We provided all of our tax information on a timely basis and it wasn't until later in the summer we realized that the office staff had not e-filed our tax returns due to not receiving the appropriate form for them to file on our behalf. Given that we paid tax filing services, it is a reasonable expectation that he and his staff would see our filing all the way through consulting us on the necessary steps. Upon discussing the situation with the office staff I was instructed to speak with Troy to see if he could rectify the situation and accommodate us. Within hours I received correspondence from Troy dismissing and 'firing' us. I was so disappointed that he only listened to one side (his staff) and not listen to his customer before making such a brash decision. I was taken aback that there was such no thought given to the customer. In hindsight, the level of service provided is minimal to none. Once Troy receives all your tax information in a one hour meeting, everything else is handled hastily with no customer interface except via email from his staff. For something as important as tax returns, a more personal level of service should be expected. Go elsewhere.

I would strongly advise against working with them and will be seeking a new tax accountant for next year. Months after filing our 2022 taxes (November 2023), we had an unapproved $500 withdrawal from our back account by kroyCPA. Once they finally got back to me, they explained that our payments from April and May 2022 ($250 each) had failed and they were attempting payment again. We were not notified in April, May, or any of the months leading up to November that these payments had failed, nor were we given a heads up before they tried again months later. This miscommunication left a bad taste in my mouth, and unfortunately we didn't seek out a new tax preparer then. I wish we had. For our 2023 taxes, we submitted all of our documents on March 5 and March 13. I received an email on March 11 saying that mine had been received, and once my husband submitted his, I sent a response on March 13 letting them know he had done so and asking if anything else was needed. I never received a response to this inquiry. On March 29 I sent a follow up message through their portal and still received no response. On April 2, I left a voicemail around 8:30 am, called again once they were open around 10:30 am and was told I would receive a call back. After not receiving a call back, I called again at the end of the day and was once again promised a call back. On April 3, I called once again and was told I would receive a call, sent another message through the portal, and followed this with an email marked URGENT. I finally received a call back the afternoon of April 3, and honestly I think it was only because I said if I didn't receive one that day that I would find someone else to do our taxes. While I appreciated that we were offered a $100 discount on their fee, I did NOT appreciate discovering that kroyCPA had increased their fees from the previous year and did not notify us (or likely, any of their clients). Honestly, everything about them feels kind of shady. After being ghosted this year, I went back through emails from last year and found that there was a pattern of non-responsiveness. I understand that we are not their only clients and this is a very busy time of year, but confirming they have everything they need from us would have taken 5 minutes. (Also, they didn't - they had questions about 2 documents based on our 2022 taxes for accounts that we no longer hold, and did not ask this until I finally received a call back yesterday.) So again, if you are looking for someone to do your taxes, I would look elsewhere. Their fees are EXORBITANT and the customer service is non-existent.

Unbeknownst to me, Aman filed my taxes late and I incurred a $9000 penalty with The Ca. Franchise Tax Board. I have tried reaching him to find out why this happened and he has not responded. Meanwhile, the Ca. Franchise Tax Board refuses to refund this penalty back to me as they do not hold accountants responsible for filing taxes late for their clients. I strongly encourage you to be aware of this Accountant and not trust him with your tax preparation. .
