We ordered our kitchen cabinets from Cypress after working with Fred. When they arrived, we realized the interiors were white melamine rather than the natural maple color we ordered. After trying to gaslight me by saying that white interiors are standard for white cabinets and "that is what I had liked", I pointed out that the signed contract clearly stated that the interiors were supposed to be maple. Cypress finally did admit they made an error and reordered the cabinets, but it took another 3 months or more for them to arrive, which totally screwed up our home remodel timeline. Once the new cabinets arrived, we discovered 2 of them were damaged and had to be remade a second time, again delaying our project. Really the worst part of this terrible experience was that although Cypress did pay for the dismantling of the wrong cabinets and the reinstall of the correct ones by our builder, they denied that their error caused us any delay or inconvenience and refused to even consider our very reasonable request for a 15% discount on the cabinets. They also repeatedly did not return my or my builder's calls during this whole debacle. I would NEVER recommend using them. read more

Yes, the showroom is attractive and selection is good. Casey's design wasn't bad, as far as it went. Otherwise, our experience with Cypress was so bad, we wish we had sued them. Disorganized: Cypress Cabinets is completely understaffed. In over 30 business days (excluding weekends), someone worked at our house on 13 days. Two people they sent worked for a couple days, then Cypress fired them for incompetence. All their work had to be redone. Three days went to figuring out what electrical work needed to be done (the plans drawn up by the in-house designer didn't indicate such essential details) and redoing electrical work that was done incorrectly. One of the workers admitted they were all expected to work multiple projects for the company at once. Poor communication: On multiple occasions, we were given no notice that no one would be working. Mixed messages abounded: The project manager was AWOL, the site managers cross-communicated, and no one thought to talk with us. Had we not begun to check in regularly, the project simply wouldn't have gotten finished. At one point, the site manager told us that the countertops would be ready in 4-5 days. When we hadn't heard a word on day 5, we called and were told that it would be an additional 8 days. This kind of thing happened over and over. Ridiculous overcharges: My son gave the designer a very clear budget. The final amount was more than three times that. One example: Somehow, it never occurred to the designer, project manager, or site manager that moving the island would require a change in the flooring. The flooring guy checked out the site and gave us a verbal quote of $1500 for three days labor. BTW, we supplied the flooring. The next day, the written quote outlined exactly what we were told verbally, but with a cost of $1850. We complained and they knocked it down to $1650. When the work was finally done, it took two guys a half day to do. Of course, we were told the price is the price. After a good deal of pushback on our part, they cut it to $1100. Now for the ugly part. The entire kitchen renovation was paid for by my adult son. He was an active duty nuclear engineer on a Navy submarine when he was disabled in a car accident. As a significant point in his recovery, he wanted to make the kitchen accessible. Near the end of our project, the project manager showed up at our house for the first time since the renovation began. The issue that brought him there was that once again, communication had been horrendous. At one point, my son and I started to ask a question at the same time. As if dealing with recalcitrant children, the project manager held up his finger to silence me, then leaned down to my son and said to him, as if he were five, "Now, what is your problem?" Yeah. So. Let's just say that neither of us handled that well. You do not talk to my 25-year-old, brilliant son as if he's a whiny five-year-old. Some stereotypes about sailors, like their swearing vocabulary, are true. My son proved that in his answer to the project manager, who stomped out of the house saying he was going to pull his crew off the job. That afternoon, my son, with his caregiver next to him, spoke on the phone with the owner of Cypress Cabinets for the first time. He expressed his displeasure using considerably more measured word choices. He reiterated that the purpose of the renovation was to make the kitchen accessible. The owner declared that he had "never heard anything about it being accessible." Then he told my son that he expected the final payment by the following day. Don't worry about the fact that the finishing touches haven't been done, the owner said. They would be seen to. The next day, my husband and I went over to Cypress Cabinets. The owner happened to be on the floor. First, he denied asking for the payment. He denied telling my son that he wasn't aware that the kitchen needed to be accessible. In fact, it became very clear as we spoke, given that he couldn't pronounce the word "accessible" and that he said it "had different meanings in different contexts," that he had no idea whatsoever who his client was, a quadriplegic in a wheelchair. He repeatedly claimed that in 30 years of being in business, no one had ever complained about his work. Then came the true kick in the gut. "You know," the owner said to my husband and me, "your son has a problem with the truth." What kind of business owner responds to a customer's concerns by saying that the paying customer is a liar? In the three months since the project was finished, Cypress has not managed to take care of a non-functioning cabinet door, in spite of trying three times to figure out what hinge it needs. Just ordered kitchen cabinets from Cypress Cabinets after having a negative experience with another vendor. Casey was helpful, patient, and always informative. He never pushed anything and would answer all my questions thoroughly. He would provide different options and allow me to make the decisions as to what I wanted. I have dropped by to ask other questions that would come up and he always stopped and took the time to answer and explain. He was punctual with all meetings, provided the proposal in a timely manner. Very happy with the support and help in organizing this project. Cabinets will be arriving shortly. I will write again on the delivery and the quality of the cabinets then. I was so surprised at how much less they were than big box stores I got estimates at. My cabinets and countertops are beautiful. They moved a wall and did all of the construction as well. I also purchased backsplash through them and their tile guy Sergio I think did great. Everything went as well as I could have asked, Fred was great worked hard to get me discount from manufacturer Richard and Bill always followed up and completed everything on schedule. Walk in and make suggestion to put a note on the other door to be helpful as we almost drove away. Heavy set woman at desk looked at us with a shrug. This is a review for Matt Gersonde. He was a huge pleasure to work with. Incredibly responsive and he handled a sticky situation with grace and complete transparency. I've only given 4 stars because ultimately we were very unhappy that our order - promised to us in 5 weeks - ended up taking 8 weeks and we were never informed of this until we checked into the progress of our order. It was very disheartening as we had timed the delivery and subsequent contractor work with the start of our kids' school year. Our kitchen remodel went from being done 1 week after school started to being done a month after school started which created a hardship for us. But, given how upset we were, I can tell you that Matt never hid from our upset...he took every call, returned every call and kept us in the loop of the progress of figuring out how our order went awry. Since then, we have inquired on other products and Matt has been on the ball and responsive and clear in all of his responses. We were so impressed with him, we ordered more product through Cypress (counter tops) when we could have ordered it elsewhere. We will continue to do business with Cypress as a result. This is a great company and a family owned business. We worked with Casey and he is extremely knowledgeable and patient. He basically put up with my wife and I for months and spent countless hours with us as we mulled over options, made changes, took samples, scheduled follow up appointments, asked for pricing options and differences, etc. We ended up ordering an entire kitchen worth of cabinets and an island. One of the cabinets even came in the wrong size do to a measuring error and he replaced it at no cost and ordered it on expedited basis. He knows what is going on with your job and is on top of it. This is true personal service. You will never get this kind of service from big box aka Home Depot. What is even better about Cypress, is that their pricing is the best I found on the peninsula. I am an absolute bargain hunter/Craig's List obsessed maniac. I will go to any length to get a deal. This even includes driving to San Jose. Their pricing was better than the online companies that sell you cabinets that you assemble yourself (Ellie Mae or whatever it's called) and every other cabinet seller I checked with on the peninsula and in San Jose. This includes Home Depot. Prior to visiting Cypress, I was told by friends in construction that Mill Direct had the best pricing. I met with the owner of Mill Direct in her apartment/showroom she told me that no one could beat her pricing because she has no overhead. The quote she gave me for the same kitchen job was over $2,000.00 more than Cypress. This is even with cabinets that were lower end than what I got from Cypress, with a less detailed door option and also made in China. The cabinets I got from Cypress were less, made in America and of better quality. There is no fear of toxins leaching into your food with the American products that Cypress sells. We followed up with a guest bathroom vanity order because we were so satisfied and are also going to order our master bath vanity from Cypress when we redo that room. One thing I would tell people about the cabinets we received from Cypress is that we actually thought the Kemper cabinets we ordered were of better quality than the Omega cabinets that the kitchen island was made of. This is despite the Kemper cabinets being the cheaper of the two. If I was doing it again, I would stick to Kemper because they were well built and less money. After dealing with Cypress and Casey, I consider him a friend. I have seen him out a few times and I always catch up with him. He is good people. We've been doing business with Cypress Cabinets for several years now. Casey has designed five kitchens for us as well as provided the cabinets for numerous bathrooms. In the case of rentals, he's provided a good balance between cost and quality. Even after several years and several tenants, the cabinets still look like new. Getting cheap cabinets at the big box stores is not worth it - you spend more money installing/uninstalling, so you're better off putting in good cabinets in the first place. And, they're not that much more expensive than the big box stores for the cabinets themselves (and i am a notorious price researcher). Casey has a great eye for design and has made numerous good suggestions for a pleasing layout, as well as functional options. (I just saw one of their in-store displays today and intuitively, it was pleasing to the eye ......It looked awesome, but I couldn't understand why until we talked about how he chose the hardware and the placement and suddenly it all made sense. It's not quite as simple as you'd think unless it's a basic galley kitchen.) He's now working on our whole house - kitchens, bathrooms, plus storage just about everywhere else (closets, living room, etc). And, he's worked hard to make sure we are getting a good price. He cares about his customers and it shows. Bottom line - great design and great customer support from Casey; they use good quality cabinets and monitor the manufacturing and delivery and communicate the timeline with the customer so we can be prepared for installation. What an amazing experience!! I was hesitant when we started looking into remodeling (kitchen and bathroom) as I had heard many horror stories and warnings from friends, family, and coworkers. I like the showroom as they had a large selection of cabinet doors and samples of countertops. I had an appointment to meet with the kitchen designer. He was completely distracted during our appointment and didn't take the time to focus on my project. I was told that he would come up with a creative design only to find that he did not sway from my own design hardly at all and just gave me a bid without finding solutions for the issues that I had in my kitchen. I was also told that I would get a bid for the countertops that I picked and there was no bid done. No follow up weeks later. Total disappointment. read more

Casey and Matt were awesome. Casey designed a very fashionable laundry closet in my hall near the kitchen. It actually looks like a butler's pantry and can double as a serving area for parties. You would never think that the armoire appearance with marble counter actually hides my oversized washer and dryer. Avoid at all cost. Designed my custom kitchen, ordered the cabinets BEFORE appliance specs were provided. Then, blamed me (the customer) for not ordering the right appliances to fit their cabinets. Claimed they spec'd standard sizes for microwave, subzero's, etc. Standard sizes? Installed wrong valance, wrong filler panels had to reorder. Failed to return calls or emails. Pointed blame at me, I had to pay for a new microwave cabinet as they threatened a lien if I didn't pay them balance first. Told me to look at the big picture. This comment IS the big picture.
