I've visited a few times for tall candles. To me, it's novelty but other people take these candles…read moreso seriously... going so far as having them "blessed" by certain staff members. You'll find candles for almost any ailment, predicament or situation. Baby mama drama, legal trouble, help winning the lottery, etc. Some of them are printed on the jar but other signs are taped onto the jar (a little low-rent for my tastes). Room for improvement includes pricing all the candles. I picked one up without a price tag and it was $8 when I got to the register, when I saw many others priced around $6 or $7. It was a gift for a friend so not a big deal. Discount Candles is a really fun shop whether you believe the hullabaloo or not. They offer a wide variety of candles, incense and oils to choose from, and they've got a large (free!) parking lot to the right of the store for your convenience. Check the photos I uploaded for an idea of what the shop is like!

This was such a fun experience!! Good for groups and date night!…read more Checking in was a breeze and they got us set up quickly. They give you a card to write down your top scents. We started by smelling several scents, they have 90 scents to smell - I skipped some that weren't appealing like bacon and old books LOL Be sure to grab you a bag of coffee beans to cleanse your scent palette. I don't want to spoil the process so I won't tell you everything! So just go ahead and make a reservation, the fee goes towards your reservation at the end. I'm going to wait 2 weeks before light my custom candle so that I get the best scent payout. It's worth the money. You can make a candle, room diffuser, and/or room spray. I'll be back to make a diffuser.

This was such a fun experience! You write down all of your favorites and then narrow it down your list to the top 4 scents you think smell best together to create your own signature candle. You can also make a reed defuser, room spray, or soap as an alternative option. Before pouring the wax and mixing your scents, you choose from their selection of jars, ranging in price around $40-60. After creating your candle and naming your scent, it takes around 90-120 minutes for it set. I think the experience could be elevated with a few things: An option to customize your candle with glitter, color of wick, color of wax, ability to select a cute label with your scent's name or create one, even a label maker would do the trick. They have some cute vessels, but I would love to see more variety in different styles, colors, and sizes. I asked the owner, Marleen what ingredients were in the fragrance oils and she couldn't really give me a complete answer other than they are not 100% essential oils but they're synthetic and safe because they don't buy them from overseas. hmmm.... With that said, I'm sure they contain toxins like phthalates and ethyl methoxycinnamates. Reputable brands of oils will clearly label their products and disclose all the components. I try to use scents, body care, and household cleaners free from toxins so this is a little concerning not knowing what chemicals are in the candle. I'm sensitive to irritants which aggravate my asthma and also give me headaches. I just wish i knew for sure what was in this magical potion of oils we mixed. Overall, I had a fun time and made some great memories. It's a unique activity for a date night or group outing with friends that all ages can enjoy.

They don't have to buy anything and so you better kiss their behinds. Even if they don't want anything they might feel bad for you because you were so nice. 2) The prices need to be low enough to justify buying something useless. 3) You have to gave good stuff that people want, though they don't need. Also, it helps to have things that one has never seen before and thus must purchase it because they may never see it again. Well, Scout is a nice enough store. The store sells kitch, curios and art. The inside is nice and bright. There are some interesting items, but nothing that I can't live without. Also, I've seen a lot of the same items around the area. The prices were probably comparable but were still pricey. I don't think there was anything for less than $10 or I didn't find it. I give Scout 3 stars because the lady behind the counter was not very friendly or helpful. When I walked into the store she didn't acknowledge me right away or ask if I needed anything. Instead she just talked to a friend for almost the whole 15 minutes we were in there. I was the first to say hello as I entered. Eventually, she engaged us in conversation a little, but it wasn't the friendliest of conversations. Scout had some unique gift ideas and art pieces. Over all the quality stuff was very expensive. The rest could probably be purchased at other stores of a similar nature. I don't really have a reason to go back here.

They have one storefront that is right up against the windows looking out and then one storefront that's in the interior of the market and mainly only gets artificial lighting. Both are full of plants to the brim, but this is a super helpful way to shop for plants! Which environment does your space / wherever you're going to put these plants better replicate? Natural daylight or artificial light? Whichever is the answer, you start with shopping at that storefront. It's so fun and innovative. The Plant House also doesn't pull any punches. They have great stock of all kinds of plants, although in my experience with a lot of the local plant shops around the area, I would say their plant stock & plant accessories (pots, etc.) are relatively standard. But, that could also be because they are located in such a busy market, and the more unique plants probably sell out way quicker than the more traditional houseplants. What I feel like sets them further apart from other local plant shops is the fact that they offer unique eco-friendly products for your household as well. It's definitely a must-shop in Rust Belt Market, and I love that they have been in this space for as long as I can remember, when so many other vendors come & go.
