You'll find candles for almost any ailment, predicament or situation. Baby mama drama, legal trouble, help winning the lottery, etc. Some of them are printed on the jar but other signs are taped onto the jar (a little low-rent for my tastes). Room for improvement includes pricing all the candles. I picked one up without a price tag and it was $8 when I got to the register, when I saw many others priced around $6 or $7. It was a gift for a friend so not a big deal. Discount Candles is a really fun shop whether you believe the hullabaloo or not. They offer a wide variety of candles, incense and oils to choose from, and they've got a large (free!) parking lot to the right of the store for your convenience. Check the photos I uploaded for an idea of what the shop is like!

There is quite a bit of parking out back as well. The shop was pretty small, but filled with all different types of crystals. Each one had a label with the name of the crystal. She had a lot of larger pieces that I am interested in, and I was able to purchase some. She also has some cathedral pieces that were absolutely beautiful. She even had some really amazing pieces in another section, but they were not for sale. They were so beautiful to look at though, and I was impressed with them. The reason this place is a 5 star can be due to a bit of bias on my end considering I absolutely love penguins. I have had such difficulty locating penguin crystals anywhere. I only found one other shop that had a tiny malachite figurine for $30. I found a larger penguin in a glass case. It was an Onyx penguin standing on top of Pyrite. I also found a tiny penguin figurine made of jasper. I can not recall the exact price but I believe it was somewhere between $4-6 for it. This is a typical price considering I usually pay $6 for mine elsewhere. Every other shop insisted that penguin spirit animal figurines did not exist, and I found a lot online. I was happy that she had two penguins, and I got them for such a great deal. I will definetely be back in the future.

You write down all of your favorites and then narrow it down your list to the top 4 scents you think smell best together to create your own signature candle. You can also make a reed defuser, room spray, or soap as an alternative option. Before pouring the wax and mixing your scents, you choose from their selection of jars, ranging in price around $40-60. After creating your candle and naming your scent, it takes around 90-120 minutes for it set. I think the experience could be elevated with a few things: An option to customize your candle with glitter, color of wick, color of wax, ability to select a cute label with your scent's name or create one, even a label maker would do the trick. They have some cute vessels, but I would love to see more variety in different styles, colors, and sizes. I asked the owner, Marleen what ingredients were in the fragrance oils and she couldn't really give me a complete answer other than they are not 100% essential oils but they're synthetic and safe because they don't buy them from overseas. hmmm.... With that said, I'm sure they contain toxins like phthalates and ethyl methoxycinnamates. Reputable brands of oils will clearly label their products and disclose all the components. I try to use scents, body care, and household cleaners free from toxins so this is a little concerning not knowing what chemicals are in the candle. I'm sensitive to irritants which aggravate my asthma and also give me headaches. I just wish i knew for sure what was in this magical potion of oils we mixed. Overall, I had a fun time and made some great memories. It's a unique activity for a date night or group outing with friends that all ages can enjoy.
