The work was just so beautiful with perfect vibrant colors. I could tell they are loved by the locals as while I was there viewing, there was a couple that the owner's wife was speaking to and I could overhear that they were there to get another piece. This is the type of unique Florida artwork that I will want once I get the space for it because though it says Florida, it is just not like all the other typical painting or designs you see. And damn... I'll have to make another trip down to pick them out! :)

First thing is that, yes, there's a big sign on the street to enter but, you feel like you're going the wrong direction after you have to navigate through a resort gate and drive-through what appears to be there maintenance area before arriving at the discovery center. The building itself looks newer and is very large and there's plenty of parking. Upon entering, we had no idea what to expect because we couldn't find the cost of admission anywhere so we had to ask and make the determination if we wanted to go. For $15 per adult and six dollars per student we decided why not. The museum itself is set out nicely with the first floor, including a history of the Florida indigenous people, and then the development of the keys. These are lots of computer screens with interactive items but, they need to be locked because we accidentally got to the desktop and saw we went this first with a variety of windows open, various search items and even Roblox and other games open that kids were playing. There is also a small aquarium section with three tanks. Upstairs there is a small art gallery and a theater that plays a rotation of historical movies. We saw one about state parks (1/5) and one about the overseas highway (4/5). So kind of hit and miss there. If you are a history or museum buff or really interested in the keys then this might be worth a stop but, would not recommend for a family with kids as they will get bored easily.

Looking for something to do for my birthday but didn't want to drive down all the way to Key West,…read moreso decided to go to Islamorada. We called the shop and even though there wasn't a scheduled class, she set up a jewelry making class for us. We showed up a little before 3pm (classes are Monday-Saturday from 3-5pm), she was setting up the area. She walked us through basics of glass and then showed us how to set up our pieces. She only had a few drawings on the glass of fish and palm trees, so she went to do more, she very kindly did a heart and a turtle on request. It was fun, she was nice to talk to and the shop did have some beautiful pieces. The cost was $95 for the 4 pendants and the class which I felt was very reasonable. She also does other classes and I will definitely be going back to make the sun catcher. I do hope business picks up in the area, I see a lot of the mom and pop stores closed down and the chain stores come in. The keys are losing their charm with all the chains.
