I offered up the sparkling wine to her and went for a can of Five Lamps beer which was a timid flat beer, unimpressed with it. The roll was your run of the mill hotdog roll warmed up. It contained plenty of lobster meat which was fairly smothered in dressing which while tasty masked much of the lobster loveliness. The lobster was fridge cold which was quite the contrary to the roll but maybe that's the way lobster rolls are served, it was my first experience. We would have walked past it if we had not planned to come eat here after reading the great yelp reviews. This restaurant is tiny but they offer great service and great seafood. The quality of the seafood is superb. They do not disappoint. The portions are small, but if you don't mind the cost, just order a variety and try all that they have to offer. We came here for light dishes during our visit, since we read that Irish seafoods were generally a must-have. We ordered the oyster sampler, which came with a combination of fresh (plainly shucked) and dressed (served with a variation of toppings; fresh salsa-like vegetables or lightly torched bacon or cheese with spinach). The oysters were very nice and fresh, that we felt having too many toppings and trimmings masked the natural flavours which could have been appreciated on its own. It's a generally good place, however, service was not the greatest. It took quite a while to get seated since they did not come over and even after getting seated it took a while for them to get our order and at the end to receive our check (we had to ask twice, for example). So perhaps, if you cared only for the food and have a lot of extra time and patience, and don't care for proper service, this place would be an easy four-star. If you like seafood you will love this place!!! A teeny little shack type place with a beachy vibe serving up fresh fish dishes packed with flavour. You could very easily walk by it but you definitely need to visit. We managed to get a table just inside the door. You can hear the musicians playing live music outside which is pretty nice. We ordered a bottle of white wine. I ordered the half pint of prawns and the lobster roll. They were €14 each. The prawns are served with some fried bread and brandy spiked Marie Rose sauce. The lobster roll was absolutely amazing. I liked the bread which I think was sort of fried. The sauce they put on the lobster is really tasty :-) The staff are lovely and very attentive. Fresh seafood done properly. I had the lobster roll, 3 various raw oysters and 3 various torched oysters. At 2 euros a pop the raw oysters are a great deal. They taste like they were pulled out of the sea hours ago. Very large and the toppings are well placed an not over done. I've never had torched oysters before. My varieties included cooked bacon and another cheese on top of the oyster all with a blow torch heated right in front of you. The hot shell made them a little awkward to eat but after a minute or two the temperature was great. The lobster roll was 14 euros and in my opinion a little over priced for the meager size. However the perfect taste and bread to lobster mixture ratio was great. I'd return! read more

It is a small small stall in the heart of temple bar with probably having about 15 seats around. They recommended me their famous 2 items which was the lobster roll and the seafood chowder, so I trusted them. The lobster roll: The bread itself was just a typical hot dog bun, buttered and pan fried at the sides for crispier texture. Rather underwhelming I must say. It lacked the typical buttery bread taste that compliments well with lobsters. There were rather large and succulent pieces of lobsters, but I felt their dressing was really weird. A whole bunch of parsley, chives and all sort of herbs forced into your palate, masking the sweetness of the lobsters itself. The portion of chips at the side with one thin slice of cucumber was really rather pathetic. But for €14, I would say, nice try I guess. Seafood chowder: it came in a small can tin which added a rustic look to it and also together with 3 pieces of garlic bread. The garlic bread was really though and lacked garlic taste to it. The seafood chowder itself was too watery for my liking. I expected a thick broth with the taste of the sea, but what I ended up with is a vegetable broth soup with lumps of fish meat inside. It cost €4.50 which I feel really wasn't up to standard. I'll be back here again to try their seafood selection/platters. read more

The menu is limited and expensive. There are cheaper places to find seafood in Dublin. We had the scallops with squid ink rigatoni. I was good, but only four scallops. I also had the seafood soup with mussels. It was bland and tasteless and not worth the prices. The restaurant is in the Temple Bar area. Loved, loved, LOVED the oysters here. We visited for dinner twice during a four day visit to Dublin. The first visit we tried a few different oysters, and I had the crab hot pot. The crab was sweet and delicious, and the oysters were phenomenal; just so fresh! We loved them so much that we came back for the oyster happy hour the next day, and ordered almost two dozen! The restaurant is very small (sort of like a galley or long hallway), so not great for large groups. It's also really casual (there isn't really any separation between the eating area and the kitchen--it actually got a little smokey sometimes). Like grocery store- nacho chips... and I got one piece of (pickled?) Cucumber. The nachos was really unevened seasoned, either too much seasoning on the chips or nothing at all. A seafood shack in Temple Bar, I like it. This place is the love child of Lobster Rock and like a child it's very small. If you are claustrophobic stay away. Or just sit outside like I did. The lobster roll is also small and at 14 quid is not cheap. The lobster itself was great but I'm undecided about the bread which I think was fried in butter. I feel like I have to test another one to make up my mind. The rest of the menu (prawns, crab, oysters) looked right up my street and the seafood platters all around had me drooling. The restaurant is very small... 4 tables and a bar area that is very uncomfortable. The food is very fresh and high quality. They go this bit right. However, the food was just okay and one particular dish was just not good. We had some oysters which were really good and well presented. We then tried the dressed oysters. They were over dressed and were heavy handed with the salt. It completely obliterated the taste of the oyster itself. The lobster roll was packed with lobster, but was bland. It really needed some backing of acidity or salt. By far the worst dish of the evening was the chowder. Absolutely flavorless. It was gritty and thick. No salt, or pepper or flavor. The parsley that was used to garnish the top was the most flavorful part of the dish. I recommend you come here for the oysters (undressed) and nothing more. The place is a nice trendy little place. Some of the food is okay and the rest just isn't good. Our waitress was okay, she was not helpful and her recommendations were nonexistent. Her only comment about how terrible the chowder was is, "I do not make the food". I would come here again, solely based on my ability to hear the chef ask his cook, "Are you tasting the chowder?" once my comments were sent to the kitchen area by our waitress. We were visiting here on our 15th anniversary (we came all the way across the pond to see the green of legends) and ended up at this magnificent hole in the wall. It only seats 10 people and that was fantastic. We love oysters and received a fine education on Irish and British oysters which have a much less sweet and more mineral taste than North American bivalves. We were very excited to try Klaw after reading all the rave reviews, but after traveling all around Ireland for 2 weeks, our meal here stands out in our memory as by far the biggest ripoff we experienced. We were prepared for the cramped seating area and no-frills service; I don't mind this as long as the food is good. The issue is how insanely overpriced it is COMBINED with poor execution. Oysters were good and at a normal price, although I did get a mouthful of shells in several of them. To cut costs, this restaurant employs very young women to run things. They are great and work very hard, but they should have someone with more experience to shuck oysters. What really stands out in our minds as highway robbery, though, were the "hot pot claws." These crab claws look good and come in a tasty sauce, but they were so overcooked that it was impossible to separate the strings of crabmeat from the shells. I gave up and left a lot of crabmeat uneaten, while my husband persevered and ended up with a mound of crab shells smashed to smithereens. To add insult to injury, Klaw is getting away with charging THIRTY-FIVE EUROS per plate for these claws. We ended up finding crab claws at other highly-rated restaurants for 17 to 21 euros and they were perfectly cooked AND already shelled. When you go to a seafood shack in New England, the point is to eat lobster and crab on a picnic table because it's insanely fresh and a great deal. Klaw promises that experience but is charging dumb tourists double the price for an almost inedible product. If you save your money and go to another, less overhyped seafood restaurant, you can sit at a comfortable table and eat tender crab claws on a real plate without feeling like you got scammed. read more

I was here a couple of years ago and I wasn't able to find international restaurants on the Yelp site then, but now here we are. Anyway, this place is a must. I can't remember everything I had because this was a while ago but I do remember that we ate here at least 3 times during my stay in Dublin. The oysters were the best and I remember there was some sort of bread they grilled that was amazing. I went back every day to try the natives but they were out every time I went in. I plan to be back in Ireland again and 100% plan to stop back through here. The place is very small though but it was very nice and the staff was excellent they were all very nice and friendly each time we went in. It was so worth it and honestly one of the best seafood places I've eaten at! Especially the oysters! I highly recommend this place if you're in Dublin. Great location too in the Temple Bar area. We went about 12pm and was lucky to get 2 seats easily on a Monday. They also have a happy hour. If we were in town longer we would have gone to that as well. And the Bloody Mary, is a MUST! Didn't think much of the open kitchen (was somewhat messy, but I am a bit OCD so that might be just me). There is not a lot of space so get ready to rub shoulders with neighbors. A small quaint little seafood place in Temple Bar, loved the wooden cabin-like walls decorated with big bulbs and lanterns. Had a voucher for Lobster roll (normally €14) plus a drink (glass of Picpoul white wine €7) all for €10!!! The lobster was nicely cooked and the sauce was lovely and savoury. The brioche bread was toasted and soft as a cloud. I thought the lobster mixed with the yuzu mayonnaise lacked seasoning but the pickled cucumber and crisps on the side made up for the needed saltiness. The roll was small, as long as my hand, so I'm not sure about paying the normal €14...but then again it is lobster!!! Come here for quality not quantity! We had the naked oysters sampler and our server gave us a detailed description of each one: which part of Ireland they came from, the distinct flavor or taste, how long in grew for or what it grew by.
