What a fun idea for a bookstore- all travel related! I was excited to find out about its existence. I like the local bookstore feel of the place and building it's in. It's great that you can custom print big maps, or buy folded maps of all different areas and trail networks. Downsides - the selection was really lacking for many parts of the world, including South America. I'd like to see a wide variety of books and goods, including more eclectic fun things related to travel- stickers, funky supplies... And lower price points on at least some kinds of things. read more

Nice combination of a cafe/bar and travelers store. Pretty good cheap tap beer and nice service. Tiny bar but you can seat anywhere on tables spread around surrounded by books, clothes, backpacks/suitcases, travel guides, maps, and all sorts of travelers gadgets. It was a good refreshing spot to take a break from sightseeing and expensive lengthy restaurant waits. It is also very well located: quite close to one end of Canyon road and only blocks from the main town square and activities. read more

Wonderful store with all the maps and books that you need for Santa Fe or anywhere in the world. They also have locking purses which are great for traveling in pickpocket areas of the world. The owner is very informative and helpful. There is a coffee shop inside too with a brewery coming. read more

I had a few hours before my flight to explore the beautiful city of Santa Fe. I was looking for a small coffee shop or something similar and found Travel Bug! The pictures online looked like this was a cute little bookstore type place. Upon entering, I saw a great selection of maps and travel books for all over the world. They also sold travel supplies, luggage, backpacks and more. There were also locals inside who seemed to have a great relationship with the staff which is always so nice to see. I ordered a chai tea latte and enjoyed my surroundings. I love visiting cute little shops whenever i'm out and traveling to new areas. read more

Travel Bug is a nice place to get your caffeine fix. They also sell travel books (one half of the store is a bookstore) and travel necessities (travel pillows and power adapters). We stopped by for mid afternoon coffee. We got Red Chile Mocha and two espressos. The Red Chile Mocha was rich smoky strong expresso. The service was excellent. Payment was quick via Square. No line. This place is cool but not in the literal sense. I walked in and the man behind the bar beered me right away. For a small nearly home brew set up it wasn't bad. They have maps for everywhere, books too! They don't have AC which if your from the area probably isn't a big deal but being from a cooler place it cut our stay short. It looks like they can print maps too but I'm not sure. read more

What a great idea, books, bags and language classes. A great hang out. But please learn how to make a good cup of English tea or a drink that is particular to each country. Research the correct cups, tea bags and seriously have 2% milk in house. I had to throw my tea away so not such a great travel bug when in need. read more

The only reason this kinda-hidden gem didn't get 5-stars is bc of the food... But lemme 'slain before y'alls heads 'splode First off, if you're a map junkie, this is YOUR HEAVEN! You will worship at the feet of the Map Gods and beg for more. Maps from all over the world. And get this... You can ~print your own~ maps to order! Damn straight! It's got comfortable-ish outdoor seating that's good for people watching. And comfy indoor spots; they even cover their tables in map! DUDE! They've got a SUPER friendly and accommodating staff. Lots of smiles and lots of genuine concern. You can tell they love working here My tea (English Breakfast) was tasty and hot; and they even had stevia (*hughug* thank you!) As for breakfast... The breakfast burrito was truly damn tasty, and flavorful, and bold with lovey red salsa (which is an awesome change from Utah, where so much of the food is God-awful bland); however, it came out to me cold, which told me it wasn't made-to-order. Which is fine bc you could tell it was homemade (awesome addition of rosemary, but should be minced much more finely), but after returning it to be warmed up (sadly using a microwave), the potatoes were still rather undercooked and the tortilla became hard and gross (bc of microwave). If I had anything to suggest, it would to have the individual ingredients available and make-to-order (but they had a super tiny kitchen, so maybe just not possible, space-wise) Anyway, I'm most definitely coming back to this darling shop. read more

As a nomad global traveler I loved this store. From just travel books to language books to guide books this store has it all. Along with awesome coffee. Also, I liked the selection of travel items you all had. I would suggest getting some of this ion decontamination wands for people traveling to areas where the water is not potable versus just the tablets you throw in the water. I make my reviews after I visit the place. I don't like Yelp, they hold small businesses in this "pay to play" business model. Consumers make sure you read the reviews throughly and don't trust just a negative review on a business page since they filter the reviews. I loved this store and I will be coming back and recommending this place to my family and friends. read more

Loved visiting this local shop for travel books, maps, gear and fun things I didn't know I needed. We will have to call ahead next time we're planning to go by as today they were hosting a photography sideshow of a recent photographer's trip to Cuba today so it was just unfortunate timing for us to go as we wanted to see the books but the place was packed out with people. But we shall return and plan to get some coffee as it smelled wonderful! read more

The Travel bug was around the corner from our hotel and we stopped in for a cup of coffee after walking gallery row all morning. The place is mostly a travel book store, full of heart and fun from their friendly staff, and they have coffee and snacks! What more could you ask for!? After grabbing a coffee and pastry, we sat down at one of their handful of tables and ended up sitting through a talk on traveling through Europe. You might think I am exaggerating when I speak about a coffee shop this way, but this coffee shop transcends a place to have a drip cup and do some work. No, this place has hundreds of books from all parts of the world, topo maps as table tops and, adventure pouring out of every seam. That is, if you can suspend your judgment of the coffee. The coffee is ok. It's not bad, but it's more hot water than coffee and it comes through. That doesn't matter though. The guy behind the counter was so friendly and helpful and the shop was so enchanting, if I were ever traveling down to Santa Fe again, I would stop in. It was difficult to find this place and even more challenging finding my way out of Santa Fe. There is ample parking in the back of the building. This is a plus for downtown Santa Fe. The aroma of brewed coffee and herbs fill the air. A friendly South American man greeted me immediately. He was well versed in different languages .... I could tell he was well traveled. And he knew what his regulars wanted before they placed an order. As I walked towards the back of the shop, it brought back memories of my travels around the world. It reminded me of an eatery in the Himalayans where weary travelers stop to rest and share their adventures with strangers. The name fits the emotions you get looking through the shelves of travel books and gadgets. Tons of resources for traveling. I had 10 minutes to get chai tea but ended up staying an hour and was late for a meeting. Totally worth it. I'll be back! read more

I'm not a huge coffee person so while I had some I can't say if it was better or worse than other places...I can say it tasted like most other coffees I've had. The service was fast and friendly although I do feel the store was a bit cramped and hard to navigate even with only 4 or so customers. Came in for the Mexican mocha and it did not disappoint! It was a little expensive for the amount that it was. I tried the red chile mocha as well and while it was a little too spicy for my taste it was still pretty good. This is a great travel shop. They are stocked with awesome travel guides and maps. The room is open with large tables- perfect for sitting back and perusing a map or a guide book. I needed help with custom maps. Waited for 20 minutes for the single employee on the floor to get a break in her food and drink orders so she could help me. That never happened. Not her fault, but the owner might want to consider employing more than one person during busy lunchtimes during the summer months. Lost out on a significant sale of non-food items as a result. I've had very slow service here before but never this bad. Walked out without ever getting the chance to make a purchase. read more

All of the travel items and maps - 5 stars. Coffee - Wish I could give it 0 stars! Their espresso tastes stale and terrible. The baristas have no idea how to make foam for cappuccinos and lattes, and I get something that looks like soap bubbles on top of my lattes. I have to ask them for the kid's temperature because they scald the milk Every. Single. Time. Then the kid's temperature still burns my tongue. I've even brought a latte back to show them the scalding, and the barista argued with me! I wanted to throw it at him (but then he would have had to be treated for burns.) Thank goodness I moved and this is no longer the closest "coffee shop" to my house. Food - Agree with previous posters that it's overpriced and lousy. read more

This is the worst coffee shop in Santa Fe. I went everyday for a few weeks and was treated horribly. You will go in a be ignored, have a terrible tasting coffee that they don't pour fresh milk for, and deal with a barista with stains on their shirt frowning at you. They use a square system, and I had baristas tip them selves out 20% without prompting me. They microwave frozen bagels and have made sandwiches and burritos that are sub par and that say they have bacon in them (for an additional charge) and don't. Do not give this establishment your money, they don't deserve it. read more

They've got a ton of books/maps, even some on Santa Fe, if you're from out of town or just moved to town. I love this place! They have a large selection of travel guides, language guides, language classes and can make a pretty good latte to boot. I've always enjoyed the employees and if by chance they don't have something you are looking for, they order it immediately and call you as soon as it arrives. It's not the cheapest way to get travel guides these days with the internet and all, but I love to support local and this is my go to spot regardless! read more
