"Just imagine flying first class but paying economy" is the best way to describe Knockout Pest Control. Not only does Ryan KO the competition with price (I got quotes that were 30% to over 100% more), but he also KOs the competition in service and professionalism. I called Ryan around 10 AM and told him where I live. He said he could be at my place between 12-1 PM. Ryan showed up at 12:15 PM--right on time. Outside my front door, he could see over 30 yellow jacket (very aggressive) wasps flying everywhere and the nest is somewhere in between the walls. Ryan didn't do any bait-and-switch or upselling--just some friendly conversation before getting to work. After the first treatment, he noticed wasps inside the house (through the window) and asked if he could go inside to assess the situation. He instantly spotted a small hole in the ceiling and said, "That's how the wasps are getting inside." He sprayed insecticide in the ceiling hole and explained that's where the wasp nest was located. We went back outside, where Ryan was eliminating the last few wasps, when he said, "Wow! You've got three wasp and one carpenter ant." He explained this was unusual because wasps and ants don't typically coexist. Ryan went to his truck and returned to address my ant issue. While he was spraying the beam, I asked for a quote to handle the ant problem. He said there was a chance that his current treatment might eliminate the ant nest, and if so, it would be free. Ryan then spent another 10 minutes explaining his approach to tackle the ant issue--essentially teaching me what to do. He concluded by saying if I still needed help with the carpenter ants, I should call him. Like most people, I read reviews not only to find the best price but to find someone I can trust. You can trust Ryan like the person who does your hair. For most people, calling an exterminator isn't common, so finding a trustworthy one is difficult. Just want to add to the accolades for this business. I needed to have a quick assessment as a condition for an Inspection Report for the Sale of our family home. Our technician arrived promptly and dressed in a clean cut logo polo shirt and khaki. I thought he will just take a look but no, he crawled right up to the attic and did a thorough examination. He gave us his recommendations and proceed to do the job and he was done and came back 1 week later to check the progress and all is well. I highly recommend them as they arrive when they say, dress professional, courteous to our many questions, and did the job quickly and efficiently. I moved into a townhouse in March of this year, and found out that we had a couple of mice (my wife saw one, and there was a we found a few droppings). I immediately contacted multiple pest control companies. Ryan from Knockout was the first to call me back. Unfortunately, they don't service the area where I live yet. Ryan was great though and spent about 15 min on the phone with me, giving me tips for things I could do on my own, as well as what I should expect from a pest control company. I really appreciated him taking the time and giving me tips. I ended up trying out what he recommended, and was able to handle the issue on my own. As for the other companies I called, I made an appointment with one that never showed up, and the other major company I called wanted me to wait 2 weeks before coming on site unless I paid a rush fee. I have used knockout years ago when we had issues with mice. Ryan was quick efficient and helped seal any holes up and we never had any other issues. Recently I had to call him regarding drain flies and he has been super helpful telling us what to do and actually not coming over to charge based on an assessment that he felt was not going to do anything. He gave us some good advice and we are going to try that first and the if all else fails I will definitely call him and ask him to fumigate the hell outta our place. But he is such a nice guy and isn't like the places to just charge to come over knowing the problem can't really be fixed just to get the assessment fee. Super down to earth nice guy and totally would recommend. I have called other companies and they charge just to come over and assess and cost WAY MORE than knockout does. I just moved into a house in Richmond and discovered some "squatters". Mice in the house, something rustling around in the attic, and lots of ants. I've never lived in Richmond before and I was not used to seeing so many ants active in the winter. In fact, none of my previous houses had an ant problem. Turns out this is common in Richmond (houses are built on a bed of sand, many have heated floors, and irrigation systems (these three "features" are a guarantee for ants, so factor in regular ant control if you are considering moving to Richmond. No big deal, when I lived in Vancouver I had a mouse problem and I knew Ryan at Knockout Pest Control would know what to do. Ryan sprayed the ground floor perimeter for ants and so far its been a big improvement though I know I will need regular treatments. My house has all three features that ants love, as well as a huge paved driveway. For the bigger pests, Ryan is very thorough and really knows how to spot entry points. The previous owners of the house did have some pest control already and had sealed up some entry points but they missed some bigs ones. Ryan blocked the ground level entry points with copper wool/mesh and that should stop more mice from coming into the house. We caught 9 already and no sign of any mice since catching the last one. Ryan determined that it was a squirrel in our attic. He sealed the entry points through gaps where the roof joined other roof line or the house and installed a one-way door, so that any squirrels inside can leave but not return. Before Ryan came, we could hear squirrels every day. No sounds since. There are lots of pest control companies, but I trust Ryan at Knockout Pest Control because he knows what he is doing, he is honest and will tell it to you straight, and he is very thorough. Or, I literally never wrote a review which makes me a horrible client because I can say - without a doubt - Ryan is the most professional and dedicated person I have ever encountered. I had no idea what to expect when calling an exterminator and to be honest was a bit nervous. This summer I had a terrible ant problem, where swarms would come out of the fireplace when the sun hit our backyard. I left a message with Ryan, who is the owner of Knockout Pest Control, and he came to my place within 24 hours. He was very friendly, professional and left me with an impression that he took pride in his work. After he treated my place, he gave me some information on what to expect and that there was the possibility that he might have to return, but that there would be no further charges. In the next few days, I didn't have any more ants inside the house, but I did see them start swarming in places on my patio and near my patio door. I have nothing but great things to say about Knockout Pest Control in getting rid of our pest issues. We have had a mouse problem for a couple years now and no exterminator has been as great as Ryan has. Ryan came and spent almost 2 hours at the house where he inspected every inch of our home (inside and out). He inspected every area I had seen droppings or previous mice. He was extremely knowledgeable about mice activity (possible routes of entry, ways to help prevent, materials to use to fill holes etc.). My 85 yr old uncle lives by himself and his house had serious bed bugs issue. I believe that I was one of Ryan's first customers. He was certainly appreciative of me then; I contributed to his monthly income - and his service hasn't been cheap. While I once sung his praises I can't any more. As a west side client I became disposable. Let me explain: After years of relying on Ryan, this winter I have experienced a total lack of reliability/ integrity. For the past two weeks while I have been housing a mouse, Ryan has been playing games with me - the weather being a great excuse for not travelling west to UBC. He's deferred me, kept me on a string, while I have bent over backwards to accommodate him. I've engaged my daughter's help and my friends help to facilitate the appointment with Ryan and he has yet to keep an appointment. All this in spite of the fact that he drives a truck and the rest of Vancouver has somehow managed to continue to function. Ryan has become way too big for his britches. Like the rest have already said. Ryan is great. Left my contact info and issue on his website...ants, yup ants in January. What can i say, radiant heated floors and a wife that likes the temp at around 25 degrees....my foundation must be like a beautiful beach. Anyways i called up another outfit that is rated highly as well and they were like "we can get there end of the week", they came, they saw, then it was like, "yeah you got ants, strange for this time of year" we will come back and spray.....in like 3 weeks. You kidding. I left Ryan a message, he returned the call the same day, he came over 2 days later and took care of the situation. I understand that getting rid of ants is uber hard....especially pavement ants that are basically down somewhere in the foundation...so who knows they may pop there heads back up...at the moment (2 weeks later) all is good. Oh and on top of that he used up way more "chemicals" than expected (3700 square foot house and he had to get the whole floor, so just the main floor call it 2000 square feet, because the ants where not concentrated anywhere....they were visiting everywhere) i actually told him to charge me more because i realized his quote was based on a normal setting of "hey the ants are all in the kitchen" not "hey the ants are everywhere"......i asked to pay him more and his response was "i quoted xx" and I stand by my quote. I'll bring Ryan back in the summer to go around the outside of the house and get them before the cold weather hits. Hire this guy over the others he really is great. read more

Ryan was extremely professional and friendly. After reading rave reviews on yelp, I contacted him about a wasp issue. He explained over the phone the cost (less than $100) and we booked a visit within 2 days. He called in advance that he was running a bit later than expected, which was not a problem. I showed him where we suspected the hive was (not visible). I asked questions and he was more than willing to answer all questions without my feeling rushed. It only took about 20-25 mins. I had major concerns with my toddler and the spray etc, but Ryan assured me it was safe and as he has a toddler of his own, I knew he understood my concerns. He also provided a wasp thingy for outside where my little one plays to keep wasps away in the play area, which was not necessary and much appreciated. The charge was exactly as expected, no hidden fees. I have not seen any wasps since, but nevertheless Ryan had guaranteed he would come back if there were any wasps remaining. I am very impressed and highly recommend him. Glad to have seen the rave reviews before making a decision of who to contact. read more
