Whether you want garden decor, new foliage, updated planters, or options to bring the great outdoors in, you can pretty much find it here. The staff is also so friendly. They are attentive but not in your way. To see how they interact with the nature onsite, like sweet garden kitties allowed inside on hot days, further highlights the type of people attracted to Island Home.

When I walked in the store I took a few pictures with my phone and was immediately accosted by a woman who curtly told me they don't allow pictures because of local artist not wanting their stuff copied. (I get that). Then she promptly stomped off and sat down behind the counter. She was very rude and snotty when she said it. And most of the stuff isn't from local artists. Sadly for her our party left and spent a few hundred dollars at Largo Cargo down the road. Not going to spend money in a place where someone is just mean. I feel like there must be something wrong with her. I mean why would you have a business in which you treat people so awful? If you can't be nice to your customers then get out of the business. She gives Key Largo a bad name. Thankfully there are other places where people are nice. I would take your money elsewhere

A boutique and an upscale thrift and a gift shop rolled into one. Costs ranged from a few dollars to almost a thousand (artistic mail boxes). It is nice to have someone knowledgeable to help you find that unique treasure. She has a good Buyer's Eye, always has new goods and I would be surprised if you left without at least one or more! Probably more like us! I find her prices fair. She keeps me up on what's current and new! I'm happy certain purchases I'm helping out local artists, someone selling a family heirloom or an item of clothing. Jolene is also a very talented artist! She had the cutest stained glass snowman on a wood easel and she easily turned it into a nightlight for me with an LED bulb thrown in! It has a little bit of everything -- more jewelry and clothes and souvenirs than shells. How they can keep track of the inventory is daunting. Some of the prices are exceedingly high, but I guess it's cause it is a tourist area and they can get away with it. People on vacation are willing to pay more and the international tourists don't know any better. Yet, mixed in are some decent buys like the key lime juice and the Tortuga rum cakes and some cheapie bracelets. I walked the entire store -- it's about a block long with several check out counters. I got my exercise for the day. I'm not sure I'd recommend this place but you never know. You can certainly price check items to see how they stack up against other stores or you might just find the perfect souvenir of your trip.

Nearly everything on the menu relies on milk, cream, or cheese. I couldn't find a single non-dairy option, and the staff didn't have substitutions to offer. I know Key West locations nearby have dairy-free choices, so it's possible here too--just not on the menu or offered as an accommodation. That's a miss for an inclusive food business in 2026.
