We've been here a few times for various concerts-performances over the years...most recently, for King Crimson and Beethoven Symphony #5...and I've been meaning to write a review, so here goes. First of all, I really like this theater. Of course it's not as big as Blumenthal (Belk), but I love the size of this theater. Due to its size, you always get a good view of the stage wherever you sit (especially referring to the rows downstairs). Also, it's a really nice, clean theater (think renovated recently...but I could be wrong). One thing that could use some improvement is the spacing between the rows of seats. It's so tight, it's truly hard to get past folks in the same row...say, if you arrive a bit late, or is trying to get out! I also noticed that for the last visit, there were some chairs out in the lobby...Yay to that! Lastly, I also like the acoustics at this theater. Everything seems to be on point However, there are a few things that I found a bit offputting. For this last performance, they didn't 't allow any photography now (even without flash?)...which I don't quite get. I DID manage to take a few pics, but before the show started. Good thing...'cuz I didn't realize it was forbidden. Maybe I didn't know any better, but I recall taking pics during the performances in the past. Maybe it's a new policy...or maybe it depends on the performance?? Last thing I wanted to mention was that after the show, there's this sense that they want us out quickly...as in pronto! I don't understand why the place can't be more hospitable, and stay open for at least 30 minutes after the concert...so folks can chat, drink, etc.etc. I mean, it was Saturday night...and really not that late either! On this last concert (Beethoven Symphony #5), they sort of bum-rushed us out by 9:45 pm (concert ended at around 9:30 pm)...and I was basically the last person inside...Why? I was waiting for my husband to pick me up in the car, and I didn't want to stand outside in the cold. Well, at 9:45 pm, I noticed that I was the last one in the place, and the ushers were sort of giving me the eye...basically bum-rushing me out! WOW. I don't recall that happening at any other late-night venue in town...where folks are encouraged to leave only 10-15 minutes, following a concert. So anyway, that's my take on the place. 5 stars for the space, cleanliness and acoustics...but 2 stars for service (not sure how I'd describe this rushing folks out part lol!). Since I'm a fan of this theater, I'll still drop 4 stars...but just wanted to mention that I'm NOT a fan of the near-rude service after the performance. read more

A few days ago my family went to see the Hip Hop Nutcracker at the Knights Theater. We've seen different shows here and have always had a nice experience. It's a nice theater with good food and snack options during intermission. The restrooms are plentiful. Pro tips: This theater is not located at the Blumenthal Performing Arts Center, so google Knights Theater parking to prevent wasting time. Also, after we arrived on time (according to GPS) we waited another 15 minutes at the traffic light before turning into the parking deck. Saturday night traffic uptown is insane so plan ahead. Also, the show was wonderful. read more

First time at this theater, its not the main theater, much smaller, but great spot for a smaller show. Parking was easy, see website for parking discounts available for venue parking decks. Thankfully we got lucky and got free parking on the street. The weekends are free, make sure you see the city of Charlottes website for details. We where greeted and seated promptly upon arrival. Customer service was professional and kind. We saw "The Soldiers Play", which was really exceptional! Enjoyed all the actors in the play. I you get a chance please support them and share the info. Some of the smaller productions don't enough praise that they deserve. I will most definitely be checking for more shows at this smaller venue Knight Theater. Tip: the fees online are outrageous, go in person at the box office to save a few coins. Unfortunately I don't live in Charlottes, so I purchased online. read more

Lovely intimate theater in a fun urban location. Part of the phenomenal Blumenthal Arts. Every seat is good. Sound is fantastic. Facility is modern. In the last 6 months I saw "Hip Hop Nutracker" (delightful -give it a chance!) & "Almost Elton John" here (also amazing). For dinner try Fin & Fino across the street- fantastic seafood. read more

I went to the Knight Theater to see Tower of Power a Soul band and the experience was incredible. There is not a bid seat in the house and the sound system is divine. I thoroughly enjoyed the venue and the band. The staff assisting you in finding your seats was very pleasant and helpful with smiles. The band has been around since 1968 yet they seemed like they never stopped playing. I was thrilled and amazed. read more

I've been here several times for shows and musicals that Blumenthal has put on. It's not the main theater for Broadway shows, but there's usually a couple per season here. It's smaller than Belk theater, but I think it's the third largest after Ovens and Belk. I really like the size of this theater. It's small enough that even if you get cheap seats, you still have a good view of the stage. The theater is nice and clean. The bathrooms are big enough to handle the crowd size usually. Parking is my least favorite part about the theater. Street parking is hard. The designated garage is at the Duke Energy building, but you could be waiting forever to get out of that garage after the show. We recently parked at the Green parking garage across the street instead and that was better. Overall, I think this is my favorite theater in Charlotte to see a show at. read more

So, what brought me to Charlotte? The Most Incredible Thing, a ballet featuring Pet Shop Boys music, did. One of my friends asked if we should meet up to see this ballet. The three of us planned this trip for at least half a year. We are that co-ordinated! Opening night was on a Friday. We decided to see the ballet on Saturday night. We lucked out. There were technical difficulties at Knight Theater. Shows on opening night and the matinee on Saturday were cancelled and rescheduled. Our booked evening became the ballet's opening night. I love what Charlotte has done with the arts scene. The downtown area is full of culture, arts, and entertainment. I drove us over there and parked at a parking garage steps away. It was $5 to park overnight, which worked out nicely. Knight Theater is a gorgeous arts centre. I loved the disco-like statue that greets you as you walk into the place. The ushers were helpful in scanning out tickets and letting us know where to go. The facility reminds me of where the Royal Winnipeg Ballet performs. It's cozy and there isn't a bad seat in the house. The main floor had a number of activities for both adults and children alike. We posed for a photo. A woman there was kind to take photos using our cell phones and cameras. There were also crown-decorating and balloon-twisting arts and crafts to keep everyone entertained. If you want a drink, there are plenty of stands to get one or several. We didn't, as we decided to get dessert afterwards. We sat in the first row up in the balcony area. The view was amazing. My friend did a great job ordering our tickets. I had a rather fidgety man next to me. He constantly picked his nose and refused to share the arm rest. I simply didn't want his germs! The ballet was amazing. It was modern and flowed nicely. The Charlotte Ballet should be so proud. Since it was opening night, the choreographer, Javier de Frutos, took a bow at the end. What surprised us was Neil Tennant, half of Pet Shop Boys, making an appearance at the end. Both gentleman and the ballet production group took about seven or eight bows. It was sweet and much deserved. We loved the performance so much that we returned the following day for the matinee. We had cheaper seats higher up in the balcony. However, you can't go wrong sitting anywhere. You can see everything without any obstructions. You are not permitted to take photos during the show. That rule was obeyed by every patron, which was nice. This theater has both stairs and an elevator for those needing assistance. It was a nice touch. After the show, there were street performers. A trio (drummer, trombonist, and tubaist) were jamming up a storm. I loved their rendition of Bruno Mars's Finesse. It was a nice end to a wonderful night at the ballet with great friends. Volunteer ushers were rude during the Bruce Hornsby concert. I spoke to the manager and he implied that it was due to my husband's and my behavior which consisted of using Soundhound and google to research the music titles and look up the band members names. There was no playbill or other handouts to access this information. read more

I went with my sister to Knight Theater at the Levine Center for the Arts. As far as inside the theater goes, the design and patterns are rather dated and could definitely be updated. The seats are hard to sit in for a long performance. The lobby was very elegant, as well as the bathrooms (ladies will appreciate this). I liked that they made a makeshift bar in the lobby for wine and drinks to be purchased inside the theater. Amazing view from the outside in at night. Conveniently located near Uptown. read more

Alton Brown! My wife and I are big fans of his Good Eats show and when he came to town with a show as part of the North Carolina Science Festival, we absolutely got tickets. And we splurged and got the best ones that were available - third row center. And we also upgraded to the "meet and greet" which included photos and autographs. Awesome. Oh, yeah. The Knight Theater. Large enough that it's a big crowd, but small enough that it's an intimate setting. Excellent acoustics - I know that the folks up in the balcony could hear him just fine because there was a good amount of Q&A at the end. The lobby and the other non-theater parts of the facility are very nicely appointed and quite comfortable. Maybe some more seating would be nice for those of us that like to arrive after the outer doors open but before the inner doors open. Slowest elevator in the world. I'd really recommend the Knight. Very nice theater, very comfortable. Excellent! read more

We visited on November 1st 2019 for the Grand Illusion (Dennis DeYoung) tour. While the concert was absolutely amazing, the seating wasn't the best! We were cramped up in our seats for nearly 3 hours, because the seats do not allow a generous amount of room for your legs if you're tall. There's also not a lot of arm room as well. When we got to the theater, we weren't even allowed inside until a certain time, and we weren't allowed past the front ticket counter until an even later time, so a lot of people that showed up early for the concert were turned away and forced to wait outside in the cold. Once we were actually allowed inside, the process of getting to our seats was fairly easy and organized. The same for leaving as well. If we come to see another concert here, we will probably purchase box seats so we can have more room! read more

World class venue for all sorts of performing arts! I've seen The Most Incredible Thing (Charlotte Ballet), Hip Hop Nutcracker, Hedwig, Black Violin, etc here recently. Very intimate theater. Seats and sound are great no matter where you sit. This is a gem! Gorgeous modern architecture right in the middle of Uptown, between Mint Museum Uptown and Bechtler Museum of Modern Art. Always a lot of creative energy inside and out. Always can find great shows here from Charlotte Ballet and Blumenthal Arts. Perfect! read more

My daughter and I attended The Hip Hop Nutcracker here tonight. We've never been inside The Knight Theater and with this being our first time I must say the staff, the set up, the restrooms and the theater itself was very welcoming. The space is very open with some large pillars through out but nothing so distracting that you can't take in the high ceilings and open floor plan in the lobby and mingling area which is what I like to refer to it as for theaters before the show. The actual theater and seating set up was very nice and in my opinion there wasn't but one bad seat in the house. I could be Bias as we were in orchestra seating, however when we entered (Door 3 for our seats) I looked around and every seat seemed positioned in a way that everyone could see well which is what I thought until the show started and I looked to the seats to the right of the stage if you are facing the stage and noticed that a young lady was almost over in orchestra seating with her neck trying to see the stage when the performers had props and did things on the right of the stage behind (really like 2 o'clock of the 3 o'clock dj) the Dj booth. Luckily there were only a couple of short scenes in that area of the stage (total time spent in that area for this productions was about 15-20mins) where the people not so tall in this seating to the right of the stage facing the stage elevated could not see. The other thing is the seating isn't really on a slope where it helps when you aren't so tall and someone tall sits in front of you and prevents you from seeing.My daughter is actually taller than me however someone sat in front of her that was extremely tall so she had to basically lay on my chest to see some scenes on the floor of the stage due to this. I look forward to checking this place out again and seeing another production as we've been in Charlotte now for 4 years and this is our first time checking out a production here. We usually go to New York, Chicago, Spain, L.A, etc.. or somewhere else to see productions because we know what we will get which is nothing short of amazing experiences. I am glad we experienced this place now so we will be back for sure. read more

This theater is an excellent venue -- it is spacious and capable of housing small to large scale touring shows. Shows range from the local theaters, I had to small producing companies, 2 Large straight from Broadway shows. A beautiful venue located in the heart of Charlotte uptown. Great venue with lots of great seating options. I recently saw a ballet here and I was very impressed with the venue. I love the first row center on the grand tier balcony or the orchestra center, but the box seats on the grand tier are good too. The Knight Theater is a beautiful new theater Uptown. It's surrounded by the new Bechtler Museum of Modern Art, the up and coming Mint Museum Experience Art, Duke Energy Building, and the Afro-American Cultural Center. Park in The Green's parking garage ($5 on Saturday or Sunday) or at the Duke Energy Building. However, there isn't a coffee shop to go hang out at as you wait for the crowd to get in their cars and take off. Beautiful facility! The downfall is when you arrive. They didn't seem to plan enough space (like the Belk Theater) for you to mingle in the lobby area. It's crowded. They need to build a place outside for the box office so that once you are inside you can easily get to your next destination. Until they get the box office ironed out, I suggest that you print your own tickets or have them mailed to you. There were many people that were stuck waiting in line for their "will call" tickets and were not allowed into the performance until the intermission. I couldn't get cell service once I was inside. I'm not sure if that is only for AT&T customers or if they have something that jams the signal. Hopefully all phones didn't get service so that way performances can be distraction free. I'm looking forward to returning to many great performances here! read more

Came here to see Little Mermaid Ballet. Parking was easy to to find and park. Just parked in the garage next door and walked straight to the theater. We were greeted and guided to our seats. This is a solid choice for theater events in the Queen City. The Knight Theater is a smaller venue, but they get a great amount of exciting acts that want a more visceral experience with the audience. The acoustics are great and lighting is handled well. Staff are friendly and informative. The venue has a full-bar available. Bathrooms are easily accessed. Because the theater is smaller there isn't a bad seat in the house. It's easy to get to in uptown Charlotte with plenty of parking around and an easy walk from anywhere in the area. We parked at the Westin and walked up from there. There are several restaurants in the area for pre- or post-dinner drinks or dinner. read more

We went to the Bon qui qui show. It was great but this review is about the theatre. We parked in a parking garage and only paid $6 for parking. As soon as we walked in there were ushers asking everyone if they needed help and guiding just about every person. We were VIP and I have to say besides front row seats and meet and greet there was nothing more. No nice seats or drinks. They did have about 6 mobile bar thingies where you could buy liquor. That's cool. Staff was extremely friendly, organized and professional. The stage is a decent size, great lighting and big screen. Definitely recommend. read more

Was here for a concert. This is a small theater and good size I might add. Street parking is hard to locate in the vicinity. There is a indoor parking lot across the street for $5. Ordered tickets online and the staff was great with assisting us with seat selection. They sent an email confirmation and provide confirmation on the phone as well. Picking up the tickets was so easy. As you walk into the Knight Theater on left hand side is the Will Call for picking up tickets. They charge like close to $10 with the fees and taxes whether you order online or via the phone. Acoustics wide- You can hear without any issues. We were located right in the center in the Orchestra area. My friends, who purchased tickets up in the Mezzanine said that the acoustic was not that great. read more

Was really looking forward to my event at the Knight Theater. Had bought my husband these tickets as a gift for our first wedding anniversary. Turns out you need to have been vaxxed or have a negative covid test? Who knew?? They didn't tell when I purchased the ticket. And of course in the days leading up I checked the website for their covid protocols but didn't see it anywhere. All I saw was that you needed a mask. Really disappointed and honestly disgusted by the discrimination happening here. You should be ashamed of yourselves. Will never buy tickets for an event here ever again. read more

I have enjoyed going to the Knight Theater for Jazz and other concerts. It is a great venue. The acoustics are awesome. The seating is very good if when reserved early. I have not sat in the balcony but with the sellouts that occur, I assume it is comfortable with great views of the performances. The host staff is very supportive in helping to locate the seats. At my last visit, someone had inadvertently sat in my seats. The host quietly directed them to the correct seats. I look forward to shows and concerts at the Knight Theater. Parking also is very conveniently located within 100 yards of the theater entry. Which is great, even for the $5. expense. Looking forward to many other great concert visits there this year ...and beyond. read more

Great, smaller theater located near the Art Museum. They offer parking for only $5 in the Duke building on the weekends, which isn't too shabby- but note- it's cash only! They have a bar inside that serves beer, wine, soda, water and some select snacks. Last time I went to a show I got a water, soda and a bag of M&Ms for just $4! The sound is great throughout and there seems to be no obstructing beams throughout the theater blocking anyones view. We sat in the last row of the orchestra seating and it was great! Any seat you purchase here looks to be a winner- and since it's smaller you don't have to worry about bring your binoculars to see the stage ;-) The staff and ushers were also helpful with finding out seats. I would definitely recommend this theater and would attend another show here. read more

Went to see "A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder" last weekend at the Knight Theater. This is a GREAT theater. It's on the small side, which I really liked. We had upper level seats, but I felt like there would be no bad seat in the house. When we arrived, we were greeted by very friendly staff who quickly scanned our tickets and checked our bags. Then another staff member told us where to go to find our seats. The show was getting ready to start, so we went to our seats immediately. We passed by the concession stand on the ground floor and it looked inviting. Imagine a movie theater concession stand only with adult items (wine, beer), and better snack options and ultimately much fancier. We we got to our section, another staff member greeted us and escorted us to our seats. It was so nice! Our seats were comfortable and our view was excellent. I went to the restroom during intermission and was greeting by yet another staff member who was helping direct people in the restroom since there was a long line and limited time for intermission. This was so helpful! I will definitely be back to the Knight Theater to another show because the entire experience was wonderful. read more

I find myself at Knight Theater more often than the other theaters in and around Uptown; Knight seems to get more of the artsy and funky kinds of shows than their grown-up sister venues. After visiting a handful of times, I'm consistently impressed with the venue itself and with the people who work there. Ushers are always kind and helpful and seem to genuinely enjoy their work. Parking is simple and affordable. On Sundays, the deck at Duke Energy Center doesn't seem to bother with staffing -- our parking cost zero dollars and only a few minutes of our time navigating the deck. The location is wonderful, too. On the edge of Uptown, on the way to Southend, there are several great attractions and restaurants worth visiting before and after the show. Traffic always seems to be a bit less crazy on this side of Uptown, so don't be afraid to explore on foot. I've never chosen to go to a show specifically because of the theater it's playing in, but I'm always pleased to see Knight Theater printed on my tickets. read more

One of uptown Charlotte's newest venues, the Knight is a bright spot for the performing arts. Seating almost 1,200 across three levels, the theater is spacious but has created a very intimate feeling between performer(s) and audience. Having sat at all three levels, I can say there are pluses to each one and there is not an *awful* seat in the house. In fact, due to the angle of the tiers and their rise between levels, you will literally feel very close to the performance at all times. Acoustics and sound technology are all top notch and greatly enhance the performances I have seen so far. The lobby spaces and VIP lounge are also well thought out and usually host a number of stations for libations and refreshments. As a bonus, some performances even allow you to take your beverage into the show with you- something unheard of until more recent times. As with other Blumenthal performing spaces, there are ushers aplenty to make sure you find your best doorway and correct seats. One warning: if you are late you will likely wait till a natural break in the performance to get to your seats. The space feels very modern and welcoming throughout, and adds a touch of class to every performance. Whether seeing the symphony or a modern folk duo, an evening at the Knight is always a classy event. Being connected to the Bechtler museum and just across from the new Mint museum makes this space a great place to connect with the arts. read more

When we arrived the staff was very friendly, we were promptly greeted and pointed in the right direction of our seats. There's not a bad seat in this theater. I've been to this theater several times for different shows. I've sat in the balcony, orchestra sections, in the far rear, all over and every seat has been a good seat. I also like how they have Wi-Fi so you can post to social media about your show experience since you don't get good cell reception in the theater. read more
