We came here for a massage before the New Year's. The doors were locked because our appointment time was after closing, but when we were late and we didn't feel rushed or anything. The vibe of the place is very nice and calming with a lot of cool, oriental type decor. My wife and I were splitting into different rooms and I had Phillip who was great. He was able to apply the perfect amount of pressure throughout the whole massage and was able to match energy. I needed to just relax and be calm. I mentioned I had a lot of upper back and neck soreness lately and he definitely hit the spot hitting all those pressure points. I've checked out quite a few spas in Portland and Kiva remains my absolute favorite. It's so relaxing and tranquil. They have a great menu of services and many different types. My favorite is the Tranquil Massage (the foot bath and dry brushing are great additions to a typical massage). Every masseuse I've had has been excellent. The reason I gave four stars is I've had several issues with scheduling. They will often move my appointment back and only inform me with the confirmation email. I highly recommend! read more

From the minute I walked in, I felt a sense of serenity. It's around the corner on Raleigh. The front desk person put me at ease. I chose the "Turn Back the Clock Facial." It was amazing. The fragrances and textures of the products felt rejuvenating. It's more than a facial, had qualities that looked more like a facelift. It includes massage that made me feel relaxed. I have met with more than one person and they both had an amazing touch. At the end my skin felt and looked amazing, definitely refreshed. I almost forgot it's best to leave with no make up and just let the products soak in. I came for a facial and it has become my sanctuary of self-care. After researching a multitude of spas, I chose Kiva Spa based off their offerings and overall reviews. Kiva has a very relaxing space which is apparent when one walks through the door. I had a deeper level facial with Kiva, and a deep tissue massage and a reflexology foot treatment with India. Both women displayed such care and expertise. While walking in between sessions, I saw treatment spaces I was curious about. India answered all the questions I had and it made me excited to go back and experience them. Another cute place to study and work at in NW! Such the perfect spot on an extra warm day, as you can sit inside but they have the front windows/doors open! Not a lot of seating but enough in the space :) This cafe is within a spa of course, so the vibes were peaceful. I have yet to try a massage or facial from them but I would definitely go support this local spa. I had their Purple Power smoothie, and I enjoyed it! Their açaí bowls looked great too. read more

Stopped by KIVA one morning while on vacation in Portland last month and it was such a refreshing breakfast before a very hot day! I hadn't ever really had a proper acai bowl before, so when a friend from the area recommended KIVA, we were pretty interested in trying. I'd recommend going for the blended bowls or smoothies over the baked goods; we tried a cheddar scone from the display and it was fairly hard and dry. However, the acai bowl we tried, the Summer Breeze, and the seasonal smoothie were both great! The steel cut oats and the fruit packed in the acai bowl were excellent and helped the bowl be super filling even though we split it. I also really liked the crunchy coconut oil on top, it really helped give the bowl a lot of texture and flavor. A great first acai bowl experience, and I'm hoping I can find something down here in North Texas that hits that same spot! read more

I really enjoyed the massage special here. For around $150, you get a 75 minute whole body massage, oil scalp treatment, and tea/cookie in the cafe next door. The massage was great, with the masseuse asking about any focus areas, pressure, etc beforehand. The massage is truly a whole body massage, including hands/feet which was pleasant, along with some nice guided stretching as well. The tea/cookie are a fun treat in an aesthetic, plant-filled store that allows you to remain in that post-massage, relaxed daze for a little while longer. Overall, I would recommend this place to anyone looking to support a local business and spend the fastest 75 minutes of your life relaxing and doing nothing. read more

My husband, teenage daughter and I came in to experience the Valentine's Day spa special. We thoroughly enjoyed our bodywork:facials, energy mat time, and treats. I can attest that Stephanie is the most fabulous esthetician I have ever had the pleasure to get a facial from. My only two items of feedback are: a) my husband never received his tarot reading and was kind of disappointed. I did tell a staff, and she stated this item would be taken off our bill;b) I was so impressed by Stephanie I wanted to sign up for a membership. My partner and I have gone to Kiva for acai bowls for years. Their acai used to be our favorite! We hadn't been in a while, and were super disappointed the Summer Breeze acai we got this week. In recent years, we noticed the acai options have been reduced, as have the portions and quality. For $14, we got soupy acai bowls to eat in-store, in half-filled to-go containers. We used to remember getting so much acai, we could barely eat it all! And it used to be.. frozen! Last, I question the ethics of serving 'for here' food in single-use plastics. Awww heck yeah! I've had their acai bowls a couple of times now, and they're legit! They're VERY large, packed full of flavor, and leave me feeling healthy. I'm partial to the Powerhouse Bowl. Here's what's in it: Base: Acai, Banana, Maca, Raw Cacao, Almond Milk Top: GF Granola, Fresh Fruit, Peanut Butter, Hemp Seeds, Cacao Nibs, Coconut Flakes. I usually come here after yoga or quick hike, either getting smoothies or breakfast bowl. They also have good salad with some protein, perfect for lunch. Of course have good tea menu (they are a tea bar), I think they have something you want to try. I just like the atmosphere, very comfortable sitting there either myself or with my friends. I bought a Groupon for a "seasonal massage" and I was scheduled with Mary L. This was my first massage. 90 minute full body massage with a scalp oil treatment. My appointment was 3:45pm and I was there at 3:30pm. Mary called me and told me she could see me paying for parking and told me she was ready for me when I was. I walk inside and Mary greets me at the door and proceeded to head over on the computer ensuring the information was correct. The entryway of the facility was beautifully decorated and designed. I felt like I really couldn't take anything in or even browse the merchandise they were selling. It was obvious immediately that Mary was on a tight schedule. Mary was quick at checking me in, gave me slippers to change out my shoes and then proceeded fast walked through the building into my massage room. It was 3:45pm in the afternoon and I was seemingly the only customer there. Mary asked me details on what I wanted out of the massage and I communicated my wants and concerns. The massage and scalp oil treatment was 5 stars, absolutely amazing and I'm very happy with the service and Mary's diligent care to my body. The Groupon deal had included tea and a cookie, and I assumed that it would be provided before the massage. I should have said something but I didn't. I received the tea and cookie on the way out and it was delicious but I wished I had the opportunity to enjoy it within the zen and relaxing place. (Currently going through a renovation, at the time) I couldn't help but to feel like I was being rushed the beginning and ending during customer services parts of it. This was my first time doing a massage and I had perhaps placed my expectations too high for this spa. I wanted this to be a self caring, zen, relaxing, and healing moment for me. Kinda like how you see in media and movies. But I felt rushed. Not sure if it had to due with it being Friday late afternoon appointment. (Cafe that attached the spa was closed when Mary escorted me there to make my tea.) Or because of the remodeling was occurring as they expand or if they're still abiding by COVID precautionary measures for the experience to feel rushed but I was slightly disappointed in that aspect of the experience. If you're looking to skip the frills of above and beyond customer service and get a straight forward massage, this is the place for you. read more

I've been here a couple of times and the 2 massage therapists provided wonderful, relaxing massages. The ambiance is soothing and they use hot oil and stones to increase blood flow and relaxation. I like that they are connected to a cafe next door to get tea, coffee, cookies, and local made goods after the massage. They also adhere to a strict COVID protocol where you only enter at your appointment time so there's no people waiting in the spa.
