't leave hungry. read more
