WARNING SCAM ALERT!!! Requested a quote, told its free. Then later told I need to provide my credit card information for a FREE quote. This is the first part of the scam, the second is, they email you a form for your credit card info, READ THIS FORM CAREFULLY, this form does more then just give them your credit card info. This form allows them to STORE your credit card indefinately, and it allows them to charge your credit whenever, and it is up to you when you cancel. This is all BEFORE they attend your home, and assess your issue and provide a quote. After i spoke to my partner who practices law , he told me it was ILLEGAL and a serious scam. I mentioned it to Matt Buckley who quickly deleted the link to the form he sent me, and vanished. If they offer a free quote, they should do just that, its part of the business model. If they want your credit card info, be honest about why you want it, and dont leave out important info knowing many people TRUST you and just sign. They were not even apologetic for the misrepresentation or their ill actions read more

Our home was treated for ants. The issue was not resolved due to an inadequate treatment. When we complained after one week and again after 10 days, we were told (never told this upfront) that they do not guarantee their treatment and were offered a "reduced rate" for a re-treatment!. Other companies we have dealt with in the past all stand behind their work (even though we never required a re treatment from them!) Very poor policies, not even conveyed to us. TLDR: They're EXCELLENT and I highly recommend their service if you're ever in need or ridding yourself of some pesky squirrels! Really glad we got Westside Pest Control to deal with our problem. Problem: Earlier in the year we've been hearing a lot of noise on the roof but thought it was just crows scratching on the roof. However, about a week ago the scratching got really serious where it was almost nonstop that started early in the morning until late in the evening at around 7pm. The extreme scratching might be related to the bad air quality caused by the forest fires in the states? AQI was 300 on that day...I'm not sure. In addition, we saw an abundance of roof insulation filling in our newly cleaned out gutters and 2 holes in our roof. Their constant scratching was literally driving us crazy & insomnia inducing. Their Service: Honestly, I'm really glad I decided to use their service after reading their yelp reviews and google reviews online. A close friend of mine was also happy w/ their service w/ ridding themselves of an an infestation earlier on in the year. All of their staff are super friendly, professional and well trained in my opinion. Starting with just the very first phone call w/ Melissa, she was super "informative" and reassuring and told me most likely I was dealing with squirrels and not racoons or rats. She was not only helpful, but calming. I believe I also talked w/ an Erica and one other girl? And they were all super helpful, informative and had soothing voices. At times it might be hard to reach them just due to the high volume of customers they deal with, but I tell you, it's worth the wait. Their e-mails and invoices are also super thorough with what they will cover and the price. I'm not sure if their pricing is considered pricey or competitive, but worth every penny in my opinion. "1 year warranty in our case". I called a few different companies. Some of them simply didn't respond. And some even said (telephone number via a Chinese newspaper ad...we were desperate), I'll rent you a cage for $200 in 2 days time so you can catch and release the squirrels yourself in another place...which is absolutely ridiculous in my opinion. What if they had babies in our roof? What am I supposed to do then? Some of them required a fee (i.e. $75) for the quote even if we don't require their service in the end and only gives a 1/2 year warranty. I only called so many other companies because at first they said they can't help me until September 29th due to their fully booked schedule of the month. Our problem couldn't wait as we were concerned they'll cause more problems by gnawing into our attic and possibly even wires. I'm glad I decided to call this company again (I believe I talked to Erica this time) after dealing w/ some other companies to schedule us for September 29th and put us on their priority cancellation wait list. We got lucky as a bigger job got cancelled and they were able to visit us and deal with our problem quickly. And regarding the technicians, Dylan was the first technician to pay us a visit and he was really nice and super thorough with his inspection and informing us of what needed to be done and how it was a bigger job than expected and needed 2 technicians for the greater part of the day. After that, yesterday (Sept 17th, 2020), Jester and Matt visited us (thankfully due to their other job cancellation). Wire meshed the entire soffit vent of our house's roof and had a 1 way trap for one of the holes on our roof to release the squirrels. This took around 6 hours. Jester also helped me by thoroughly getting rid of the insulation stuck in our gutter caused by the pesky squirrels even though it wasn't a part of his job description. In addition, all 3 of them called me to let me know in advance even if they think they might be 10-15 minutes late. And honestly, all of them probably showed up only around 5 minutes late? at most. There's a better word to describe this positive characteristic in Chinese, but the closest English terminology that comes to mind would be "responsible." Today, we saw the squirrels as they tried to get back into our roof again. They're cute, but annoying. I'm hoping there aren't any anomaly babies inside our roof *fingers crossed*. Apparently, if there are babies, momma squirrel will go a little crazy and we'd have to open up 1 on the access holes again and live with them until they're all grown up and leave the nest..... And if there are no problems *fingers crossed*, in a week, another technician will come over and inspect our house. And I'm sure he or she will be just as nice and professional as everyone else I've dealt with so far. I hope I never have to call them again for another pest problem, but if I do, I will definitely use their services again. Let me amend my review of Westside..yes I am frustrated because out mouse situation has gone on too long.apparently Westside does not block interior holes because the mice may chew new ones..and the mouse situation is still a work in progress here. And we have tried traps with peanut butter, sweet jam. Bacon fat, cheese, ultrasound, stick paper, cctv and air pistols...nothing has worked except out tenant twice startled mice who panicked and ran onto sticky paper. We need new solution..these mice are hep to the old ones. read more

First time to use a pest control company. Always handled pests (wasp/mice/rat/raccoon) myself. This company wasn't recommended by anyone, I relied on yelp this time (Google is not accurate) I had high hopes of their guarantee package for mice but the technician stated it wouldn't apply to the property in question. He was articulate in his reasons which were valid. I have no doubt that if it was possible he would have. The visit was thorough with lots of advice and many questions answered. It was a definite plus to have a qualified tech onsite. With his advice I'm hoping to have our rodent issue solved. I would highly recommend this company. The technician attending was Dancel. Three years after this company dealt with our silverfish problem, none have returned. I fought silverfish for two years with various traps and caught many, but they never disappeared. The technician sprayed every corner of the house and was successful! Very happy with Westside! read more

Called Westside Pest Control for a wasp issue where they burrowed into the house wall and were flying inside. I called afterhours, but I still got through to a live agent, which was great. Described the issue, and had an appointment booked. That day, Sean found where the nest was and sprayed it. Problem solved. He also checked an area where birds were heard, but about a year ago. He spotted that existing mesh was secure and determined that there weren't other places that they could have entered. He concluded that although it sounded like they were inside the house, they were outside all along, and never got in. Now I feel much more settled. I had Westside come out today to remove a starling nest from high up near the top of our 2-storey Vancouver house. Brennan was very professional, friendly, and accommodating. He quickly got to work with his tall ladder, and managed to clear out the nest. Fortunately, there were no eggs, as the starling fenale had not yet laid any. Brennan screwed the loose soffit boards in place, so the birds will not be able to enter the area again (a flicker had previously nudged aside a loose soffit panel, but had perhaps abandoned its nest). Brennan then inspected a similar gable setup at the rear of our house, and noticed peck marks where a flicker had obviously tried to gain entry at some point, by pecking at the wood fascia panels. Brennan installed a strip of metal mesh, to reinforce the fascia area and prevent any bird entry. The black metal mesh is hard to notice against the dark brown fascia panels. In addition to doing the bird exclusion work, Brennan was helpful in offering advice on getting rid of nuisance raccoons that like to use the side of our house as a latrine. I was very impressed with Westside Pest Control, and wouldn't hesitate to use them again! read more

I have been coping with a mouse problem in my second story condo. Michael came out today and thoroughly searched for all entry holes. He blocked all the holes where mice might be getting in. He set up numerous traps and was careful to use a covered device for any traps that were accessible to my dog. He explained the billing process and what my options might be. When I try to book him, even the receptionist says "everybody wants Austin" and I will wait as long as it takes to get him to my house to handle my mouse situation. Very happy with Westside's service - we discovered a melon-sized wasp nest in our garage on Thursday afternoon, and Westside was able to come out Friday morning and handle it for us (my wife is really afraid of wasps). The nest was big enough and enough wasps inside to require the technician to wear a protective body suit. Wasps didn't care for their house getting removed one bit, and I'm sure if I had tried, I would have been stung multiple times. Only took about 20 minutes to remove the problem nest, and they never came back. The fee for the removal was reasonable for the nature of the work provided. read more

I contacted Westside Pest based on their website. I had a rodent issue. The company said that they provided a one year warranty against the return of rodents. After their initial assessment, they did what they said. Sometime later, I noticed that the rodent issue remained or moved, to be accurate. Westside returned, and after looking into the matter, made some additions to what they had originally done. A third call quite a bit later brought a technician out yet again. They again, pleasantly, addressed the issue. To be fair, my area is particularly problematic, yet West Side showed up with a smile and took care of the issue, and at no additional charge from the first visit. I am a business owner. I actually know what it takes to run a business. I am wary of and used to less than quality service from many companies. This is NOT the case with West Side. They have been great! read more

We had an unwanted guest in our attic. Westside pest control was able to have someone to our home within a couple of days. Jester was extremely knowledgeable, professional, and kind in dealing with our situation. He quickly identified that our guest was a squirrel and found its access point. I called Westside Pest Control because of rat sightings in my front and backyards. They are friendly and helpful on the phone, the technician came on time on the scheduled day and he seems very knowledgeable and was helpful in explaining things to me. However, I was disappointed in two aspects: 1. I thought the appointment was going to be 2 hours long, it lasted less than 30 minutes. 2. I thought there would be a thorough check of the exterior and a walk-around to point out all the things I could do to deter rodents, but instead I just got one sentence, "we can't do any guarantee on the roof tiles." The technician installed wire mesh on the two places that I pointed out where I saw rats entered my garage. There were no new findings by the technician (to be fair, maybe there wasn't). But I felt like I have done all the work already, there wasn't any additional things that I have learned. There are three visits included in the package and the technician placed bait stations around the perimeter according to where I had rat sightings. The next two visits were even shorter, the technician just came and checked the bait consumption, then added new baits, 5 minutes max. It was only after I requested that he moved the station with little consumption to a different spot. So really three visits come to a total of less than 45 minutes for a charge of $547 including taxes!!! I would have given the company 3 stars if the charge is more reasonable. After the three visits were up, I had the option to go to a monthly plan, the technician would come once a month to check the bait stations. It was not worth it. I understood that rats that consumed the bait would die somewhere else, I will never see the result. But there is nothing to give me confidence that whatever is done is working, the consumption rate remains high, and I don't know if that means the bait stations are attracting rats that would otherwise not have come near my house! There is little to tell me that my $547 had been well spent. I decided to discontinue the service and purchased a few $8 rat traps from Walmart and put them around my premise. At least I am catching a few rats every week and have something to show for the money I spent. I would never recommend my friends to control rats the way Westside Pest Control did, I could have bought 60 rat traps with that money. read more

Very bad and unprofessional team members including the manager. The company Did not solve our woodpecker problem. This was followed by a No Show follow-up visit that never happened in the end. I had to call the company Many times to chase a return call. The manager also handled the problem poorly and unprofessionally. Stay away! In the end my house's woodpecker problem was still there. This section is updated in response to merchant's review: it was 2 year and 5 month ago. I have visa bill you guys charge to my card still. I am extremely busy so haven't had time to post and warn other consumer. Busy because of two jobs, one of which look after properties for friends . Ondrej was wonderful and thoroughly inspected our house for possible entrance points for the rat / mouse problems we were having, before explaining to us where his suspicions were. The entrance points were sealed, snap traps were laid (part of the one time visit) at which point we upgraded to the 3 time visit for laying down the rodenticide indoors as well. We have always trusted the Westside team at our place. We seem to get our fair share of pests, like bees, critters, and the most annoying of all, mice! There was a construction project across the street, and when that old abandoned house went down, guess where all the mice went? Yea... Anyway, we tried to fix it ourselves with a bunch of Home Depot gidgets, and then we called in a large chain control provider (the "Chain"), who only seemed to use traps and a few poisons. The Chain was also difficult to get a hold of to re-set the traps and such. Maybe it's just me, but one visit every couple of months, with mice still running around, seems too long. The Chain person responsible for our place also kept changing. So this finally brings our little story to Westside. What a difference! They set a schedule for when they would return. Not only was it relatively quick, they also kept to the schedule and showed up when they said they would. Westside also conducted a thorough inspection and found all the likely areas the mice were using to get in. I also felt educated by Westside, who have always been very knowledgeable in explaining how those blasted critters work, how they move and how to use that knowledge to our critter-expelling advantage. This isn't just with mice, but also with bees, flies, etc. I feel like I can call Mike about anything pest-related, and the different personnel who come like Jeremy, have always been professional and knowledgeable too. I also felt I was taught how to avoid this problem in the future - moving garbage cans and other stuff further away from the house, etc. The Chain controller barely spoke to me; Westside on the other hand, actually gave me info I could use. Most importantly, aside from the traps and poisons, at the end of the mice process, Westside went around our place and closed up all those darn holes the critters were using to get in. This service was vastly superior to the service from the Chain, and it didn't cost anything extra. They also guarantee exclusion for a certain period of time, and unfortunately for other pests, we have had to use that guarantee. I just appreciate that we were never given any hassle or grief in our attempt to redeem it. Just professional service, as always. So all in all, I can confidently say Westside is our pest control company for life! I wish we didn't need to give this designation to any company, but alas, pests are sometimes part and parcel with owning a place. I couldn't recommend them more highly. read more

A squirrel entered the small space between the metal roof and airspace in our roof removing insulation and eating through the ceiling. We tried three experts to deal with the issue. The first boarded up the access hole with the squirrel inside and had to undo the work as it went berserk trying to bite and claw its way through the seal. The second expert could not help us as he considered the access hole too high to safety work on. The third, who did not instil confidence, promised a quote the next day. We then called Westside Pest Control who sent a technician (Egor) who quickly evaluated the problem added a one way door and closed off another hole we had not seen. He was courteous, efficient and effective and a pleasure to work with. After some time when we had no more squirrel activity he came back as he said he would, removed he door device and sealed the hole without disturbing us. Job well done! Jon F read more

Pests can be a touchy and not fun subject. My contractor suggested West Side, cross checked with Yelp and gave them a call. The tech that came out had great people skills communicating to both myself and my tenants. It was great him reinforcing what we were doing correct and educating what could be done better to clean up the pest problem. I also found him to be honest about what level of a pest problem I had and what plan he felt was advisable to take care of it. This is what leads to returning customers! I called Westside to remove a wasp nest from the side of our house this past July. The service was top-notch; prompt, efficient, and both the office staff and Vlad, who did the actual removal, were warm, polite and considerate. They offered lots of warning before starting, explaining that the wasps could be aggressive for 2-3 days, and let my neighbours know as well. The wasps actually disappeared completely overnight, and both we and the neighbours' kids can eat in our back yards again.
