2020 was a wild ride, & it looks like 2021 will come with its own challenges, BUT I am SO happy I…read moregot to start off the first day of this year with this meal. I will say this was a rare occurrence - eating in the restaurant (I was forced to go with the fam- let me hear it for my latinx peeps!) - but tbh, 1/1/21 started off cool & rainy & the meal made it *worth* it. There are not MANY people I know that truly enjoy tripe but I LOVE it & always have (cmon peopleee. let's get cultured ). If you want an authentic & healthy Latin American meal, this will do the trick. The soup packs a punch of full but soft flavors. I could have done with a LOT more tripe, though the beef bone was a PLUUUS. There are also a TONNNNN of veggies: cooked zucchini, corn, & big chucks of carrots & cabbage. Dish comes with rice on the side, as shown, & three corn tortillas. The zucchini & the carrots I could do without but I won't knock it for being healthy! Huge serving too, where I thought I wasnt gonna finish, but... I did. It comes with a lime on the side, which I don't usually to my ~sopas~ unless it's fish based, but it did the trick this time around.

If I could give 0 stars, I would. Service was terrible, and the place felt very unhygienic. While I…read morewas waiting, I saw an employee openly picking her nose. That honestly should have been my sign to leave. I still ordered a baleada, and it was extremely disappointing. It was so greasy it felt like oil had been poured all over it. I couldn't even get through two bites. Save your time and money. This restaurant is not worth it.

Visited from out-of-town and my husband was looking forward to trying out their Salvadorean…read morepupusas. The restaurant looks like a cozy hole-in-the-wall restaurant, so it was a very casual atmosphere. I ordered a Guatemalan-Style Chicken Tamal and a Chicken Pupusa with a Fruit Juice Drink (Ensalada de Fruta). The Fruit Juice Drink was full of cubed apples and was on the sweeter side, but it was refreshing for sure. Now onto the food... Guatemalan Chicken Tamal - This has to be one of the best tamals I have ever had! I am used to the Mexican tamales that are on the dryer side, but their tamal masa was gelatinous almost like a custard, and there were big pieces of chicken meat inside. And the plus side is that the chicken was 99% meat and 1% fat! They did not skimp on the meat in this one. Chicken Pupusa - I am used to greasy pupusas, but their pupusa was significantly less greasy, and that is a HUGE plus. Also, these pupusas were less than $5.00 each and came with a huge side of cabbage. The cheese-to-meat ratio inside was also pretty decent; I would say 60% cheese, 40% meat. My husband absolutely loved all the pupusas he ordered and even bought some to take home to our family. We were served by one of the owners who was very sweet and spoke to my husband in Spanish and me in English; this means a lot to me because in other places, I tend to be ignored while they speak Spanish to just my husband. When we are back in Virginia, this will be one of our go-to spots for Salvadorean food. We are used to pupusas being over $5, but these pupusas were less greasy AND much more affordable.

They also had a deli with different cheeses to order and a bar area. Note: if you don't speak Spanish you may need help with some of the menu items, but the employees we talked to were bilingual. I ordered the three pollo pupusa meal. It did take about 15 minutes to get the order, but I was ok with that because you can see them making them fresh as you wait. My one complaint is that the seated area was a little dirty. The table we were ate at pieces of food, kid hair ties and toys underneath the table. The trash cans also had a bunch of food caked to the outside of it. BUT, the food was really yummy, the pupusas came with a really good slaw and sauce, and the portion size was so big that I needed to take part of it home. Overall, I would recommend this place and would love to visit again to try other menu items.

The meat options were also greatly appreciated by my friends who joined me at the restaurant. Ask for the in-house spicy salsa if you like a kick of spice. Definitely recommend visiting this restaurant when you're in the area.

I wasn't feeling up to the big chains and places I wanted to try seemed to close early. Luckily this place was open and I had been wanting to try it for a while. Definitely it let a hidden gem! There are some parking spots right in front, although not many. There is a decent amount of seating, but it would be tight if you had a large party. My partner did note that the bathrooms weren't that great. You immediately get served complementary chips and salsa. They were pretty basic, but not bad. We ordered the following: + Papusas (Pork and Cheese & Loroco and Cheese) - Decent, although I prefer the Loroco (an edible flower bud). + Pollo à la Primavera (chicken dish) - Yummy, especially the sauce which mixes well with their hot/spicy sauce too! I could do without the salad dressing. + Camarones con Calabeza (shrimp dish) - Same as above! Note they leave the tails on. + Natural Juices (Mango and Maranon) - So refreshing! I loved the Maranon (cashew apple) was a wonderful burst of tropical sweetness with a subtle nutty taste. I appreciate that for the pupusas they had the foresight to provide my partner and I two plates so we could sphere the papusas. The portion sizes of the entrees were great for the price. It did take a while for the staff to swing by so that we could get boxes and the check. Note that credit cards and mobile pay are accepted. I definitely wouldn't mind coming back again to try more items on their menu.
