Had dinner here tonight for the first time. The atmosphere was really nice. I love the chairs at the center tables, really comfortable. The food was really tasty. We started with the crab rangoons, which was different from ones I have had, but really good. I wasn't really hungry so I ordered the fried oysters with the edamames (salty). The oysters were fried crispy with a little sweet and sour sauce. Hubby had the teriyaki chicken dish, which he enjoyed. Our DIL had the sushi which was beautifully arranged and she said it was delicious. It had a special touch of gold flakes on top. The restroom was really clean. Its one toilet, but the restroom itself was spacious and it has the changing table also.

Congrats to Kiwa Asian Kitchen on their second location in Brandon, FL. Their official Grand Opening is on October 17, 2025. They took over where Sushi Maru was in July, & are open now! They are located a few doors down from Outback Steakhouse and on the other side of them is Kichi Taiyaki Japanese Cafe. We came in at 11am. We were welcomed in by whom would be our server. He was working there when it was Sushi Maru also. We first ordered Korean Dumplings which came with four and were fried. They were tasty and were pretty filled. Afterwards, I ordered a fresh roll(sushi roll). This comes with no rice and is especially fresh and light. It was the Kim's Fresh. I loved this roll. I asked for spicy mayo on the side instead of on top. It didn't even need it and was so good with simply the eel sauce drizzle. I tried my friend's beef bulgogi udon. It was so tasty and had a good amount of beef not just noodles which I often see with noodle dishes. Our server was very nice. I did like this experience and I look forward to visiting again after their Grand Opening. Give them a try. They have sushi, nigiri, sushi apps, Korean entrees, ramen & shrimp udon soup in if you want something soupy. You can find their menu on their Instagram @kiwa_brandon

Love the lighting and intimate feel. I sat at the sushi bar. The weather is low 50's, so I had to order a small hot sake to start. As for my roll- Tuna High Roll, sub'd for spicy tuna, perfect kick I needed with super quick delivery! To finish I had the sesame and matcha mochi. I really enjoyed the sesame one I was very surprised. Tasted peanut buttery!

It's my second visit to Kiwa. It's even better than the first time. Initially, the menu was limited. The menu didn't have everything that the Bayshore location offered. They were still unpacking and setting up the restaurant. The Beef Udon Stir-fry and the Korean Dumplings were very good despite all of this. I was impressed with the amount of beef in the udon. It was very tasty. I knew that I'd return once they were more settled in. I'm so glad I waited to write this review. This restaurant keeps evolving. It now has a full Bento menu which has some wonderful choices such as spicy pork and beef bulgogi. That's what I originally wanted the first time I was here. I thought I'd order it this time, but I just couldn't pass up the Torched Hamachi Roll and skewers. It's getting to be more like a Korean version of an Izakaya that offers skewers, crispy rice, hand roll tacos, and other street food specialties. It was a tough choice because I wanted to try everything. In the end, the Torched Hamachi was the way to go. That truffle mayo and seared yellow tail won my heart. I was also happy with the Tako & NY Strip skewers. The steak was tender and rolled with scallions in the middle of it. The octopus was very tasty. I prefer the chunks versus the baby octopus. I've seen it in pictures, and it just reminds me of Harry's octopus friend in Resident Alien. It's too real for me to eat it that way. The chunks of octopus ended up being perfect for me thanks to my server. The service is just as great & friendly. He had so many great suggestions. I can't wait to go back to try the spicy pork bento and sushi handball tacos. I can see this new spot being very popular once the word gets out. I know many people miss Sushi Maru, but they retired. It's time to embrace another Korean concept. Try it for yourself.

Good dumplings. My only minor issue is that for the price 4 seems a bit sparse. Other places tend to give you at 6 when they are appetizers. The rolls are top tier though. Delicious , crunchy umami. With a touch of spice that is balanced by the sweet sauce. The presentation is amazing. Best of all the specialty rolls are $3 off after 8. Great choices overall!! The atmosphere is chill and nice and our sever was incredibly nice. Overall great place to eat at the weekend.

We had a lovely experience here! The crab rangoons, dumplings, crispy rice and steamed buns hit the spot. The decor is tasteful and the music fits the vibe and ambiance. Server was fast and so was the food. Thank you for the apps and drinks!

(4.5 stars if I could!) YUM YUM YUMMMMMMMM!!! YALLLLLLLLLL!!! This is my new IT spot in the Brandon, FL area! I've already come a couple of times and even was able to have a surprise birthday dinner for my mom here! One of my fav places to go is Izakaya Tori in Tampa, and although this is not the EXACT same, I feel like if Izakaya Tori had a child... this would be it! Broooo... it's delicious! Every meal we have had is DELISH!!! I've gotten the chicken katsu almost every time because it's one of my favorite simple go-tos and it's yummy here! They have onions on the side and the juice of it adds such a DELICIOUS flavor to the rice... man it's the simple things. We've tried the Galbi, Bulgogi, Combo Fried Rice, Crab Rangoon, Korean Dumplings, Chicken Katsu, Volcano Roll, Clear Soup, Ginger Salad, Edamame, Veggie Spring Rolls, and a couple of other sushi rolls. Everything we have tried has been great. Being that I've gone a couple of times, I would say the plates are VERY consistent. Great flavors! Service is nice! Everyone working there is very kind. The ambiance is super chill and cool. Low lighting really adds to the feel of the restaurant! The only reason I'm in between giving it a 4 or 5 star review is just because of little things, But honestly, the food more than makes up for it! I can't wait to try their other items on the menu like the skewers and specials, as well as the soon-to-be-added items like the boba! Definitely check this place out!

When you walk in , the vibes are immaculate! The food was phenomenal! My friend got the volcano roll and the Korean dumplings which were crunchy and mouth watering! I got the crab Rangoon which were very unique but so delicious! I also grabbed a crunchy crab handeoll and NY strip skewer that actually melted in my mouth! The service was super fast and our waiter was lovely. You have to check them out in Brandon!

Kiwa Brandon truly delivers an impeccable dining experience from start to finish. The service is top-notch -- attentive, friendly, and incredibly efficient without ever feeling rushed. From the moment you walk in, you feel welcomed and taken care of. The variety of Korean dishes is outstanding. Whether you're in the mood for perfectly seasoned chicken, tender steak, or flavorful octopus, everything is prepared with incredible attention to detail and authentic taste. The sushi rice bento box is a must-try -- fresh, satisfying, and beautifully presented. To top it all off, their assortment of sake is impressive, especially the cold sake drinks, which pair perfectly with the meal and elevate the entire experience. Kiwa Brandon is easily a five-star spot for anyone who loves Korean cuisine, great service, and a welcoming atmosphere. Can't wait to come back!

In a somewhat run down looking strip mall, the small restaurant was simple, but showing K-music videos on a TV. Unfortunately I couldn't see it from my seat, but I'll change that next visit! Our server was polite, helpful, and attentive. We ordered a ridiculous amount of food since we drove 45m to try it, so had a Kimchi Pajeon, Kimbap, Soon Tofu, and Veggie Fried Rice. The pancake was DELICIOUS-super flavorful and chock full of veggies. I did not care for the Kimbap, only because it had less flavor and was a little more dry than the other items, but it tasted very fresh. The Soon Tofu was spicy and full of flavor. It came with a huge heaping of rice in a cute covered dish to keep it hot - I'm ordering these things for home! The veggie fried rice, for which we opted no egg, was also fantastic, but we ended up taking ,ost of it and the pancake home for leftovers. We were also served Ban Chan - side dishes, of small tastes of seasoned veggies such as bean sprouts, eggplant, cucumbers, broccoli, radish, and more. It was all amazing. Sadly, we had no room for anything else, but I will definitely be back as soon as possible. SO worth the drive and expense!

They were also out of the crab egg roll, out of sweet tea, and out of lettuce in which we like to wrap the bulgogi. We ordered mandu, it was good but a little bit doughy because of the wrap they use, not as crispy as we would expect. I ordered the dolsot bibimbop. Mine came out first and was sizzling hot. No complaints, the egg had a runny yolk which means it was not overcooked like many I have had in the past. The bibimbop sauce is delicious with just the right amount of kick. Waitress brought out banchans, there were six different types, pickled eggplant, nori, broccoli, kimchi, bean sprouts, and cucumbers. Son ordered pork bulgogi. The plate was heaping with pork, and the sauce was nice and thick and stuck to the pork. Spouse ordered beef bulgogi and it took about 10 minutes for his to come out after our son and I had our meals. The plate was heaping, but spouse said the beef was a little bland, but some of the bibimbop sauce took care that. Son and spouse took leftovers with them. We were kind of disappointed in the items they did not have, but the lady waiting on us was nice and we realize they are a small business and when things are busy, it is easy to run out. The interior was a little dark, did not go to the restroom so cannot comment on the cleanliness but what we did see looked clean.

I decided to go with 2 rolls for lunch; a basic yellowtail roll, and a spider roll, which comes with fried softshell crab. While I was waiting, the sushi chef provided me with a specialty piece of yellowtail that was amazing! My rolls came out quickly, and they were absolutely perfect. While less pieces than I'm used to, the yellowtail roll was packed with fish. And the soft shell crab was perfectly cooked, plus I love that they provided the deep fried legs, too. Everything I received was beautifully plated on slate dishes, which is always a nice touch. Yes, I do think its more expensive than other sushi places ($4 for a soda, come on?!) but it was really excellent sushi. If I'm ever in the area again (which, honestly, I hope not to be), I would definitely return.
