Value: I have yet to find an over-priced book (or cd). Selection: this is a 'medium sized indy store, catering to more serious readers.' The selection meets that standard, especially for classics, poetry, and southwestern books. Service: in my 4 visits, the hands on owner Leo has quietly been at the ready for my inquiries. While I did find a few wonderful items that I love, I was deeply disappointed by the customer service. The staff members were whispering and staring, did not greet anyone entering, and felt completely unwelcoming--even during checkout. This cold energy is very unexpected for a spiritual environment and for Santa Fe in general. In fact, I felt the need to thoroughly cleanse the energy from my items before bringing them home. This shop has the potential to be an uplifting, beautiful space, but the staff definitely needs to improve their customer service.

It can be difficult to find books for an eccentric like me, as I am always in the search for works in philosophy, religion, history, etc. Their selection is generous in choices in these categories as well as others, and I have already found 2 books I need for graduate school (and under $15 a piece!). My gal didn't know it, but I was having trouble finding a hard cover of the first book of the "Game of Thrones" series. I figured if anyone had it, Beastly would. We arrived direct from driving up from Albuquerque. We found the place easily enough, and walked in to a wonderful smell of coffee. The fella at teh register also made all kinds of concoctions. We had to get a cup after that, and it was excellent coffee. It's a brightly lit spot which was great. Along with the coffee aroma it also had some pine like smells I imagine from the woodwork of the shelves. That or the side room they had a spot they were doing some construction on what looked like an expansion. And of course they had plenty of hardcovers, so with a bit of subterfuge my daughter got the book so we could give it to my wife. It worked out great. Next time back we will have to check out his bar next door, as it was closed at the hour we were in town.
