This is a nice little community event and it has a great turnout. I came by myself this past fall, but next year I'll bring my daughter with me since she loves pancakes.
It's held at the presbyterian church, which isn't a bad location. There's a large parking lot across the street to the east to hold plenty of pancake fans. It's also nice that their dining room is on the first floor--this church is very labyrinthine. I was seated with a group that seemed clearly to know one another, and later I realized was a group of Park Ridge police officers including the chief. He was nice, introducing himself and making small talk.
The Key Club members were here in force to serve beverages and stuff. I saw one member who I've seen at least three events, so it's cool that it's such an active club with dedicated members. The food was good and it was a nice cause to support. They also had a silent raffle, if I recall correctly, though I didn't participate.
They had an entertainer there who goes by the stage name Smarty Pants. He's a balloon artist and his creations were incredible. He was also a funny guy. He's great at what he does and might actually do it as his sole job, so you should follow on Instagram to see which library or event he's at. I left with a cute little balloon "doll" for my toddler and she loved it.
Unless something precludes me I'll be looking forward to next year's Kiwanis breakfast. And I'll hope to see you there! read more
