Dealing with The Benchmark and Doc Henry was without a doubt the worst experience of our entire remodel. The window manufacturer, Reynears, was equally disastrous. Doc did not know his product at all, and our entire window system had to be re-engineered and re-installed. The Benchmark and Reynears led us on, stone-walled, and eventually refused to respond to our inquiries. Two years down the road, while we lived with defective windows and doors that could not be properly opened or closed, replacement hardware (aesthetically not at all what we had ordered) finally arrived. We still have pieces missing, and Doc has gone AWOL. If we had had the energy to take The Benchmark to court, we would have. Not only did we live in a house that could not be secured, the untold stress inflicted on us was unforgivable. As Eugene L said, remodeling is hard enough already. Spare yourself, and find a window and door company that has scruples and actually cares about the quality of its product and honest customer service.

Doc was patient and very helpful choosing the right colors to compliment my house and they are now the jewels that make it shine. Because retrofits in old homes can create the need for tweaks as the years go by, I have always been able to count on Doc of Benchmark Windows to be there for me. He is a person of utmost integrity who stands by his products and makes sure all issues are addressed promptly. This is very important to me. I have been building and remodeling homes for the last 20 years and having a reliable, competent company for Windows and doors is of critical! So many vendors do not stand behind their products and once you have a problem and they don't want to be responsible? Well, then you have REAL problems. Doc has helped me out even when it wasn't his responsibility because that's the kind of person he is: helpful, courteous, knowledgable, professional and full of integrity. And his products are of exceptional quality. I cannot recommend Benchmark Windows highly enough!

Two contractors looked at it and immediately identified it as drilling stress. Instead of even considering that possibility, I was told repeatedly that it "can only be water damage." The door is dry. It has never been exposed to significant moisture. But there was zero willingness to discuss that. What was most frustrating wasn't the mistake, it was the refusal to take any responsibility or work toward a fair solution. We live less than half a mile away and were actively purchasing additional doors that same day. Rather than try to make it right, the conversation became defensive and rigid. As a customer, you want to feel like a business stands behind its work. That didn't happen here. I've decided to take my business elsewhere.

Two separate contractors looked at it and immediately said the drill bit lifted the wood fibers and caused the split. Not water. Not "moisture bubbling." Mechanical stress from drilling. The door is bone dry. We live 0.4 miles away. It was transported covered. There has been zero exposure to the kind of water that would cause structural separation. You'd need a flood, not a short drive home. And at the very least, the door would have still been wet. These pictures were taken less than 20 minutes from when the door was picked up. Rather than take responsibility, we were told it "can only be water" and offered to have it "steamed." Steam. For a drilling split. We were actively purchasing three additional doors the same day. Those have now been canceled. We've found another supplier who understands how doors, and accountability, work. Mistakes happen. Refusing to own them is the real issue.

They took my kitchen project ideas and created spaces far above what I could ever imagine. I looked forward to meeting with them and watching my little kitchen space evolve before my eyes. I received so much attention it felt like I was their only client. Unlike my contractor, Guido, and Victoria were always available to me. Always. Guido is an experienced, creative designer with excellent taste who thinks outside the box. He went with me to pick my stone and backslash even offering to drive me to the Bay area for more choices. Victoria did all the 3D plans in order that my non-3 demential brain could see exactly what the space would look like, as well as the plans to submit for a permit. Guido and Victoria helped me pick and buy appliances, which is not easy these days. Every detail was handled including buying hardware. They even purchased for me so I got discounts. They created a three-ring binder that was a godsend for the contractor. They were my support system and I will never forget that without them, my gorgeous kitchen would never have happened. Grazie mille!

He has an eye for all the details that are essential in creating a warm and inviting space. I have finally learned after all these years that a kitchen designer is well worth every penny for a remodel or new construction. He held my hand ( and my heart ) throughout the whole process. Thank you Guido! Cindy/Carmel, Ca.
