The donuts and pastries here were good, but could've been better. I visited this Cambodian donut shop with a friend around 10am on a Saturday and our experience here was relatively good. Going down the list of donuts/pastries we shared: -Creme Brûlée Donut: Nice brûlée shell and the custard was sweet and creamy. -Guava Cream Cheese Cronut: Loved the guava cream cheese frosting which wasn't too thick nor rich, but I wish the pastry itself was flakier. -Croissant Bomb with Jalapeno: Meaty and buttery. It's nice that they can warm it up for you. I felt like there was only sausage in here and there was a lack of ham and bacon. Not really worth almost $11 in my opinion. While the donuts/pastries were generally good, I felt like the donuts would've been better if we came and tried them at opening at 5am. That fresh element was missing and the donut quality tasted and felt like they were sitting out for a while. There's a good amount of free parking in the lot in front of the shop. Yeah this place is incredible! If you love sweet things then you definitely need to put this place on your list!! The coffee shop is cute and has a number of cronuts and donuts to choose from. They also have croissants and savory croissants- like ham and cheese. The number of different beautiful baked goods to choose from makes you want to just spend all your money in this place to try them all. The service we had was also 10/10. The person we had was so kind and helpful. She was patient answering all of our questions and giving suggestions. She even found out it was my first time there and gave us a free sample. We got 3 cronuts, a ham & cheese croissant, a black sesame Vietnamese coffee, and a regular Vietnamese coffee. Everything was insanely good. I will say Vietnamese coffee is typically strong and sweet. It's nice here because you can control your sweet level, they have a whole sliding scale so as to make your coffee just right. You need to get Knead in your life! Visited Long Beach and my brother took me to one of his favorite donut shops. The gentleman behind the counter was very friendly and generous! Along with the half dozen I ordered, he added more and filled my box. In addition, he gave me a free Vietnamese coffee, and I was able to try the various levels of sweetness before I chose, which was great! I chose the 50% sweet and felt it was nicely balanced. As for the donuts, what can I say? They are true gourmet donuts and so unique. My favorite donut was the Ube donut and least favorite was the Dubai donut. I thought I would like the Dubai the most but it didn't hit like I thought it would. The rest were amazing and the Kronuts were a true treat. Another thing I loved was that I went the week of Halloween and there were many festive donuts to match the theme. My Ube donuts had chocolate bats on them, and the gentleman told me they also have festive donuts for Christmas, including the Grinch!! The only reason I give this place less than a perfect score is because I think I've spent a grand total of eight minutes here in person. But don't get it twisted, Knead Donuts & Tea is worth all the hype. The parking lot is private but semi-limited. The decor on the inside and outside are vibrant and showcases the LB neighborhood. The staff is exceptionally kind hearted (we came near closing time and they gifted us with extra pastries after we bought a half dozen and some coffee from them). But what makes an eight minute experience exceptional is their reputation proceeds them. I've had their coffee and donuts a few times and every time it has been fantastic. The donut is crisp where the sugar glazes its surfaces, the flavors are strong and balance well with coffee, and the visuals be slaying all social media outlets. First time here worst customer service experience ever. I read through the reviews prior to writing my review to make sure that I wasn't just overreacting. The young lady behind the counter, the young Vietnamese lady is extremely nasty and rude. I simply asked what was inside of all the donuts and she had a nasty response for me as opposed that may be helping me select something, she told me that I could just leave if I didn't want them. Now I see why the store is empty and there's nobody in the parking lot. Black people beware you will not be served positively and welcomed here. There are so many other donut spots and bakery spots. Take your business elsewhere. as I looked around, I also noticed how dirty the place was so I ended up changing my mind on getting anything to eat anyway. tried out Knead Donuts & Tea after watching a YouTube video featuring it! as someone who went to undergrad in Lowell, MA, i felt it was my duty to support a Cambodian-owned business (if you didn't know, Lowell, Massachusetts has the highest Cambodian population in the US based on percent proportion!). for drinks, we got the Vietnamese Iced Coffees, one Regular with banana and one Black with half Kneaded (I think? which is basically just a very tiny amount of condensed milk). we also got a guava cream cheese donut. the banana vietnamese iced coffee was delicious and definitely kept me awake for a while! it had a nice amount of banana flavor. I've heard about this before but never got the chance to try it until this week. I'm not a huge fan of donuts so I don't go out of my way to search for it. But a few days ago, after my pcp appt I was driving by on my way to my next appointment I popped in to get something sweet. The display was kinda disappointing. The inside looked like every other donut shop. Food was just behind a clear glass window without additional covering. When I saw the prices on the price tag, I thought I was mistaken. Each donut was $5+. That's ridiculous. These donuts are unique compared to others of course but don't justify the price. I looked at their drink choices; boba teas are also $6+. Knead is a "gourmet donut" shop located on 7th street and Redondo in Long Beach and they have been expanding in the area with a location in Cerritos and an upcoming location by Costco on Willow. I visited at 7am (before work) and they didn't have their creme brulee donut at this time. I typically see it in the afternoon and I'd recommend it. The contrast between the custard and the freshly bruleed sugar shell is nice. If you see it, then I think you should try it and eat it within the hour. If you hold it too long, then the sugar shell melts away. Today, I got their Cinnamon Roll donut, their Blueberry Cake donut, and a Thai Tea. Their Thai Tea ($6) was very good as it was strong and nicely balanced with half and half. Many places don't have the perfect balance that Knead has with their Thai Tea and I appreciate it. Their Blueberry Cake Donut ($4) was filling, it had blueberries in the cake, blended into the frosting, and there were whole blueberries on top, which were a nice touch. Their Cinnamon Roll ($4) was basically a cinnamon glazed donut. The reason I come once a year or once every other year is because their donuts range from $4 to $7. I sometimes get texts from FiveStars which makes "special" offers on a dozen donuts for $50, which just reinforces my distaste for the cost. While I like the donuts and appreciate the different flavors that they bring to the table, I know that I can get a dozen amazing donuts down the street for $17. I also cannot say that I'd prefer spending $7 for a doughnut rather than a more premium pastry with fresh fruit and laminated dough. I'd consider coming to Knead more regularly if they did one of three things: (1) if they offered some premium doughnuts that were freshly prepared and "still warm" at specific times of day. (2) if their standard/classic doughnuts (chocolate, glazed, cinnamon roll, old fashioned, bear claw) had pricing that was closer to other places as it would allow me to perceive better value, and I'd buy more volume of standard AND premium donuts. (3) If they rotated innovative flavors that I couldn't find elsewhere. Nevertheless, as I stated above - I do think that there are exceptional things here and I do visit intermittently. Came to Knead because I saw they had a blueberry donut. I ended up getting 2 blueberry donuts, 1 ube cronut, and a maple bacon donut. Since I went about an hour before closing, the donuts didn't look as fresh as they probably do in the morning. My friend and I tried the ube cronut first, and it was so good! The blueberry was decent- not my favorite, but still good. The lady also gave me a free iced coffee, which was a nice surprise and really good too. Ube Cronut This donut light and slightly sweet with a nice chew light frosting not too sweet with a swirl of Ube buttercream delicious and creamy there is a small dollop of a coconut custard style filling on top that brings together all the flavors a Cronut is a tad dry but still an 7/10 German Chocolate Donut A cronut not too sweet covered with a thin layer of dark chocolate topped with a light chocolate buttercream and a dollop of thick coconut pecan frosting sprinkled with toasted coconut This one is good but I feel the cronut needs some sweetness the coconut pecan frosting is yummy saving this donut from a lower score. 6/10 for the cronut portion 7/10 for the cronut with buttercream and a dollop of coconut pecan frosting. $6 Maple Bacon This donut is lightly sweet with a nice chew light frosting topped with bacon the bacon could be better if they used more of it and eliminated the tiny pieces of fat usually this isn't a problem but the tiny pieces bacon with fat attached tasted weird. The bacon and the maple glaze paired together brought the salty sweet taste I expected. 7/10 $6 Holiday Maple Bacon (2) Maple Bacon with a tiny pancake and maple syrup container on top this one is a top tier interesting work of art it's cute and tasty with a nice chew the donut isn't too sweet the maple glaze is on point the bacon is good and this one has a lot. What makes it so special is squeezing that syrup on top it made this one a clear winner in taste with salty sweet deliciousness. 8/10 $7 each. Strawberry cheesecake Yeast donuts lightly sweet covered with a strawberry shortcake crumble and a light strawberry glaze. Topped with cream cheese cream a dollop of strawberry filling a a tiny bite of strawberry cheesecake this one has a bunch of flavors that work well together and I must say it really does taste like strawberry shortcake in donut form it's pretty good. 7/10 $7 each. My honest opinion I find that all of the donut bases are riding on the same theme they all taste exactly the same even the Cronut when they could have been made with separate tastes or a bit more sweetness in others. The good points are the quality of the ingredients used to make some of these donuts you can taste the freshness and they look good we taste with our eyes and these donuts hit that mark very well. Just know that these donuts are way too pricy in my opinion and will set you back appropriately $6-7 each, bringing the total price I paid for my order of 6 donuts & a small chocolate milk $43 way too pricey in my opinion. I don't think all of Kneads donuts are worth the price they're going for why because I've had some of the best donuts in California one that stands out is The Donnutery in Huntington Beach. Those donuts are worth every penny and knead doesn't compare they are pricy as well but the quality and what they offer vegan, gluten free etc is on another level. Chocolate milk. Was a bit too sweet for me I'll leave this for the kids I must have outgrown chocolate milk. I am sad I didn't know about this place sooner. We came here on our way down to Rosie's with the dogs. We also had my daughter and her two friends. I will admit that we usually go to Simone's and I still love Simone's but these donuts are amazing and they have Vietnamese coffee, which is a huge plus if you haven't been here, I would totally recommend trying it out!! we had a mix of donuts from cronuts to cake donuts to yeast and they were all very good. I drove past this Knead on my way to Torrance and the name instantly stuck with me--such a clever name for a donut shop! A quick Yelp search showed they have several locations so I decided to stop by this one the very next morning. I'm not even a donut person. Omigoodness. The creativity and beauty of these gourmet donuts were impressive. I originally planned to just get a donut and a coffee--but ended up walking out with a dozen donuts and a large iced coffee. Safe to say I spent a pretty penny, but so worth it. I shared them with my office mates, and every single one of us loved them. The blueberry was my favorite--super blueberry flavor and perfectly balanced. Not overly sweet. And the iced coffee? Strong just the way I like it. The donuts are delicious, full of different flavors and are beautifully decorated. The Vietnamese coffee is on point as well, but my favorite item to order is the croissant, egg, bacon and cheese sandwich! The croissant meal is larger than most places and I love that you can choose whether or not you would like the egg runny, and do I love it runny lol This location is perfect, you don't need to worry about parking, they have a parking lot and service is quick.
